I have headcanons regarding how poor Drayton's mental health actually is, and how his self-esteem is lower than a lot of people could ever expect. I don't feel like writing them at depth now, so for the time being here's a summary:

Drayton's upbringing caused a domino effect in his development, leading him to harboring an unpleasant blend of an inferiority complex and imposter syndrome. He became frighteningly good at masking it all under his facade, of being so coolheaded that hardly anything rattles him. Coping method goes brrrr.

Conveniently had Drayton standing next to Crispin, so I took advantage with some photos. I talk about Drayton enough, but I really do like Crispin a lot too. He's got his own comedic traits and is overall adorable. I really enjoy the dynamic he has with Drayton; they feel almost like total opposites.

I do have a headcanon that part of the reason why Crispin likes making healthy snacks for the club is so Drayton in particular can at least eat a little better. Which is very sweet of Crispy to consider.

I hear people talk about how punk clothing is expensive, how you don’t have enough money to buy docs so obv you aren’t a real punk, how you can’t buy pins anywhere, how punk jewelry is sooo expensive BULLSHIT

The backbone of punk is diy. Punk is messy, punk is making the best of what you have. Nothing is more punk than making your own beauty with the shit you find scattered about

Wanna have docs? Buy some knock offs for 20 bucks and add some spikes no one will care

Want patches? Embroider on some old fabric. Use paint, bleach, markers, whatever you have. If that’s not good enough, buy from small businesses when you can

Want pins? Make em. Use safety pins and a bottle cap and you got a pin. Just paint something on, if you don’t have paint, I’ve used white out and pens just do whatever. Also fr just um borrow from any big shitty chain store, not from small businesses tho

Want jewelry? Pliers are your best friend. Fix broken jewelry with em, use chains u found to make something. I’ve used a hanging plant wire to make a barbed wire bracelet with nothing but pliers. Just fuck around. Buy from small businesses and again, big shitty chains are fair game

Want spikes and cool metal shit? Literally just take any metal like literally anything and stick it to your clothes. Safety pins, can tabs (esp monster ones bc fun colors) lighter caps, make spikes out of cans, take chains outta the recycle bin

Punk is the most accessible subculture. Punk was made by people with no money, and anyone who tells you you need fancy shit to be punk ain’t a real punk. Punk is about fucking around with the idea of what you should be, so just have fun! There are literally no rules!

Thought: I do genuinely believe that if Drayton didn't vouch so hard for the protag, they probably wouldn't have ever joined the League Club. Think about it.

As soon as Kieran sees them for the first time since the Kitakami drama, he's not immediately itching to battle them again. He's shocked, but then just...doesn't really care about them? Which I assume is because of how strong he's gotten already; it's given him the security he's desperately craved (and ofc is still craving deep down), and it seems like he believes he is truly stronger than the protag at that point. So, why care so much about battling them again?

This is further backed up by how Kieran, based on his remarks as the protag goes through the E4 challenges, that he didn't even believe at first that they would make it through. He's happy to know they haven't gotten weaker, in fact they've gotten stronger. THAT'S what makes him start to care again. He suspects the protag would be a worthy challenge, and they could finally get even as a result. Nothing before then makes Kieran believe that.

So...if it wasn't for Drayton, it's very plausible that the protag wouldn't have joined the club via being voted in. Kieran likely wouldn't have forced them to join. They'd be like a nobody to him. And, there's probably nothing the protag could've done to change his mind on their own at that point. Kieran and them wouldn't have ever battled, Kieran wouldn't have ever lost, and he would've continued rotting on his self-destructive path until who knows what happened.

If you interpret it like this, Drayton is the biggest reason why Kieran even gets the opportunity for redemption when he did. The Drayster's plan ended up working in the end.
