people like to point out that Snape joining the Death Eaters was a bad thing as if we don't all agree on that. of course it was a bad thing. it was a violent, hateful cult. but it *was* a CULT. and you know who cults recruit? the vulnerable. this is why i don't think comparisons to sirius work, not with snape and not with draco. sirius had james, he had remus, he had support outside his hateful family. severus was completely alone, and then the only people who tolerated him were other slytherins who thought they could use him in some way. it wasn't lily's job to be snape's entire support system, but it's still tragic that he didn't have support anywhere else. so is it bad he joined a hateful cult? yes. but does it also make sense why he was in a prime position to be swept up in it? also yes.
I understand some of you are 19 but that is not an old man, he's 32.
