Good rant about Ray Toro (I just listened to Remember The Laughter and God.)

He's so, so, so ridiculously talented. Making an album almost all by himself, an amazing album at that, it's so, so admirable. It's easier said than done, making everything by yourself is so hard and he was so capable of doing it and he did such a beautiful job, cause Remember The Laughter is so beautiful. And let's not even talk about For The Lost And The Brave, which is so beautiful and heartbreaking, and the story behind is even more heartbreaking.

I love how you can tell the music he liked in every piece of art he did, cause it's so well done. As a guitarist, when I learnt to play Famous Last Words, I noticed so clearly how much Iron Maiden for example, inspired him in his music writing, that solo could perfectly be performed on a metal song. And that talks about how much he studied his own sound, other musicians sound, how he incorporated that in his own creations, everything. It's so beautiful to be able to recognise those little things.

And well, his song writing is absolutely beautiful, Isn't That Something is absolutely beautiful. He's such a talented person and usually overlooked, but he's so extremely talented, it's impossible to even put it into words, he's just amazing I love Ray Toro so much I love him

So uhhhh I got bored and randomly told my dad I wanted to play electric guitar. Being the cool dude he is, he borrowed one from his coworker.

Day 1: 30 minutes in, I snapped a string.

Day 2: Spent 30 minutes figuring out how to fix string, snapped the string I was replacing the broken one with while I was restringing it, had to use the string that's meant for the string below it. Not sure how to play riffs, and now I'm trying to play that opening guitar part in Disenchanted, except the lower 3 notes of that part are an octave lower. I still have no idea what I'm doing, and the amp I'm using doesn't have a gain knob, so it doesn't have that heavy sound that rock has. Very sad. But I will try to sort this out.

Day 2 UPDATE: Trying to play beginning of Demolition Lovers. I'm not doing it right but it still sounds the exact same so uhhh it's chill ig

Day 2 UPDATE AGAIN: WTF So I snapped a string again and then when I tried to restring it, the string snapped. Tried again, snapped again. What I'm currently learning is that either I suck at restringing or that Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings are hella undurable

Will update you guys when I make advances. Or backtrack. Idk.

Hi so uh I just finished reading this book for class and it made me feel emotions so I wanted to post about it cuz yeah. The book is Bel Canto by Ann Patchett. I feel simultaneously enlightened and empty at the same time. You should read it. It made me feel things. It might make you feel things too. Post is over.
