on my 36th gameplay at this point and this just breaks my heart man .. i can’t believe they were like this for over a year .. we know andrew was miserable but ashley must’ve been so lonely too :( she had no friends at school and ended up dropping out, the closest person she’s ever had doesn’t talk to her anymore .. and here, andrew can’t even cheer her up properly when they used to be everything for one another 😞

i dont think fictional characters would want to participate in anti/proship discourse. wouldnt that be funny though? like imagine steven universe telling the crystal gems that he had to death threat jasper because she was darkshipping

Spoilers for DR Zero

When you’re reading Danganronpa Zero and despaircest hits you in the face.

While [Mukuro] spoke, it was like she fell into a fever, the expressions on her face turned into ecstasy. It was so completely absurd that it would have been hard for anybody to think of it as anything but a joke, but I understood that this was real. It might’ve been because the memories of Junko Enoshima inside me led to that conclusion.

“Hey, you don’t get it right? I don’t think anybody could. But you know, only I can understand it…”

Consumed by ecstasy, even Ikusaba-san’s breaths began to become ragged.

“Only I am able of understanding her. That’s why she needs me. She still hasn’t realized that but, maybe she is only pretending not to realize. Ufu, that’s because she’s so shy. Ufufufu.”

Seeing this intoxicated Ikusaba-san continue to talk like that, repelled me.I knew that she definitely didn’t have normal feelings for Junko Enoshima, but that sort of thing shouldn’t have anything to do with me.

“…That’s right, it has nothing to do with me.” (x)

Before S2 came out I thought that Vi was going to be forced to be an enforcer because her sisters a terrorist and technically she's not supposed to be out of jail so they'd give her an ultimatum to be sent back to jail or be an enforcers until they catch Jinx. And I thought the conflict between her and Cait would be that Cait didn't stand up for her or try to find another solution. that'd be cool

i'll never get over how badly people who want to come up with ideas of how tcoaal can be "better" or "fixed" miss the points of anything.

like the other day on twitter i see this thing like. "THIS INCEST SHIT SUUUCKS IT SHOULD JUST BE ABOUT TWO SIBLINGS WHO JUST EAT ALL THE PEOPLE THEY DON'T LIKE" and it's like. oooh who’s an edgy boy yes you are oooh what a hot take your statements are so controversial what an edgy boy

and the other day like, some of my friends show me this tcoaal rewrite that involves a big sister Ashley (i only saw this post once and don't remember it well). different mom that's an entirely different shade of abusive and a whole different kind of trauma put into Ashley who wants to be a boxer now in defiance of how she was raised and i'm like... why does this have to be a tcoaal rewrite? you've created a genuinely really interesting concept... just tweak it to remove tcoaal from it's DNA entirely and you have this super solid original story idea. and i'm just here like... it's just so annoying. you have this fantastic idea for something original, why do you need to bill it as what makes canon better?

like, it's fine. it's fine to not like the incest. as much asi like to make fun of antis, there ARE genuine fans of this game that aren't really big on coffincest but like everything else- but at least THEY still acknowledge the incest is an important part of the story's DNA and it's themes, so even if they're not in it to ship it they're still here to enjoy the story.

it's always so boggling to me. granted, i've always hated fix fics- i'm totally fine with radical AUs and rewrites, but maybe it's just my personal gripes of "haha i FIXED canon it's better now >:)" like... i can appreciate a fix fic like "oh this character didn't die bc i think it's dumb" but then these are people who fundamentally don't understand what they're trying to "fix."

and like i know. antis are antis. antis always do this. but it's like... man. why can't people just say they don't like a thing bc it's not their cup of tea instead of wanting to "fix" it in a way that ruins it???

An aspect of Andrew and Ashley’s relationship as kids I’m very interested in is that, when you read between the lines, they actually care about each other quite a bit.

On Leyley’s birthday, after she rants about how birthdays are “all nonsense anyway” and ends said rant with “who cares,” Andy responds that he does. In turn, Leyley is shown to have genuinely appreciated his willingness to celebrate it, as she made a drawing of that day and kept it with her until adolescence.

Prior to that, Leyley notably doesn’t make a fuss when she recognizes Andy can’t afford a cake. She also states she went along with Andy choosing the lemon muffins because she thought he wanted them.

In the flashback about Leyley’s suspension from school, she’s displeased that Andy’s cooked her “the same crap” again but quietly eats it anyway. This, in conjunction with the previous point, suggests that as much of a brat as she is, she does (in a way) understand that Andy is trying his best to look after her.

Leyley appears concerned for Andy as he breaks down at the grandparents’ house and asks him if he’s okay. When he asks her if she wants to be friends, she replies “I thought we already were.”

In the abstract segment within Andy’s subconscious at the start of 3A, his family is represented by ghosts. At one point, the player is given a choice - either Andy gets yelled at by his teacher, his mother, or Pink Ghost/Leyley. When he takes away Pink Ghost’s coloring pencils, her reaction is a quiet expression of sadness as opposed to a roar.

The same segment also contains a similarly abstract “family portrait.” Renee’s Lime Ghost is the one depicted as angry - Pink Ghost, contrary to expectation, is depicted as sad.

I find the last two points particularly noteworthy. Leyley’s external belligerence doesn’t seem to leave as visceral of an impression on Andy as the underlying reasons for it.

Everyone else sees a helion. He sees a heartbroken little girl.
