đSOUND ONđ
As you probably already know, Jack Antonoff and Taylor Swift have worked on many of her albums together and are pretty close friends. So, did Jack accidentally slip one of Taylorâs secrets during this interview with Marc Maron? Iâll let you decide! Hereâs the transcript:
Jack: âThereâs a better chance that if Iâm working with a woman weâre going to get along. Theyâre not going to say like, âthis dude f*cking gave it to me last nightâ or like âI just piled through like these 4 guys over the weekendââ
Interviewer: âHahaha. Youâre not going to have that conversation with Taylor Swift?â
Jack âNoâ
Interviewer âHahah, okayâ
Jack: âI like women. And particularly gay women.
Interviewer âHeh. Yeah. (Pause) Is she gay??â
Jack (Fumbling) No...but, but I work a lot with Sar-Tegan and Sara and theyâre gay.â
Interviewer â(Joking tone) Are you sure we donât have a breaking story here? Did you just tip it? (Normal tone) well, thatâs niceâ.
***Pro: If you read this crazy long theory and think I might be on to something, I donât mind if you wait to post this. I donât know what blogs Sc00terâs team looks at and I definitely donât want to jeopardize any plans. Or I might be delusional, so Iâll trust your judgement!***
Yesterday I started thinking about what Taylor and Karlie want. Like whatâs their end game, here? Why are they still bearding and perpetuating the feud narrative and hiding? If theyâre together, theyâre not doing all this because itâs fun or easy. So I worked backwardsâ I theorized some things Kaylor might want at the end of all this, and thought about what they would need to do to achieve those goals. I came up with an interesting theory.Â
Taylor wants to own all of her music. It seems like she also wants to stop the games and hiding and secrecyâ see Daylight, the willow music video, and a lot of rep-era lyrics and imagery. If she was happy in the closet, I would expect her music to reflect that. It doesnât. I think she also wants all of these men to stop ruining her plans. I get the impression from Mad Woman, Cowboy Like Me, her statements re: her masters, and Spadeâs âfervent revolution exonerates everyoneâ message that Taylor wants to expose something big in the music industry. I think she wants to tell the truth, which is (imo) that she planned on coming out in 2019 and Sc00ter tried to profit off her sexuality, which forced her back in the closet. Maybe thereâs more. But basically, she must want the option (at least) of telling her story, otherwise she could have signed that crazy NDA.
So if these are Taylorâs goals, how does she achieve them? And how does she protect herself and Karlie from retaliation from Sc00ter? Sc00ter is manipulative and well connected. If he can sabotage Taylor or Karlieâs plans, he will. Karlie is not managed by him anymore, so she is free professionally-speaking (this happened in or after November 2019, after Tâs masters were sold). But Karlie is still tied to Sc00ter through Jerk, so Taylor canât make any moves until the Jerklie contract is up. Then Sc00ter wonât have any power over Karlie. And the moment Taylor releases her old albums, Sc00ter loses most of his power over her. So first, there needs to be a Jerklie divorce, to prevent Sc00ter from retaliating as revenge (again).
I think a lot could happen very quickly after a divorce announcement. Taylor can release her re-recorded music. She could come out at the same time, if she wanted. It would probably boost sales, tbh. She can stay with Toe for safety if she comes out as bi or pan. And as soon as she comes out, she can tell the world what Sc00ter did to herâ how he forced her back into the closet, and how he used her friend, Karlie (who was still being managed by him at the time), against her. How he manipulated her and tried to screw her over any chance he had. Itâll be the truth, and it will NOT be a good look for Sc00ter. This is the âfervent revolutionâ and Karlie is exonerated in the processâ itâll be made clear that she didnât betray Taylor, and that was just the narrative Sc00ter pushed. This gets Taylor her music, fewer games (she can keep Toe until sheâs ready, but she can be seen with her âfriendâ Karlie in the meantime), freedom from Sc00ter, and the karma she craves.
