this is from the same wip as my snippet from a few days ago, which i mentally refer to as my embarrass remus as much as possible fic even though it has a real title :)

“Morning, sleeping beauty,” the pretty stranger says. Remus is sure his face is positively glowing by now. Is there even any blood left in the rest of his body?

“H-hi,” he stutters softly. “I am so sorry, oh my God, I can’t believe I fell asleep on you and—um...” Remus finds he cannot finish this sentence, cannot admit to drooling on a stranger’s shoulder after sleeping on him for who knows how long. While the man couldn’t even leave, because they are on an airplane.

“Oh, you mean the drool?”

The flushed warmth in Remus’s face spreads rapidly down his throat. He drops his face into his hands, wondering if he can stay there, avoiding eye contact with this pretty man, for the rest of the flight.

“Don't worry, the flight’s long. It’ll dry,” says the man in a light, playful tone. When Remus looks up out of pure shock more than a conscious desire to come out of hiding—his eyes lock with the man’s just in time to watch as one of those pale grey irises disappears in a wink. A wink. Remus feels a bit faint. Oh, he is a pathetic, useless man. And he is not going to survive this flight.

“God, Lily, why do you let me do these things?!” Remus wails, flopping down on the bed so his face is squished into the pillow.

A giggle comes from his phone. “I don't have any control over you, Remus. You did this yourself,” Lily says.

“That's not true! You know you do!” he whines. “You encouraged me to flirt with him!”

Lily sighs. “Yes, well, I didn't think you were going to have a great big panic about it.”

“That's not true either,” Remus complains, exaggerating the pout already present on his face. Never mind that she can't see it through the phone; she'll know it's there. “If you don't know me better than that by now that's entirely your fault.” He finishes strong by sticking out his tongue.

She sighs again, and Remus begins to feel rather offended. What has he done that's worthy of two sighs?

My followers know I hate talking about politics and current events, and generally refuse to do so, but this is important.

A bill has been introduced in the US that would make all pornography a federal crime. Owning it. Creating it. Distributing it.

Under this law, fanart of nude characters would be a federal crime.

Under this law, depictions of homosexuality or simply being transgender, would be considered pornography and a federal crime.

This bill is not going to pass.

However, the reason for this bill is to continue to push the "overton window". The reason for this bill is to make banning pornography seem more and more normal to everyone until they can actually do that.

And remember, they consider depictions of gay characters and transgenders characters "pornography" in any context, including platonic.

They have been working on this for a decade now and it has been working.

If you are one of the people in fandom who thinks that "nasty" porn on AO3 should be banned because it's "icky" or "immoral", then this mental scam is working on you.

Censorship is never about protecting people.

Censorship is always about control.

Do not let the rising moral panic affect your mind and make you weak to propaganda that lets others control you and control what you watch and read.

Do not fall for the scam.

When they say they are going to ban "pornography" it means they're going to ban anything they don't like by calling it "pornography" and they don't like you!!

i feel like sirius and remus being physically affectionate with each other would be so awkward. like they both enjoy it because it’s from the love of their life but it’s just so funny. sirius never really learned how to be physically affectionate so he just doesn’t really know what he’s doing and remus is like afraid of hurting him and he’s just so tall and gangly and it’s just so adorable because they’re both lowkey touch starved.

ngl if a bi girl is talking about a hot guy and shes like “im so gay” you dont get to be like “but-” no buts. shes feeling queer about it.

trans lives are more precious than ever

i've spent the last couple of days feeling truly sickened and hopeless, and i haven't yet figured out what it all means for my place in fandom. it has felt like there hasn't been anything i could add to the conversations taking place as someone with almost no platform, and at a time when voices far more eloquent and important than mine were already having an impact.

however, more than ever the events of the last few days have shown me how important it is to speak up, even in my tiny corner of the world, even if it's clumsy, even if I cannot see the visible impact. this should not - and cannot - be the burden for trans people to speak about alone, and i am ashamed it took me so long to say something.

trans women are women and trans rights are human rights and the world is a better place with you in it.

if you are reading this and you are trans: i love you. i love you and your life is precious and you deserve the entire world. you are a miracle. please know my inbox is always open if you ever need a place to just be Heard. i love you 🫂🫂🫂

do not look away. listen and engage and stay educated. be vocal about the harm jkr has done/is doing, have those conversations with others if you can, both irl and online, and do not leave the labour of this task to those most impacted by its harm.

dearest heart messrsrobyn (on tiktok) has put together some truly incredible resources on ethical fandom engagement, including his podcast.

idk how much longer i will be in this space, but however long it ends up being, i intend to be loud about this. trans folks are too important not to be.
