finding comfort in homes broken differently than yours

on any given day i am always fucking thinking of dennis awkwardly kissing frank on the top of the head and asking "was that okay to do?" in the softest and most hesitant voice, i am always thinking of him being told yeah, it was nice, and i am Always thinking about the fact that he recognized this was something they both seemingly wanted and deliberately telegraphed his movements and asked if that was okay to do. was that okay to do. was it okay, because i have no reference point for this kind of uncorrupted platonic, familial, purposeless affection. did you mind that. did i embarrass myself. did i cross a line. did i read the signs correctly. is this what it's like to have a father. have you ever had this before? is this what we're meant to do? was that okay to do?

I see so many people talking about how they want Glenn to play a villain in a film when the man has said he'd like to play a normal guy for once. I want to see him get emotionally obliterated and cry at least three times. Anyone else with me?

it is so sickening to think about mac's desperation to be loved and how the neediness that radiates from him is ultimately what inhibits him from forming healthy relationships.. the gang is so tired of him constantly questioning his self-worth ("you guys like me, right?") that they've given up on giving him any attention whatsoever ("it's really a cry for [...] attention, [...] ignore those" / "treat it like a baby / "we don't like you either way"). he needs validation but seeks it in a manner that is so off-putting that nobody wants him around. he writers letters to chase utley. he visits his mom and dad, even though they never want to see him. he threatens suicide as a cry for help and is encouraged to follow through. self-worth is in the body, so why doesn't anyone care that he's been working out? he smothers his dog with affection but can't even get it to stay.

something something dennis and mac both constantly needing validation because of their childhood but it manifests in different ways (mac becoming dependent on others (especially if they treat him badly) because of it, dennis deluding himself into thinking he deserves it and finding ways to supply it for himself). does this make sense am i cooking. idk

best thing abt the sunny gang is that theyre all in their late 40s but only like two of them have cars on a good day & im pretty sure only one of them has a laptop & half of them r divorced & the only people they interact with on a regular basis r also people theyve known since high school & none of those people even fw them. its helping me set reasonable expectations for the future
