Hello!! Want to start off by saying thank you, I hope this isn’t too long, and I love your work! I really enjoyed From Where the Land Meets the Sea and I regularly check The Places You Shouldn’t Be for updates. I’m used to writing long papers for school so sorry if this comes out long! Also I’d like this matchup to be romantic, I’m always so excited and intrigued to hear who others would arrange my marriage to lmao. My Quotev username is Rosemary/SteelOatmeal in case you need it!

Basic info: I’m 19, I use she/her/hers pronouns, and I am bisexual. Likes: I like sorting things into categories (as I’ll do with the rest of this essay lol) so I hope that helps you too! I am pagan so I love nature and all that good shit, but I don’t go outside that much bc it’s hot and I’m very lazy. I have a large collection of candles bc I love to set the mood of my space, as well as decorate it with art prints, random shit, and my own paintings. In general, I like my space and clothing to be as comfy and cozy as possible while also being aesthetic and cool. Hand-written notes from loved ones are one of my favorite things and I keep every one I get to look through when I’m sad. I absolutely adore cats, I like to knit/crochet, I consider thrifting a sport (that I do often), I read a lot but only fanfics lmao, my signature look is winged eyeliner, my favorite band is Car Seat Headrest, and I drink large amounts of herbal tea.

Dislikes: Obviously bigots, racists, misogynists, capitalists, and anything-phobes are getting their shit rocked for being scum. I have misophonia so I have to flee my room/put in earbuds often which REALLY sucks and affects my life a lot. I greatly dislike people being judgemental towards others for no good reason (ie cringe culture). When I was younger I was often made fun of for the things I liked and it really did a number on me so it makes me very mad when I see others getting the same treatment. Also raw tomatoes can suck it.

Good traits: I would describe myself as both the funny friend and the cool funky aunt. Also VERY anxious and flighty but sneaky and mischievous; I love some light trespassing and shenanigans. I care a lot about my close relationships and always try to be as helpful as humanly possible for them. I often give people advice and try to be there for them in any way I can (listening, cheering up, encouraging, etc.). It takes me a long time to open up but I consider myself a cool person to talk to and hang out with once you get to know me. I’m very accepting of others, as long as you’re not a bigot or just a dick we’re cool.

Less good traits: I often let my anxiety get in the way of opportunities (social, romantic, events, etc.). It also holds me back from being at all vulnerable with people. I am very paranoid and concerned with safety/not getting caught so I’ve been told I sometimes hold other people back from doing their thing out of my own anxiety. I’m kind of a hermit and incredibly lazy, always have been. I am terrible at confrontation and will avoid it at all costs because I am totally a coward and not afraid (..the irony) to admit it. I can be bossy bc I like having authority, control, and having things done my way.

Fun story!! This is my favorite story to tell, I hope you enjoy! A few years ago I was hanging out with some friends in their neighborhood and we found a storm drain exit hole (??) so we decided to walk in. I’m like 6 feet tall but I only had to crouch a bit to walk the roughly 100 feet into the concrete tube until we reached a small room beneath the manhole/storm drain cover. We all sat in the little room having fun, playing cards, and trying not to be scared of the quiet black tunnels behind us that led further into the drain. A few of the people with us leave to go to the surface. The rest of us are just having a good time when suddenly an extremely loud, thunderous BOOM echoes all around us. I have never felt such immediate, intense, primal fear in my life. I thought either the tunnel was collapsing or pennywise was coming to demolish our stupid teen asses. We briefly share a horrified look before scrambling up and booking it out of the tunnel, me scraping my head and hitting a few spiders on the way out. When we got out, shaking and gasping, we were greeted to the laughs of the guys who left earlier. They had thrown a large rock onto the metal manhole/storm drain cover to scare us. Assholes. Fun to look back on now though lmao.

