Let's get real and talk, As a trans man I don't feel welcome in the trans community tbh. there are so many hateful people in our community, that like to gatekeep or project their own shit on people. I'm so sick of other trans people telling OTHER TRANS PEOPLE that they are not trans because *insert reason here*. Honesty SHUT THE FUCK UP! There is no "right way to be trans".
I'm a passing trans man, who has had surgery, and I still get called a "transtrender" by dumbasses. Like fuck OFF!? Who tf are you to dictate who is trans???
Trans men CAN be feminine.
Trans men CAN be masculine
Trans men Can do what ever tf they want.
LET PEOPLE LIVE.
I'm proud to be trans and it pisses me off that other trans people put other people down, just because they are different from them. I haven't even looked at any trans tags in months because there is always someone putting other trans people down.
Worry about yourself and let people live their life man.
To any fic writers who worry they are wasting their time... I read a fic for a relatively small and inactive fandom about three years ago. And there was one specific scene where a character watched another dancing like an idiot to a beyonce song and it was so sweet and loving that even now years later I have that song on one of my spotify playlist so every once in a while it will play and remind me of that fic, and every time it does I smile and feel a little happier.
The stats on a fic will never really tell you if your writing touched someone. There's no numerical way to show you what impact you made. Maybe you are wasting time, or maybe you are writing something that someone will remember for a long time, something that will never fail to make them smile.
reading/writing fanfiction about your otp be like:
Ao3 writers are the strongest Avengers
There is literally no moral value to any gender. It is All Morally Neutral. It should go without saying but I think we've circled back societally to assigning value and personality based on gender
"what about people who already paid off their student loans?" then they should get a refund it's quite simple
It really is wild how people who don't understand what consent is really do not understand what consent is. The idea that they're supposed to know how someone wants to be treated, and err to the side of caution or even ask if they aren't sure is absurd when you genuinely do not understand the concept.
"What, you need consent for everything these days?" Literally yes. And not just these days, but always have and always will.
"Do I need consent to kiss my wife in the morning? Do I need consent to shake someone's hand after a business meeting? Do I need CoNsEnT to braid my daughter's hair?"
Yes, yes and yes. A neurotypical person of reasonably passable social skill should have the ability to either instinctively understand when their touch is welcome, or logically conclude when their touch is socially expected. If you truly, literally, genuinely cannot tell whether your own child delights in you playing with her hair or merely endures it, then yeah, maybe you shouldn't touch anyone at all, ever, before you learn how to do that.
"Do I need consent to make eye contact with strangers on the street? Do I need consent from everyone on board before I get on the bus?"
Okay now you're just throwing a tantrum because someone told you 'no'.
The girl next to me on the treadmill at the gym is reading ao3 like I wouldn’t recognize that font twenty miles away and half blind
the thing about being in a fandom for a long time is you inevitably develop very intense opinions about things you know objectively are absolutely meaningless but nonetheless make you want to gnaw through drywall like a feral cat and there's just nothing you can do about that
Sometimes i feel like younger queer kids are getting a bit to bold with openly talking to people they don’t know In The Context Of:
More than once i have had a younger/same age queer person come up to me in public settings and say something about “finding other gays” or clearly clocking me as nonbinary and I’m like :)))))))) hey buddy I’m here with my conservative parents can you fucking not out me :))))))))
Just say you like my outfit or hair and move on, fuck even tell me you like my shoelaces. Don’t call me gay and limp your wrist at me when you don’t even know me? Especially when there’s a bunch of ppl around?
thinking about the time back when i was in middle school & we had a bomb threat at the school and after standing outside for a couple hours while the place was searched we got taken back inside around when it was my particular lunch period, and the school was like "we know you only have like 15 minutes left in the lunch period now because of that but we're not gonna give you any extra time lol we're getting back on schedule"
and the Entire block of middle schoolers in the span of like 5 minutes all quickly organized & agreed that we were NOT leaving until we had had our proper amount of lunch time and flat out all refused to get up when administrators kept trying to get us to because what were they gonna do? give like a hundred different students detention?
anyway after like 40 minutes we'd decided we'd been given our due and agreed to leave and go back to class & i think that display of collectivism & power of unity was what radicalized me
ever have a blorbo live in your brain for so long they become their own blorbo variant that’s no longer fully attached to their source material and your original blorbo is still beloved and dear to you but now you also have a mutant blorbo clone who is dear to you in a different way?
a collection
anyway im really enjoying sandman so far. local personification of dreams gets trapped in a cringe fishbowl by fail magicians and stays there for 100 years out of sheer pettiness, more at 7
“Now you’re breaking more than my heart, Marinette!”
Had a very fun memory of when I was a kid and used plastic straws as a chewing stim toy before we even knew i was autistic, we just thought it was a good adhd focus thing since it worked.
All the teachers knew and understood why I had the straw and never yelled at me for it, and the other kids had no idea why but they just knew, “oh he needs that straw” and didn’t question it.
One day in second grade, we had a sub. She was new to the school and as she was giving us the activity while we sat on the floor (i dont remember the activity just that it was a floor activity) she saw my straw and went, “dont chew on things like that!” And scolded me in front of the class, taking my straw from me.
I of course didn’t do anything cause she was an authority figure and I couldn’t break the rule of defying authority figures so i just sat in disappointment, immediately feeling distressed cause my stim toy was taken from me.
The class was dead silent until one of them went, “miss- he needs that actually.” And then another one piped up, “yeah! He has one every day! It’s important he chews on it!”
None of them understood WHY i had it, but they respected that it was important
I got my straw back :3 and that was the best memory of accommodation from my classmates ive ever known
