I Swear This Song Is Like An Onion, As You Peel Off The Layers And Deeper You Go, There Are More Connections

I swear this song is like an onion, as you peel off the layers and deeper you go, there are more connections and meanings, profound implications, and complex emotions, especially if you play around with the point of view..

For instance, as per Taylor (writer), the narrator (presumably her partner) of the song unambiguously endured pain and suffering as a result of being with her through the darkest nights. The lyrics “And if I would've known how many pieces you had crumbled into / I might have let them lay” and then “How sharp the pieces were you'd crumbled into / I might’ve let them lay”, repeated twice, suggests the writer’s anxiety and guilt about damaging the narrator, and if the narrator also wonders whether the damage by association was worth it? One the flip side, the line could imply the narrator’s doubt about their value to Taylor in those darkest nights, if their support helped or worsened the situation (might have let them lay, so left things as they were) because it appears Taylor’s anxiety continues to be an impediment in their relationship. And with the word choice of sharp, the narrator is admitting to being cut by those pieces, otherwise how else would they know how sharp they were..the more I listen to this song,m the more I’m-🥺😭🤯

Hum... am I seeing a story of the super straight, girlfriend-filled alpha male being planted in that famous IG gossip profile? Better is see the suggestion of the owner of the profile *I think this is a NY based couple. If this is the harbinger of the end, Jerk is emptying his pockets in this new farce. 💸💸💸💸💸 Lol

I have no idea what this is about???

The New Year midnight is nearly upon us.

As we March into the sunset, 2022 is not the only thing that will expire at midnight.

A fresh page…a new chapter.

Au revoir, à bientôt en tournée.

Wow what an emotional Monday! I swear I cried on three different occasions today over different videos of Taylor singing about daylight and being out of the woods and rolling the stone away all whilst draped in pride flag colours and purple glitter (purple is the gayest colour!).

But I see a lot of confusion about the seeming contradiction of wearing a bi flag dress on Friday night and a lesbian flag dress on Sunday. And while we don’t know which of those (if any) labels she identifies with, I don’t see a contradiction at all, I see a progression. She could have worn these dresses in any order, but she specifically chose to build up to the gayest one by wearing

💙💜🩷 -> 💜 -> ❤️🧡🩷

That’s a story of unpacking comphet to me. And before you come at me, no, bisexuality is not a stepping stone identity, it can absolutely be a permanent label. But the journey of slowly unpacking societal expectations and trying on identities, landing on one that maybe fit for a while but wasn’t the right one in the end is also very common, especially for queer women. We get raised into the expectation of centring our sexuality, our gender expression, our whole lives around men. That’s the heteronormative world we live in. If your environment is religious, there’s an added layer of unlearning. Unlearning what you’ve been taught you should feel, and listening to yourself about what it is you actually feel. Unlearning that being anything other than straight is bad or sinful when you’ve been raised to be the good girl. Yes, I went through the same stages. A lot of women seemingly did during the pandemic when we were all having a break from heteronormativity and sitting at home reading Untamed by Glennon Doyle 😉. (Yes, Taylor did too, she tweeted Glennon’s wife to say how much the book had helped her. And there are actually a lot of nods to this book in both Taylor’s lyrics and the June Bates poetry books).

Coming all that way out the other end to where you can fully accept your identity and wear your colours proudly is such a special and joyful moment and happy, visible queer people still bring me to happy tears every time. And for a self-declared people pleaser that’s such a big step. I can’t tell you how many people hate lesbians simply for not centring their lives around men and rejecting the male gaze. Especially in the entertainment industry, you can maybe be bi or unlabelled but don’t ever date or (god forbid) kiss someone of the same sex in public. Rose by any other name is a scandal… and all that. But no more shame, now she’s out there full of smiles and queer joy twirling in those screaming colours. And I’ve not felt this elated on her behalf since she sang Hits Different for the first time in Chicago last year. What a joyful Monday indeed. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Spade, is it true that Taylor used to pick up Karlie from college?

I saw this comment on twitter.

I don’t think there is any evidence of that. Unless I am forgetting something. If so, someone please remind me because I do not recall this narrative.

Well... there’s that. Why is Taylor like this? 😂

Also, I remember Taylor saying that This Love started as a poem that she had written about somethimg that happened in her life a year before 1989 dropped.

I can't imagine what happened! 😭🥺

Of course it was a poem l—and yes... my emisue heart melts with this video. I'm crying with you friend.

Yeah, according to the lover diaries she wrote This Love in October of 2012. These lyrics hit a certain nerve for me…

all queer history on here is just US-American or maybe sometimes some UK history as well and it makes me sad that there’s so little information about other countries’ queer history on here :(

Submission: As we March into the sunset = the exile ends watch. The watch had a 03 on it and the hands pointed to midnight. When March ended, Toe expired, and Taylor’s exile from her kingdom ended. Toe has been the lavender haze protecting the love blackout. Midnight represents the end of one day and beginning of the next.

She was just papped in NYC! Wearing a butterfly 🦋

Don’t think she’s been street papped in NYC since 2018

Exile is over, she’s home in NYC 🥹
