"One night during the French Grand Prix meeting the drivers and team personnel were gathered at their favourite bar in the town. Drinks had been taken, and Hawthorn made a bet with Stuart Lewis-Evans, Moss's teammate, to see who could climb faster up a couple of trees in the courtyard. Off they went.