I have said it once, twice and I will say it again, you guys are SO GOOD at making me ??? With who I want to put you with!! And once again, this is just because I find you so interesting and just chef’s kiss with so many different people. SO why did I match you with Jane? Honestly I love Jane and I see her getting along with Pisces and everything about you just vibes with her but I will get into that! Jane has such a sense of justice about her, at least, that’s how I tend to see her. She’s an ambivert leaning towards extroversion and is often the life of the party but I think she genuinely loves how cozy you are because it’s so calming and relaxing to her. She finds everything about you so SO peaceful. She’s also a bit artistic herself so ofc, she loves your artwork. She also finds your personality so admirable because it’s like the perfect balance of doing fun shit and taking it slow. She needs that ngl. The shenanigans like light trespassing? She’s 100% up for that, like literally just going to explore stuff with her if that’s your thing, she’d hold your hand the entire time and probably bust out some history of the place because lowkey, I think she’s into history. I think you also mentioned you’re tall so like she’s into that. I like to think she’s a tall girl too and wears heels just to tower over people lol like Lady D, but make it Jane. She’s here for that. Jane also really likes that you’re helpful/and willing to lend an ear because she has an unhealthy habit of bottling stuff in until it explodes, but I think you’d put her in such a peaceful/safe space that she’ feel willing to let that stuff out healthily and at a good pace rather than waiting until it explodes. By the gods let her do your makeup and you do hers. I can just see the two of you sitting on the floor, candles all around, maybe a ring light giggling and doing each other’s makeup. Her hands gently touching your face, caressing you and just telling you how pretty you are like I am weak. Also you mentioned liking cats she likes cats too! At one point she would ask you to knit her something with a cat-- like you two probably have a cat together or something she’s soft. Also, I think she’s the type of girl to send legitimate letters to her GF! Like she would totally just send actual handwritten letters to you, busts out a fountain pen, and then kisses it with her black lipstick with a dash of her perfume and eagerly waits for you to get it. She’s the type of girl to put polaroids too,,,,,, and take an astounding amount of polaroids with you and string them up on her wall or have a “our adventure book” kind of deal. She’s also really perceptive? So, if a situation is ever too much and you need to retreat, she’s got you 100%. If you need your space? That’s totally cool she’s just really understanding of you and everything going on in your orbit. I also like to think she’s that kind of partner that would just exist in a room with you? Like she doesn’t even need to be talking with you to enjoy her time with you (or maybe I really like those pleasant silences lol). She’s also really supportive of everything you do, regardless of what it is because she hates that people hurt you when you were younger. She wants you to absolutely thrive and she will help you do that. Jane also likes,,,,, those nap dates? I mentioned it in another matchup, like "let's take melatonin and sleep together" like that. Just let her hold you while she cuddles you. She likes simple contact. Jane would also join in your hobbies and learn about them if you'd let her. She'd also teach you some things too - mostly protection related because she wants you to stay safe at all times.

You two as a couple:

Thrift dates are a must. No questions asked. Like, she would be so happy to go with you and just do normal stuff and thrifting is just super cute in her opinion? She’s not judgmental at all when it comes to you. Once again, the only person she seems to really dislike and throw any judgment on is Jeff, so like, that might flare up once and again. I also think that in her relationship with you, she’s just really understanding, attentive and willing to go the extra mile to make you feel safe and secure and follow your own guidelines and boundaries when doing so. She’s big on the respect thing. You two are always laughing too? Like, just giggling at everything because it’s always such a fun, wholesome time together. Interestingly enough, Jane can be quite bossy too and likes having total control as well, but she’d work on compromising more just to make you happy (and because compromise is a mostly good thing). Honestly I’m just going to stress communication, but that goes for any relationship really. She also takes a bit to open up in a relationship but that’s because of y’know her history and stuff. But once she does open up? You have a best friend and a solid girlfriend. I also think she’s protective of you. She just wants to make sure you’re safe, happy and healthy on all facets (emotional, physical and mental) and will do whatever she can to make sure you’re in those safe zones. Jane is admittedly a bit of a go getter so sometimes being a hermit won’t mesh entirely well with her, but she gets it. She might encourage you, but let her know if it’s annoying or makes you upset because she will pull back. I think Jane would hope for you to become more open with her as the relationship goes on, but it’s not like she’d actively force you either. Other than that, she’d probably take you to gardens and stuff just to appreciate nature with you. Lil walks out in the woods, looking for fun mushrooms, all that cottagecore stuff lmfao. Any other witches use lavender for literally everything?

Ah, yes, everyone’s go to calmer and de-stresser: Lavender. I burn it and use the oil and have it in a perfume and drink it in tea. But why Is it so great for literally everything?

Lavender is a very useful antidepressant and anti-anxiety herb. I drink it almost every night in a tea to calm myself. For those of us who stress all the time (especially students who tend to work themselves too much!!) it’s a great go-to when you really aren’t feeling it. Plus, it’s great for those who suffer from insomnia or people who just have trouble getting tired at night.

