Word CounterĀ - Not only does it count the number of words youāve written, it tells you which words are used most often and how many times they appear.
Tip Of My Tongue - Have you ever had a word on the tip of your tongue, but you just canāt figure out what it is? This site searches words by letters, length, definition, and more to alleviate that.
Readability Score - This calculates a multitude of text statistics, including character, syllable, word, and sentence count, characters and syllables per word, words per sentence, and average grade level.
Writerās Block (Desktop Application) - This free application for your computer will block out everything on your computer until you meet a certain word count or spend a certain amount of time writing.

Sorry for how short this is! I wanted to only include things I genuinely find useful.
This is how I draw hands.Ā I simplify the shape and then later I will add the necessary details. It makes it easier to get them right. But the only way to learn how to draw hands is to just keep drawing them.
Music is gorgeous
Cécile Chaminade Thème varié, Op.89 (1898?)
Marc-AndrƩ Hamlin, piano

Pretty!
i only drew myself to find out if i could do it lmao
The reason I've been taught is the Jewish Temple being destroyed. It's like that Temple was destroyed, but the couple now has an obligation to create a spritual one in their home.
The explanation to balance the joy of the wedding, and add seriousness to the occasion I think is based on that. (There's a story in talmud where a rabbi saw the other rabbis there were too excitable so he smashed a really fancy cup and they shut up and chilled a bit.)
I canāt believe Into the Spiderverse casually made Peter Parker canonically Jewish. I feel valid in this chiliās tonight.
have you ever watched your peers win the scholarships you've also applied to (and get rejected in) and feel just... really worthless? especially if you put in a lot of effort. Sometimes it's discouraging to think there's always someone out there that's much smarter than you. You don't have to reply, I just felt like venting haha.
Good evening, anonymous! Thanks for the ask!
Iāve been in similar situationsĀ many times, and itās Not A Great Feeling.Ā Although you asked about scholarship applications, I hope you donāt mind if I talk about application rejections more generally.
First off, some of my more recent rejection experiences includeā¦
During my first wave of graduate school applications, I was rejected unanimously.Ā It was extremely discouraging. (Contrast this withĀ my second wave of graduate school applications a year later, wherein I was unanimously accepted and received several amazing financial offers.)
Because my subfield is financially-limited,Ā thereās a lot of people applying for a very finite pool of money. Of course, my research group needs funding if itās going to keep doing science, meaning rejection is an expected part of the process.
Iāve been rejected many times over by certain research-relevant summer schools that my colleagues have attended.
And so, with these experiences in mind, Iād like to provide someā¦
Rejection in general can be extremely painful, disappointing, and discouraging. Then add the pressure of that rejection impactingĀ your future? Cue heartbreak.
Here are several facts that help me maintain my spirits through repeated rejections.Ā For instance, when it comes toĀ the persons who evaluate applications, I keep in mind thatā¦
They survey a TON of people. As a result, they end up with a larger number of qualified applicants than they have available spots. Being rejected doesnāt mean you werenāt qualified. I know plenty of hyper-qualified individuals who get rejected simply because of the luck of the draw.
They observe only a FRACTION of you. Applications are necessarily finite, so reviewers donāt get to evaluate the whole of you. Rejection of your application is not a rejection of you. You are so so SO much more than an application.
Furthermore,
An application rejected by certain reviewers might be accepted by others, and vice-versa. Consequently, if you get a rejection and someone else gets an acceptance that does NOT mean theyāre better than you. An application canāt enable judgments of that complexity.
You are growing and changing every day: the pieces of you that go into an application can be improved upon or reworked for future applications. Rejection can inform you what areas you might try to focus on in the future.Ā
Finally, my most IMPORTANT piece of advice is to keep in mind thatā¦
Thereās an element of luck whenever you apply for anything. Thatās the nature of these systems and itāsĀ not your fault.
Remember:
Best wishes, my anonymous friend.
Drawing reference
A quick Hot Tip for drawing shoes from me; a man who enjoys looking at shoes maybe too much
Itās good to draw some kind of foot looking shape before you draw shoes so theyāre like the right size and shape but sometimes I see people draw soles as like flat things hovering under the feet but if you look at your own shoes youāll see that the inside of your shoes are not flat, theyāre bottom of your foot shaped and your feet sink into them a bit so theyāre comfortable and not like slapping an oval block of wood to your foot
So the outside band on shoes is usually somewhere higher than you might think
Of course in many real shoes thereād be a bit of an arch from a raised up heel or something, so I probably should have drawn some feet instead of lazying out, but hopefully you get the idea.
Lovely art by a very talented artist!
some covers i did for the Over The Garden Wall comics from across the past year
