UH WHAT
UH...... WHAT.........
My cats have this meow that means "please come with me to fix this" after which they'll lead me to the problem in question, usually a empty (or 'empty') food bowl or a closed door they want open. They look at the 'problem', they look back at me, clear message.
What fascinates me is how this illustrates what they percieve as being in the realm of my 'power.' I control the food, I control the door, sure, but my cats love to sit on the balcony in the sun, and it has happened plenty of times that on a rainy day they come get me, go to the balcony and show me... the rain. "Please fix this" they say. "Please get rid of the wet"
"Silly kitty," I say, "I can't control the rain." I then walk into the shower and turn on the rain.

How the types react to stress (based on defence mechanisms)
Esfj: reaction formation and dissociation
Estj: projection and repression
Isfj: withdrawal and denial
Istj: sublimation and displacement
Esfp: regression and denial
Estp: regression and acting out
Isfp: denial and turning against the self
Istp: acting out and rationalisation
Enfj: displacement and passive-aggressive behaviour
Entj: intellectualisation and projection
Infj: dissociation and sublimation
Intj: introjection and isolation
Enfp: passive-aggressive behaviour and withdrawal
Entp: repression and rationalisation
Infp: turning against the self and introjection
Intp: isolation and intellectualisation
Key to defence mechanisms (basics)
Repression: Feeling is hidden and forced from the consciousness to the unconscious because it is seen as socially unacceptable
Denial: Refusal to accept external reality because it is too threatening; arguing against an anxiety-provoking stimulus by stating it does not exist
Regression: Falling back into an early state of mental/physical development seen as "less demanding and safer"
Reaction formation: Acting the opposite way that the unconscious instructs a person to behave
Acting out: Direct expression of an unconscious wish or impulse in action, without conscious awareness of the emotion that drives the expressive behaviour
Isolation: Separation of feelings from ideas and events, for example, describing a murder with graphic details with no emotional response
Dissociation: Temporary drastic modification of one's personal identity or character to avoid emotional distress; separation or postponement of a feeling that normally would accompany a situation or thought
Rationalisation: Convincing oneself that no wrong has been done and that all is or was all right through faulty and false reasoning
Projection: Shifting one's unacceptable thoughts, feelings and impulses onto someone else, such that those same thoughts, feelings, beliefs and motivations are perceived as being possessed by the other.
Introjection: Identifying with some idea or object so deeply that it becomes a part of that person. For example, introjection occurs when we take on attributes of other people who seem better able to cope with the situation than oneself does
Turning against the self: Enables to deal with intense stress in the current moment by causing the self physical pain as distraction
Sublimation: The conscious decision to delay paying attention to a thought, emotion, or need in order to cope with the present reality; making it possible later to access uncomfortable or distressing emotions whilst accepting them
Displacement: Defence mechanism that shifts aggressive impulses to a more acceptable or less threatening target; redirecting emotion to a safer outlet
Intellectualisation: Concentrating on the intellectual components of a situation so as to distance oneself from the associated anxiety-provoking emotions
Withdrawal: Avoidance as a form of defence; It entails removing oneself from events, stimuli, and interactions under the threat of being reminded of painful thoughts and feelings
Passive-aggressive behaviour: Indirect expression of hostility
(Of course this doesn’t need to be true for everyone and we definitely do not only practice two of them but yet I’ve noticed kind of a pattern...)
I'm not a doc, but my doc told me 2 is a myth. The connection between Vitamin C and adhd meds was debunked - it was merely something drug users did in order to appear clean - they consumed a lot of Vitamin C before testing. It did not work.
The myth was later twisted to the version we hear today. Supposedly even some doctors believe it, although definitely not most. Idk about that one - never met one.
Some smarter/more informed people on the adhd tumblr seem to agree with my doc, so I believe it.
not necessarily aimed at you personally but I figure you and others following might know things: I am waiting for an appointment to talk about finally getting ADHD meds and I am dying to know two things: will it stop or at least HELP these sugar cravings for the dopamine machine and also is it true I can't have fruit juice anymore
It might. It's more likely it will just help you control your actions in response to the cravings and/or make you less interested in eating for a while. Be ready for the dreaded nighttime munchies though... post-meds I have zero self-control.
There is some evidence to suggest that having meds with, say, orange juice can make the meds a little less effective. I think as long as you don't just take them with orange juice and nothing else, you'll be fine. It's rarely a big enough issue that doctors bring it up. (The weird trend of eating charcoal bread etc was a bigger issue because activated charcoal basically sucks up and neutralises some "poisons" in your body... like stimulants and anti-depressants. Yikes.)
For any new medication PLEASE talk to your doctor about any concerns or questions, no matter how silly you feel they are