A great combo for stress relief for your diffuser:

5 drops Grapefruit essential oil

5 drops Lavender essential oil

But not only can it help your mental state, it also helps digestion and IBS! It’s soothing for your stomach and has a sweet taste, which can make any tea smell and taste amazing.

Lavender tea blends well with:

Green tea (De-stressing and digestion)

Hibiscus (Cramps, helps regulate digestive/resprastory tract) [[only add a little though, it’s super strong!!]]

Chamomile (nausea, athsma)

Look for shampoos with lavender in them because it is amazing for getting rid of dandruff! If you have a sensitive scalp, don’t fret – it’s very soothing on the skin.

I’m sure we all know that lavender is amazing in witchcraft, too, but what can you do with it?

It’s been used as a placeholder for calmness and peace in ancient magicks for hundreds of years. It’s attractive scent makes it favorable in love spells, as well as its heavily used property to induce happiness.

It is bound to Mercury and the element air.

Little things to do with lavender:

Keep a satchet of lavender with you to promote happiness and good health

Rub the flowers on you to attract love

Burn stalks of dried lavender to attract money, love, happiness, good health, passion, protection and sucess

Put lavender under your pillow and think about something you desire. If your dream contains something related, you’ll get said desire

Grow it in your garden to bring good luck

It has been said to attract Fae because of its beautiful scent!

It can make a great offering to many deities as it is such a wide-variety herb. You can make it into a potion, burn it on charcoals, or just sprinkle it around an effigy to show how much you love them!

Just thought I would pay tribute to my favorite herb of all times. I use it in lterally every spell for different things, sometimes like a signature. I hope you guys can find a lot of help from it, too!

Magickal Household Plant Master Post

Since I’m on a plant kick today because I’ve decided to give my green thumb a try, I’m creating this master post relating to household plants. This is especially useful for witches like myself who don’t know the first thing about taking care of a plant inside the house besides watering and letting the darn thing get some sun! So, here we go:

Common TOXIC (as in you may not want to get these if you have kids or pets) household plants and their properties: *Aloe (toxic to pets, not toxic to humans) - wards against evil, protection from intruders and household accidents, brings good luck (also great for burns and good for your skin)

*Lillies, as well as the Peace Lily - love, comfort, harmony

*Ivy - protection, drive away negativity, promote fidelity and fertility

*Poinsetta - purity, celebration of winter holidays

*Snake plant (aka Mother-in-law’s Tongue) - long life, prosperity, beauty, health, strength, intelligence

*Dumb cane - for keeping secrets and starting gossip (not recommended for a magickal household)

*Arrowhead plant/vine - brings luck

*Myrtle - love, fertility, youth, peace, money

*Mistletoe - protection, love, hunting, fertility, health, exorcism

*Amaryllis - hidden or platonic love, friendship, retirement

*Gardenias - love, peace, healing, spirituality, psychic awareness

*Fig (aka weeping fig, fig tree, ficus, ficus tree) - divination, fertility, love, prosperity, guards against poverty and hunger if placed in kitchen, aids in restful sleep if placed in bedroom

Common NON-TOXIC household plants and their properties:

*African Violet - love, protection, promotes peace and spirituality

*Lavendar (can be toxic If your pets ingest a lot of it) - love, friendship, calm, protection

*Spider plant - protection, healing, absorb negativity while improving the energy and air quality of your home

*Bamboo -  protection, luck, hex-breaking, wishes, protection, helps with depression

*Ferns (some ARE toxic, however the Boston Fern is not) - protection, luck, can aid in summoning rain 

*Ti plant (can be toxic If your pets ingest a lot of it) - good luck, can be used to attract money if you place a coin under it

*Succulents (hens and chicks, burro/donkey tail, etc.) - love, abundance

*Palms - spirituality, good vibes, protection from unwanted spirits, ghosts, astral entities

*Cacti (non-toxic, yet can still be painful for kids and pets if they touch the spines) - protection, strengthens will, increases sexual stamina if juices are added to a love potion, guards against intruders if a cactus is placed in the North, East, South and Western points of your home

*Jasmine - love, money, prophetic dreams, seduction

*Other plants and veggies that can be grown indoors

***I’ve recieved a lot of feedback on this post stating that most of the NON-TOXIC plants I have listed are in fact toxic. I’ve made a few notes and changes, but let me just add that many plants can be toxic to animals if they eat a bunch of it. Vomiting, diarrhea, and depression are side effects that your pet may exhibit if they’ve eaten too much of a plant that can be considered non-toxic or mildly toxic. It’s always best to seek medical attention for your pet if they show these sympstoms, just in case. Otherwise, try to keep your plants out of reach of your pets, please!

