Ants and bees are such exceptional colonies that they can be considered “superorganisms.” That means that not only is the group an organization, it becomes an organism because all parts of it (each ant or bee) is dedicated to the group’s purpose and survival.
While human society is not yet a superorganism, perhaps we are a part of a galactic superorganism. As Lynne McTaggart writes: “Everything, from subatomic particles to single-cell organisms to the most distant stars in the galaxy, all are part of an indivisible Bond.” Some days, when it feels like humans may be failing each other and our planet, it can help to imagine that we are a cell or particle in this larger creature, and that our thoughts and actions –our vibration—affects those in the neighboring cells (other people). The organism needs all of us to complete its mission.