So, if Taylor canât re-release her music until Jerklie splits, why is Karlie STILL with him? Couldnât they have divorced by now? Karlie was going to be tied to Sc00ter no matter what until her management contract was upâ which was November 2019 at the earliest. So yeah, a divorce could have happened at that point or any time after. I wonder if Karlie offered to extend her contract with Jerk to try to stay on Sc00terâs good side. Maybe she damaged her own reputation by staying with Jerk through the election so maybe, just maybe, Sc00ter would be willing to negotiate with Taylor in good faith (âshe cut herself so I could be wholeâ from Spade). It didnât work, but she couldnât have known that in July 2019, if thatâs when Karlie decided to extend the contract. She tried.Â
Itâs also possible that Karlie extended the contract as a way to keep Sc00ter from interfering with their plans. What would have happened if Jerklie divorced, Karlie was publicly single, Taylor wasnât allowed to re-record yet, and Sc00ter started pushing all these rumors that Taylor isnât straight? Heâs a snake. We know he wouldnât hesitate to write article after article about the âsapphic themesâ in Taylorâs earlier albums, to make people listen to them again so he could make more money. Inevitably he would connect Karlie to Reputation. Once again, Sc00ter would be manipulating Kaylor for his gain. He would be dictating the narrative. Heâd have no reason to sell Taylor her masters. Heâd be profiting off rumors about Taylorâs sexuality.
But what if Karlie was still tied to Jerk? Jerk is Sc00terâs client, and heâs obsessive about his image. Sc00ter couldnât do anything that might hurt Jerk. If he tried to out Taylor, he would end up outing Karlie, too. He would need Karlie to sell the âTaylor is not straightâ narrativeâ there isnât enough Swiftgron or Taymily evidence. I donât think Jerk wanted his âmarriageâ scrutinizedâ people might realize heâs gay. Or, having a bisexual wife might not be a good look in the conservative business world. Karlie staying with Jerk longer meant Sc00ter wasnât able to spread rumors to profit off of Taylorâs work before she could re-record. Maybe they assumed Sc00ter wouldnât do anything in good faith, so Karlie damaged her reputation to protect Taylor from Sc00ter for the 16-ish months before she could start re-recording.
I think itâs a good sign that we didnât see Jerk in December and that Taylor seems to be re-recording as quickly as she can. There are so many moving parts and things that could go wrong, so I donât think theyâre going to give Jerk or Sc00ter or anyone a chance to wreck their plans again. Theyâre going to move fast, and then the internet can go crazy while theyâre offline with their new baby. I imagine Jerklie will divorce because they were separated/seeing other people over the summer, Karlie got pregnant with some guy in California, she and Jerk tried to work it out, but ultimately he couldnât raise a baby that wasnât his. Something like thatâ Jerk will insist on being the âgood guyâ of course, and Karlie will insist on making it clear her child isnât a K*shner. Publicly, Karlie is a new, single mom and she and Taylor are friends again. Maybe Taylor has Karlie and the baby move in so she can help out Karlie in her time of need. And then maybe Karlie and the baby just donât move out. :) I thinkkkk this theory accounts for most of the craziness that weâre seeing and gives all parties the end games they want (except for Sc00ter, eff him).

Pro: This is a great theory. I think it explains a bit of the craziness that is happening right now. I do think Karlie made a sacrifice along the way. I donât think Scoobs would expose Tay as not being straight. He would in turn be exposing jerk as well who is more powerful than Scoobs.Â
I bolded the parts I think are important to remember.Â
Just thinking about them having parallel lives from the very beginning, being named after a married couple - James Taylor and Carly Elisabeth Simon. Taylor growing up in a Christmas Tree Farm, and Karlie's last name being Kloss (from Klaus / Claus). Being scouted and gaining popularity at an early age (early teens). Attending the same events for several years after said stardom. Being told constantly by make-up artists and hairstylists that they're the same person, that they would be instant friends. Then officially meeting and bonding on November 13th 2013. They intertwined.
This November 13th has truly been a celebration.