Use your best judgement on which plants are best for your household. I’m not an expert, these are just some of the things I have gathered through research. If you’re afraid your pets are gonna eat your plants and get sick, then maybe you should get a different plant that is edible or otherwise in no way a danger to the animal.

You can refer to the ASPCA’s website on toxic and non-toxic plants if you’re unsure, but please keep in mind they do not mention the severity of the toxicity of the plants they list, so you can do a simple google search to find out for yourself, but AGAIN please do not replace any information you find on the internet to actual medical care! Consult with your veterinarian if your pet it sick!

How to Witchcraft: Knot, Thread & Cord Magic

It’s a funny thing. I use knot/cord magic A LOT but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a book devoted to it (I like Scott Cunningham’s chapter on it in Earth Power, pg.91). It’s so versatile though that there SHOULD be more about it.

As a newer witch, knot/cord magic is something I HIGHLY recommend. Especially if you are in the broom closet/can’t light candles or have a fire to burn herbs. It’s easy to do and it’s inconspicuous. There are so many ways to incorporate it too. 

First let’s talk about the different kinds of knot/cord magic:

Braiding: Used for long term, braid three or more colored cords while focusing on your intention and use when necessary. 

Knot 1:  Tie 9 knots on a colored cord while focusing on your intention and place some place where it will not be disturbed (by storing it, burning it or burying it- so the knots will never be undone).

Knot 2: Tie 9 knots on a colored cord while focusing on your intention to store energy. Release knots one by one in the order they were tied to release the energy when needed, once a day consecutively.

Crochet/Knitting: Use to imbue intention into the item so that the wearer benefits (e.g. warmth, self confidence, protection, etc).

Cross Stitch/Embroidery: Used to imbue intention into the item. Especially useful with sigils. 

How to do it:

There are a few methods known when working with knot & cord magic.

Braided cords typically do not get undone, and are stored for long term use. While braiding the cord (typically in 9’ or 9” measurements but if you don’t follow the threefold law this is irrelevant— unless your deity is a triplicate that you plan to invoke). To Do: Concentrate on your intent while braiding the cord, visualizing/thinking about it coming to fruition. Once you’re finished braiding consecrate the cord and put it away until you need it. This isn’t meant for an every day thing, just an as needed cord.

Knots can be harnessed in a few ways but the gist is that you’re using the knots to store power related to the intention of your spell. 1) Where you don’t ever untie them, 2) When you untie them as power is needed, or 3) when you untie one knot each day for consecutive days.

Typically you would tie a bead onto one end of the cord so that you know what your starting end is. You can also melt the ends with fire to prevent fraying. To Do: Pass the cord through a candle flame or incense to cleanse it while saying the words of your spell (i.e. the REASON you’re doing this) then you begin tying the knots in the cord you want to say the following while focusing on the intention/the type of power you are storing:

By knot of ONE, the spell’s begun By knot of TWO, it cometh true By knot of THREE, so mote it be By knot of FOUR, this power I store By knot of FIVE, the spell’s alive By knot of SIX, this spell I fix By knot of SEVEN, events I’ll leaven By knot of EIGHT, it will be Fate By knot of NINE, what’s done is mine

Generally knots are tied in this order: 

1———6———4———7———3———8———5———9———2

But I have seen other variations, I just find this one easier to follow because it doesn’t start in the middle so you have a reference point for which end contains the 1st knot (the bead). You can also tie things INTO the knot to strengthen the magic even further (hair, wood, stones/gems, etc) just make sure to destroy or bury those items if you choose to untie the knots. Some people use knotted cords as a powerful talisman and don’t untie the knots, if this is the case you want to store it where it won’t be disturbed, burn it so it will never physically be untied or bury it where it will disintegrate in the earth and also never physically be untied. I have done all three methods of handling and I can’t say I prefer one over the other. The really great thing about storing energy is that it’s raised when it will be the most powerful (increases, like success or protection, would be sometime from the new moon to full and decreases, like a binding, would be sometime from the full moon to new) but the power is now stored for use whenever you need it. 

Crocheting/Knitting is something I consider part of knot and cord magic because you can purposefully stitch your intention into the item you’re making. A lot of time, if for friends/family, I weave warmth and protection into things I make for them. So I might say something like:

With every stitch that I make, the wearer of this item will be protected and warm, but as the need arises they will be alert until they get to safety. Never too hot, but not cold either, This item will keep them comfortable. By earth, air, flame and sea, as I say, so shall it be.

