This exists. It’s a Netflix original called “Bright”. It got critically shit on despite being the answer to so many wishes. While it isn’t the best film of all time, it accomplishes everything it set out to, has incredibly rich well thought out world building. The writing is amazing because not one time did I have to say “why the fuck aren’t they doing the REAL thing?” Yet it’s a fictional setting. The acting was incredible.
What would modern times be like if LOTR has happened on Earth in the Middle Ages? What would the world be like FR if wizards had been FR this whole time? Wands would get confiscated and or destroyed and there would constant terrorist style magical bullshit here and there. Definite open descrimination and crazy socio imbalances and volatile political power struggles at all levels of and between all governments.
Not to mention, the “prophecy” aspect of the film doesn’t center around terrible child actors, and the hero reacts to the raised stakes the way most normal people would.
Imagine fighting at the battle of hogwarts and you turn to your left and see a muggleborn duelling a death eater, then the death eater disarms the muggleborn but then they pull out a gun and the death eaters starts laughing because “hahaha muggle technology could never kill me how cute” but then the muggleborn shoots them then BYE BYE DEATH EATER and the muggleborn starts running around hogwarts shooting all the death eaters