I love your analyzes and your blog. think is a bit offensive the way you demand support for Taylor when she uses queerbaiting as mkt tool only to deny it 15 days later when the money from attention, GP, pink money and general swifties was made. Now she wants the country radio so james is straight. Taylor is a unique case of closeted because she wants to be in and out to profit from both sides. Taylor plans to be cruel and has nothing to with her coming out. I NOW country radio didn't ask for it
I understand that you are frustrated and you have every right to your feelings (yes, even to your offence). I would point out, however, that:
I do not âdemandâ anything. It is absolutely your prerogative to withhold your âsupportâ financially (you do not have to purchase her music or her merchandise) or as a âfanâ (you do not have to participate in her fandom online or at all). I would only ask that if you choose to stay, you consider that âcoming outâ is contingent not only on an individualâs personal safety and security, but often also on their psychological readiness. This is not only for Taylorâs benefit, but also for the benefit of anyone who is closeted. The only person anyone owes it to to come out is themselves - at their own convenience and only if they believe it to be in their best interest. No one is obliged to come out - ever. We should not be expected to make exceptions of ourselves in order either to correct the ignorance of a society that presumes straight is default or to satisfy other peopleâs curiosity.
There is an inherent contradiction in your claim that Taylor is both âqueerbaitingâ and âcloseted.â If she is part of the LGBTQ+ community, she is unable to âqueerbaitâ by definition. I will concede the possibility that I am wrong - perhaps she is not âclosetedâ- but considering that she has never confirmed her sexuality publicly, it is important (again also for the benefit of anyone who actually is in the closet) not to assume in the absence of any clear indiction to the contrary that she is therefore straight. Besides reinforcing the notion that queerness is necessarily performative - in order to be queer you must first announce that you are - as if the closet itself and the process of coming out arenât first and foremost inventions of the cishetero-patriarchy and we couldnât exist authentically without them (is Queen Latifah who has a wife and child somehow less queer because she hasnât stated that she is?), the logical extension of your argument otherwise is that only people who are publicly out ought be allowed to identify themselves with queer culture. This would effectively be to exclude LGBTQ+ people from their own community. It is also antithetical to the stated aims of that community - the acronym LGBTQ+ has historically included anyone in the closet who wises to align themselves with the community without also outing themselves under the umbrella âally.â As such, it is wrong to assume that all publicly identified allies are straight (or cis).
Whether or not country radio asked for it (and you donât know for a fact) is almost irrelevant. It is still conservative and it still operates according to certain conventions that apply even without them being consciously articulated. As someone who started their career in country music, I can only assume that Taylor is well aware of these codes of conduct whether they are tacit or not (and, even if times are changing, it is not a stretch to imagine that her previous experiences of homophobia in that industry will have shaped her expectations of it in the present.)Â Â
What she said in no way detracts from our ability to read the song as queer. That she wrote it from the perspective of a seventeen year old boy does not alter the fact that, when the song is performed, it is performed by Taylor, who is a woman singing about/to another woman. This is what most peopleâs first impressions will be and that by itself is significant. She also immediately followed up her explanation by stating that the protagonists (James, Inez and Betty) were named after her âfriendsâ kids.â As the lyrics themselves are, therefore, ambiguously gendered - if the actual James is (as far as anyone knows) not a boy, then fictional James isnât automatically a boy either - I object to the claim that James is necessarily âstraightâ in consequence.Â
Finally, I am not saying that you cannot be critical. But, if you have to fault Taylor for something in this case, let it be her failure consistently to acknowledge that her actions (negatively) affect her LGBTQ+ fans as well as herself. She is allowed to panic or to react instinctively and impulsively to something she has been conditioned to regard as a threat. However, it is imperative that her own internalised homophobia (?) should not be a pretext for homophobic attacks by her fans.Â
Hum... am I seeing a story of the super straight, girlfriend-filled alpha male being planted in that famous IG gossip profile? Better is see the suggestion of the owner of the profile *I think this is a NY based couple. If this is the harbinger of the end, Jerk is emptying his pockets in this new farce. đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸ Lol
I have no idea what this is about???
6 years of 1989 / october 27, 2014 - october 27, 2020
we begin our story in new york. there once was a girl known by everyone and no one. her heart belonged to someone who couldnât stay. they loved each other recklessly. they paid the price. she danced to forget him. he drove past her street each night. she made friends and enemies. he only saw her in his dreams. then, one day, he came back. timing is a funny thing, and everyone was watching. she lost him, but she found herself and somehow ... that was EVERYTHING.
I canât stop laughing at Jackâs face at that part.Â