And I’ll focus on that while I continue to make the item. Off topic, but notice how I put a clause in there that they will be alert if the need arises until they reach safety. I don’t want them to be so warm and comfortable that they neglect their own safety. 

Cross-stitch/embroidery: You can embroider sigils using color appropriate cloth and thread! You can cross stitch spells into your work (like cross stitching an acorn and imbuing it with luck and protection, which actual acorns can represent). There are so many different things you could do, let your imagination do the work!

White: purity, truth, sincerity, spirituality, the goddess, peace, higher self, virginity(as in the woman’s mind is owned by no man), a substitute for any other color. “Bloody Mary” Abuser Curse (Lady Gaga Inspired)

A curse to use against those who abused you in the past to get justice and return your pain to them. Inspired by Lady Gaga’s song “Bloody Mary”.

You Will Need:

A jar with a Lid

Garnet

Red Ink

Chili Powder

Onion

Paper

Black Marker/Pen

3 black candles

2 red candles

Burn safe bowl

Taglock 

(Optional) Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Mary” playing in the background

Steps:

Light your candles and have them burning as you cast the curse. Turn on the song if you choose to listen to it during.

On your paper write down all of your frustrations, past pain or even just scribble and shred it to put your anger and energy into it. Do what feels right for you. Once done put it all into a bowl and light it on fire to burn it to ash. Do this with caution and keep water or salt near you in case it flares.

In your jar add the taglock and cover it in the herbs and ashes. Pour in the red ink making sure to cover everything with it. Seal the jar shut and bury it or store it somewhere dark that you won’t see it.

Afterwards rest and cleanse yourself. If needed or desired do a self-love spell and/or a spell to help you get over the past. Be sure to also seek professional help and aid about the pain, they can help. 

My Biggest Problem

“Bullh*ck, misophonia is the worst thing that ever happened to me, it’s ruined everything, ect.!!” 

But, my young, young dudes, I have some news. Adulthood is surprising as h*ck and has a lot of bumps and turns and I never anticipated in my whole of angsteenager existence that there would be life after miso.

For example, if anyone’s watched the video (x) I posted a hot while ago, they’d see that I’ve come out as ftm transgender and I’ve left home. I got engaged in December to @living-with-miso, my longtime Tumblr crush and we’re getting married next month.

 My type 3 Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) exploded into wondering each day if I can walk or use my hands. 

My computer broke. I need to buy socks. The milk in the fridge is expired.

And I know that mostly sounds like, 

“Gee, thanks Stephan, so you’re saying everything gets worse?” 

but man, I actually would say I’ve never been happier. 

You see, when you move out, you move away from the people who trigger you the most in the world: your family. You may have new people who trigger you, like a roommate, but eventually, you’re gonna be in a situation where you can more or less have total control over your environment. Make sure you choose a life partner that accepts every inch of you, and don’t settle for anything less.

When you grow up, you’ll be able to manage your life in a way you can control, to an extent. You literally don’t even have to attend classes in person anymore, almost anything is available online! Yeah, you’ll have days where you just want to rip your ears off and replace your hands with chainsaws because you need to attend job training, attend a family BBQ, or hurriedly make an Irish exit to said BBQ, but that’s not going to be the majority of your life anymore.

And that’s where I’m at. I’m out from the influence of more “adult” adults at the age of 22 and am finally the captain of my own life. 

Which is terrifying, but empowering. I decide if I can attend gatherings, I decide if I want to leave, I decide if I want to stay inside and live on the internet, I decide if I can live with my partner, and I decide if I want to eat cookies for breakfast unless Ashley is home and and tells me no cookies for breakfast (#marriage). 

And if anyone (other than my future wife) has a problem with the way I live my life or make decisions, guess what? I can decide to take my Scissors of H*ck You and cut them right the h*ck out of my beautiful rainbow life.

I may not have the power to decide whether or not I have misophonia, whether my hands work on any given day, or whether or not I have sensory meltdowns, but I can decide how I handle these things.

So I guess my point today is that miso life gets better once you’ve grown up. If you can make it that far, you’ll be happier. And god, I wish my teenage self had known how happy I would one day be. Thank god I decided to stick around.

So stick around, guys. Your life may look like shooty macaroni art, but it’s just practice at this point. One day, you’ll be Bob Ross and decide when and where your next happy little tree goes.
