Axl: You never know what's gonna happen at a Guns N' Roses concert. We don't even know ourselves from one minute to the next. We don't even use a song list anymore
“Just as the record label frenzy around us was heating up, some fallout from our Gardner space partying hit us. The cops busted down our door one night looking for Axl. They wanted him to answer what turned out to be a bogus rape charge. Our days became numbered there at Gardner. Axl didn’t do the crime, but the incident inspired a great song, “Out to Get Me,’ which we quickly added to our sets in early 1986. You can hear the depth of our collective anguish in that song, shitting ourselves that the record labels might get wind of the situation and break off their courtship: “You can't catch me, I’m fuckin’ innocent!”

“The first time I discovered Night Train wine was on one of these epic nocturnal flyering campaigns—which were best accomplished while drinking from a brown paper bag. Afterward I was happy to find that the liquor store around the corner from our storage space also stocked it. At $1.29 a bottle, Night Train instantly became a band staple; we started piecing together the song “Nightrain” a week later while rehearsing before another flyer-posting outing”

KELLY NICKELS OF L.A. GUNS ABOUT HIS FAV BANDS
WHAT IF YOU COULD TURN SOME FANS ONTO A FEW GROUPS THEY PROBABLY HAVEN'T HEARD?
Kelly: My favorite band is Dogs D'Amour! I love them because they are mostly acoustic now. I love their songs and attitude.
Their singer, Tyla, is a great lyricist. I'd definitely recommend them. I also listen to a lot of Elvis. Of course, the Sex Pistols, Jerry Lee Lewis, And some Pato Banton, he's a reggae guy. I love reggae! And I listen to a lot of really early rock songs on K-EARTH (a classic rock station in L.A.). Those songs were killer, man. They didn't even have distortion and they still rock!
ok alright. Can you recommend me some writers here who are currently taking requests for GNR, please?<3
i can recommend some blogs who are currently open for requests @slashes-slut @grlcarcass

Axl about his different voices
MG: How do you do it?
Axl: I think I'm actually a second baritone. I used to take choir classes and sit there reading music and seeing if I could get away with fooling the teacher by singing other people's parts. We had this teacher who was pitch-perfect. He had ears like a bat, man. Like radar. So, in order to get away with singing someone else's part, you'd really have to get it down. Or else, he'd know exactly what corner of the room it's coming from. So, I guess I really started working on my different voices back then by trying to mess with my teacher’s head! (laughing) He used to wonder how come he’s hearing a soprano in the bass section!
AXL ABOUT GNR FIRST LINEUP
Axl: This lineup has been together for two years. Izzy and I have been playing together for about 12 years. He started out on drums, then switched to bass and finally guitar. At one point he was singing and I was playing keyboards and bass.
Izzy: I couldn't sing, so that didn't work out! (Laughs)
Axl: Then, about three years ago, I was in a band called Hollywood Rose and then another one called LA Guns, which is how I got to know the rest of the guys.
Eventually we decided that this was the right lineup and that we were gonna stick together
