to being the only driver to have the closest margin since 2021 in the wdc to challenge max, to having most poles in a single season for a mclaren driver in the teams history to being the one to bring his team to victory

No actually, I feel bad for Lando Norris. Because he's been having an amazing season, not only did he get his first win, more followed and he's been getting great results overall. But everyone around him, including his team it seems, is not celebrating that as the feat it is.

Everything Lando has done, has been put into the context of him taking something away from Max. Taking away a win, taking away the WDC. Lando's acomplishments are not celebrated as his own, instead the media is celebrating that Max is losing. It's weird, especially when you compare it with Charles who has had the same amount of wins this year as Lando, but is celebrated for all his accomplishments (and rightfully so)

He's immediately been built up as THE guy who in 2024 will knock Max down a peg and become the new world champion (which let's be honest here, the point gap has not been closing, this battle never really was one). Instead of celebrating the start of the part of his career where he became a serious championship contender, 2024 will now be remebered as the first time he lost out on the WDC, even though he was never in de race yet.

Lando Norris' accomplishments this year are super impresive. It is unfair that these wins are being framed as not enough and a lost title instead of the rise of a great driver.

I just wanted to take a moment to say how proud I am of Lando.

People seem to forget that he got thrown in the fight for both championships the same year he got his maiden win and he’s done nothing but deliver, and this year, even if the WDC is not possible, I know it won’t be the last time he’ll have the opportunity to fight for one, and he’s already learned and grown so much from everything he’s been through, experiencing new things he has never had the chance to simply because he didn’t have a fighting car until this season.

Has he made mistakes? Yes, and I think today’s race was proof of that, but McLaren have also made a lot of mistakes that can cost them big points because apparently you can take the car out of the midfield but you can’t take the midfield out of the team.

Anyway, despite them not fully supporting his championship fight from the begging and making questionable decisions, I’m still rooting for the team because I KNOW how much it would mean to Lando. He’s been with that team for YEARS and he’s put his sweat, tears, and blood since the moment he became part of it. I truly admire him for the trust and loyalty he has shown to that team.

Like Lando said, they’ll keep fighting till the end and they are not giving up until it’s over. All the love to him and to all the Lando fans who have been THROUGH IT today. 🫶🏻🩷
