beaming a message into the minds of all autistic 12 year olds: the way people treat each other in th shows is actually really really mean in real life. don't do that. literally anything but that. Thank you
I like thinking about how Blitzø and Stolas are compatible in their messed up ways, but there's one clear incompatibility between them, on ground on their unresolved traumas;
Blitzø has anger issues, overactive fight reaction
while Stolas has been verbally attacked & abused by Stella for at least 17 years
Stolas has avoidant issues, overactive flight reaction
while Blitzø has been abandoned and ignored by many people practically whole his life
So it fucks with their relationship.
In Ozzie's Stolas avoids confrontation, Blitzø feels he's ashamed of him and gets upset and aggressive after giving Stolas a lift.
Later in the series, Stolas texts less and ,,gives Blitzø space" which makes Blitzø worried that he's not wanted anymore. Then when he's offered the crystal, it triggers him, making him convinced completely that he's being abandoned again. He jokes rudely, Stolas feels he's mocked and so he leaves, which causes Blitzø to lash out, which causes Stolas to kick him out...
They really need to resolve their internal problems first in order to work out
I want to write a book called “your character dies in the woods” that details all the pitfalls and dangers of being out on the road & in the wild for people without outdoors/wilderness experience bc I cannot keep reading narratives brush over life threatening conditions like nothing is happening.
I just read a book by one of my favorite authors whose plots are essentially airtight, but the MC was walking on a country road on a cold winter night and she was knocked down and fell into a drainage ditch covered in ice, broke through and got covered in icy mud and water.
Then she had a “miserable” 3 more miles to walk to the inn.
Babes she would not MAKE it to that inn.
Lines of thought that seem Normal but are actually rooted in extreme puritanism:
-Seeing the nude human body is inherently traumatic -Sex scenes in art are pointless -Wearing kink-related clothing in public is the similar to performing a sex scene in front of unwilling participants -Depicting female characters expressing sexuality is always degrading -People's sexual fantasies are always an endorsement of the behavior they want to see in real life -Sex work is more traumatic and coercive than other types of work The goal is to treat sex as just another thing people do. That is a much healthier attitude than hiding it! It's not uniquely traumatic, it's not weird to talk about it or include it in society.
the biggest bullshit everrrrr is when people say "men and boys are punished for crying whereas women and girls are validated and comforted" it's such bullshit people will literally see a woman crying and call her an evil manipulative bitch
You won't be able to convince me Vox isn't introverted/socially anxious in some way. We don't see him leave Vee tower once during S1, he only talks to the paparazzi with a plan to control the narrative and then mind controls them into accepting it, and his preferred medium is something he can both control entirely and is usually scripted, meaning he knows exactly what topics will be discussed or what anyone else will be doing so he can prepare a reaponse in advance (Vox2Nite).
Plus, he has the "if all else fails hypnotize them" backdoor cheat to his powers.
There's a reason that, as soon as he went against a foe who wasn't following his very clear pre-prepared script and who he couldn't see to hypnotize into letting him control the narrative, he immediately fell apart.
Alastor and him are foils because Vox is very flashy and in your face, but he's using it to hide that he needs tight control over everything or else he'll fall apart. Alastor, however, relies on his personality being the draw, and he's excellent at rolling with the verbal punches.
Vox is an outgoing anxious introvert, and Alastor is a more subtle confident extrovert, and both of their mediums reflect this. Vox needs to distract you so you don't notice anything even slightly amiss, and Alastor needs to entertain you so you don't get bored without something to distract you.
