So someone sent an ask to a hetalia blog and I think the op deleted the ask but I’d already typed this out and I’m feeling strongly about it so I’ll post it myself even though without the context of an ask its cringy.
Basically, you cannot call the Hetalia fandom tainted or tell us we’re forever marked and we now, at this point in time, have to start making an effort to change.
Firstly, literally every single media out there will be tainted with bad fans, with bad content, with bad everything. Just like rule 34, if it exists, there will be problematic issues related to it.
We cannot be holding back a fandom for the actions of people 10 years ago who likely are not even a part of the fandom anymore or who are extremely different to who they are 10 years ago.
Fandoms are fluid and constantly changing with different members, trends and engagement.
It has been demonstrated through time, the fact that they were not in the fandom to witness it is not the fandoms fault. It is changed now, every single fandom for any book, movie franchise, youtuber, any piece of media will have changed drastically in 10 years time.
The fandom is not tainted. We are not inherenting anything other than a show that we can create content for and engage with whilst being completely disconnected from the past fandom.
We did want it ressurected. That is how they found us, thats how the raiders found the fandom, thats how many old and new fans found it. It was in a ressurection proccess, with tags and projects being made to engage new and old fans.
Its being ressurected because people enjoy the show. Thats it. A fandom is a group of people who currently enjoy a piece of media. It can have a generally good or bad viewership (and most large ones do have bad ones) but a fandom isn’t tainted, it physically cannot be tainted.
Do not put a burden on us that was never ours to own. We can only mold the fandom now, we can only influence it now, we can’t influence the or mold the past and you cannot expect us to.
You can either judge us as we are now or you, in a genuinely polite way, please mind your own business.
My community has been devastated by Hurricane Hanna on top of soaring covid cases. Contrary to what people on "Good Morning America" think, this was not a *good spot" for the hurricane to hit. Our region is often ignored by most of America but I'm asking for your help on behalf of a classmate. Any help would be appreciated, please boost if you cant donate.
“Qu xuexi,” meaning to go or be sent to study, is one of the most common expressions in Xinjiang these days. It is a euphemism for having been taken away and not having been seen or heard from since. The “schools” are re-education centers in which the detainees are being forced to take courses in Chinese and patriotism, without any indictment, due process or a fair hearing.

An easier way to tell the difference is through the literal meanings of "kita" and "sa'yo"
"Kita" means 'you' and "sa'yo" means something like 'to you'
This means that "Isinusampa kita" means "I curse you" and "I sinusampa sa'yo" means "I gravely promise to you"
But don't completely take my word, I didn't ask my parents (they're the native speakers)
Edit: DANG WROTE IT WRONG
SUMPA can have two meanings depending on moral purpose.
It can mean CURSE or GRAVE PROMISE.
"Isinusumpa ko" can mean "I curse" or "I gravely promise". It depends on the context, but putting different nouns can distinguish them.
Isinusumpa kita - means I curse you.
Isinusumpa ko sa'yo - means I gravely promise you.
Why would I say 'gravely promise' instead of just 'promise'?
The things is, using SUMPA for promise means you are definitely taking this promise seriously that you are willing to die for it.
There's a lighter and more casual way to say promise: Pangako.

Hello everyone!
I went to a BLM march yesterday and got some shots. It was an incredible experience and the energy levels were super high.
I wore a mask and had hand sanitizer on hand. I just wanted to experience and be a part of something so important.
