A distinct lack of Halsin on my dash lately ๐ป๐
No offense meant to the Durge background, I'm sure it's compelling, but I'd like to play a protagonist where necrophilia isn't a canon part of their background.
'Tav is so boring compared to Durge who comes with a story' well its not my fault that you are uncreative... Tav is a blank sheet and you must fill the gaps to make them interesting which is the fun part.
rolling in bed thinking about halsin
his softness and his kindness. how he carries the burden so others don't have to. how he offers help and guidance to those asking. how he places others before himself.
halsin and his view on life itself. how he managed to survive the most brutal blows a life could offer. and not come out all bitter. how instead of guarding his heart, he opens it willingly.
and yet, how he carries the sorrow. the grief. the odd little fragments of survivor's guilt. how he feels the sharp edges of torn threads. the connection that was once there. the people that are now merely ghosts, only alive in his memory. his family, his mentors, all those he could not save.
i'm thinking of that halsin. and him saying
"I never thought I would outlive her."
Actually, you know what's disappointing? I was kinda looking forward to the idea of getting to share common interests with the next generation instead of having that gap in understanding with my own parents. It wasn't just about mom thinking I'm getting into Satanic stuff because I liked Pokรฉmon (seriously, cute little critters was Satanic to her?!), it was not having that chance to bond with them on a hobby.
Sad thing is, I think I kinda get it with how prevalent creeps are on the internet, trying to hit on minors and not taking the hint. And you know what, I'm sick to death of seeing those actual assholes harassing teens and sending offensive images.
But that's not the message a lot of us older fans are getting. Instead, it's like dealing with the resurrection of Prudishness all over again, gatekeeping What Is Acceptable for Adults.
It's a shame, because there's a chance for actual understanding and camaraderie there, because the rules for harassment and offensive imagery is something both older and younger fans can agree upon. It doesn't have an age requirement because it's expected of everyone. Someone pestering you for nudes? Give us a heads up and we'll report this ass and call them out. Someone being inappropriate regarding actual minors? Hell, we'll help boot them.
It seems to be when it involves fiction and art work that the alarm bells are going. Thing is, fiction is a different animal, not something you can peg a person by what they create. Sure, there's going to be stuff I never want to see and that's where the filtering is required instead of raising alarms. If it's happening to a fictional character, it's a filter. If it's happening to a real person, then it's a report.
โEw youโre an adult why are you in fandomโ Kid, if being mocked for fandom shit wasnโt enough to stop me when I was an actual 15 year old, hearing it from a 15 year old when Iโm 30 is genuinely hilarious
Norm previu o futuro:)
Wasn't expecting to get called out so early this morning.....
That's neurodiversity babe!
reddit was talking about this, but i feel like tumblr could get a scholarly debate going
For me, personally, Bioware's Mass Effect romances has soured me a lot towards the bashful, hesitant tropes, because they were frequently Femshep's while Maleshep had clear and present interest from Tali, Liara, Jack and Ashley ahead of time. There was another tendency for every one of Femshep's male LI options to talk about their past lover. Kaidan had Rana, Garrus had that turian scout, Thane had Irikah, and Jacob had Miranda.
It's not that people shouldn't have had past relationships, it's that the frequency of them discussing their ex, in glowing terms, is not a turn on before trying to start a romance with that LI. I mean, if you're Maleshep, only Miranda and Jack's romances ever involve discussion of an ex. None of his other potential female LIs ever talk about another in sad, wistful tones. Curiously, his male options do.
Those two things combined with Vega's literally ending in a date rape have forever put me off of any LI who seems like they're dragging their feet about a relationship the entire way.
Ok, Iโm probably very set on who Iโm romancing my first playthrough of Veilguard, but then I was wondering what might make me change my mind. And then I was wondering what everyone elseโs dealbreakers might be (and i wanted to ask before we learn much more about them!)
(Also to be clear, iโm just asking this out of curiosity, and not saying that any of these options are good or bad. this is just for funsies & i wont hold you to it ๐)
Actually I am curious now!
Personally I am sex repulsed ace but I love video game romances because I enjoy seeing what makes those little pixel fellas tick. Plus to me, it's just as much a part of the fantastical adventure story as all the bandit/goblin/demon murders committed by my character.
(Also sorry for not exploring the entire attraction spectrum, I ran out of poll options! Demi folks, consider yourselves part of the ace umbrella)
a non-selective plan for the resurgence of fic commissions
I wish I could describe just how weird it is to see so much love for this character when you're coming in from a fandom era where the overall attitude towards him was "Ew, he's old" or "He's SO borrrrriiiing!" And most of the affection was neck and neck between Solas and Cullen.
The pendulum has swung I guess
The only reason Blackwall doesnโt look like this in game is because if he did look like this no one would want to sleep with egg man or the catholic cop
