Table Etiquette
A crash course on fine dining/ being invited to dinner at someone’s place. Even if you don’t fine dine, I’d recommend you start practicing these habits in any establishment so that they come to you naturally.
Remember : A typical four-course meal consists of a soup, an appetizer, an entrée, and dessert.
Keep at least one hand free. If you are standing, have only a drink or food in one hand, never both. Hold a drink in your left hand so that you have a clean hand for a handshake. You can eat and drink while sitting, but it is always better to stand and greet.
1. Wait to be seated by the staff/ host.
2. Napkin on your lap the minute you sit down at the table.
3. if you're looking at the menu, make sure to have the bottom, or at least one part of it, still touching the table, even if your impulse is to bring it closer to your face. Don’t lift the menu off the table to your nose.
4. Once you sip from a glass, you must sip from the exact same place on that glass for the rest of the evening.
5. If there’s a breadbasket and butter on your table - don’t dip the bread in the communal butter plate. Take a piece of the butter with your butter knife, put it on the side plate, then spread that butter on your bread. Don’t double dip! Your bread plate is the one on your left, by the way. And your glass will be on your right.
6. If your table has a lot of silverware - start from the outside and work your way in.
7. Dishes should be passed in a counter-clockwise flow. Don’t reach across the table.
8. Lay you fork and knife diagonally across the plate, side by side, pointing at 10:00 and 4:00 on a clock face. This signifies to the wait staff that you have finished.
9. Keep the rim of your plates as clean as possible, as a sign of respect to the staff.
1. Whilst eating Indian food/ in India, always eat with your right hand. The left hand should never touch the food. This is also seen in the Arab world - use only the thumb, index finger and middle finger to pick up food.
2. In Korea, one waits for the senior most person in the room to sit and eat, and is followed suit. Sharing is caring - food is often ordered to share with each other rather than individual plates.
3. Chopsticks etiquette (general): don’t stick and leave your chopsticks in your food perpendicular to the table, it signifies death. Don't set your chopsticks down pointed at another person at the table. Don't point your chopsticks at other people around the table.
4. France: bread on the table is meant to accompany the main dish, not as an appetiser.
What are some table manners that one should keep in mind if they’re eating food/ eating with someone of your culture?
Myanmar’s military declared a one-year state of emergency on Monday and appointed a general as acting president, after arresting civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other senior officials.
An announcement on military-owned Myawaddy TV said the move was needed to preserve the “stability” of the state, accusing the country’s election commission of failing to address “huge irregularities” in the November election.
Kitchen Witch
Go to a homey bakery and let them go on and on about all the ways to enchant blueberry muffins.
(NYC) Go to eataly and get some good ass pastries or prosciutto and other delicious dried cuts, just basically eat around Eataly or go to Dough.
(NYC) Explore supermarkets in places like china town, ktown, (eataly is great too) and get new foods or ingredients for them to try out at home.
(NYC) Load your pockets with dollars and take them to a street fair and try every food/snack stand they want.
(NYC) If they like beer take them to good beer and have one of the guys explain the different brews. If they like mead take them to Honies.
Green Witch
Go to a botanical garden and point to the prettiest flower and say “that’s you”
Start a date by giving them a bouquet with a special message by using the Victorian language of flowers, or your own correspondences
If living together, go to a local nursery and choose flowers to plant together at your home.
(NYC) Take them to Flower power and offer to get them a gift that they please.
(NYC) Also be their buffer to killing their wallet cause that’ll happen at flower power.

(NYC) Take them florist shopping.
(NYC) Take them to the Kava bar in the lower east side to feel great after drinking nonalcoholic kava cocktails.
(NYC) Get lost in the north woods in Central Park.
Hedge Witch
(NYC) take them to the beautiful greenwood cemetery.
(NYC) Buy them some skulls or antlers at Catland.
(NYC) Go ghost hunting in some spooky ass places like the abandoned homes of Govenors island or The Dakota building, but if it gets too spooky then have a picnic on the island or by Central Park instead!
Go pumpkin, apple, strawberry, or any fruit picking, then use the fruits/vegetables in cooking/baking.
Cosmic Witch
Take them star gazing and come up with stories about planets falling in love.
Take a car out to a quiet, rural place and stargaze. Watch from a blanket on the ground or the top of the car. If you want, you can take a telescope.
I’d suggest oddities since they sell meteorite and other spacely things though it could be costly there.
(NYC) Museum of natural history has a great space section and planetarium too.
(NYC) Stargazing in NYC might be tricky but if you go up to fort Tyron you might have a beautiful view nonetheless!
Sea Witch
Go to the beach and help them look for sea shells. Help them carry all the ocean water home.
(NYC) Take the Q35 from Flatbush Ave (last 2,5 stop) to fort Tilden. It’s the best beach since it’s the cleanest and hardly no one is there. It’s serene and you’ll find tons of shells.
(NYC) You can stay on the same bus as it will take you to Jacob Riis beach. I find the water there way less clean with tons of algae BUT the seashells there are phenomenal! Like as huge as ashtrays. So if it’s cold and you want to just go seashell hunting I’d vote for Jacob riis.
(NYC) Swimming is better for fort Tilden. If it’s too cold for the beach take them to a boutique called Oddities. They sell beautiful seashells and other incredible magical things in that shop.
(NYC) You can also take them to the museum of natural history and chill in that gorgeous aquatic room with the massive whale that every child feared would drop on their heads and crush them. It’s a beautiful space.

As a kitchen witch, flavor is a very important component in my practice. Certain spells aimed towards particular needs dictate what something should taste like; we know what foods we associate with what need, here I just list what tastes are therefore associated with those particular needs.
There are eight kinds of tastes: sweet, salty, sour, bitter, savory, menthol (ingredients that cause a cooling sensation, such as mint), spicy (ingredients that cause a hot sensation, such as pepper) and dry (ingredients that cause a dry sensation in the mouth, such as certain wines).

I read this in my bath yesterday ♡
A few weeks ago, my mother and I went to a flea market and noticed a man selling different herbal products. He was asking what type of products that I normally use and what type of ailments I have. I told him that I has acne inversa and serious hyperpigmentation. The conversation end up leading to talking about honoring your ancestors, that my ailments is my blood, telling me that I should acknowledge them and to heal whatever that’s within me so that I can get better both physically and spiritually. So, I bought nothing but neem products and giving myself one month to heal myself.
