Bones:

It is essential to find animal bones in an ethically sourced manner. Bones have been apart of us and magic itself always. These rigid organs are used in forms of offerings, animism, grounding, cleromancy, and osteomancy.

Charms:

Very dependent on the shape of the charm, many practitioners adorn their magical possessions with charms. (I.e a heart charm in a sachet representing romance.) Cowrie shells were once one of the most common forms of global currency. African traditions use Cowrie Shells for Divinatory purposes since Ancient times. Shells embody fertility, sensuality, wealth, life, and spirit.

Sticks:

Sticks not only embody the Earth, but can be used for Wands, Besoms, Crafts, or in place of bones in Osteomancy. You can use any kind of wood you like including cinnamon and driftwood.

Book of Chaos

Tip for my witchcraft practitioners: Keep a little book of chaos around. It should be small and have blank pages (ideally).

The purpose: Every time you notice synchronicity in the universe, every time you have a stray thought or idea, every time you see something you want to add to your BOS/grimoire, write it down. It will get hectic and be messy but that's the point, it's not some overly special book that you need to keep neat and perfect.

I've found that it aids with making decisions on what should and shouldn't go into my official book and allows for me to quickly jot something down when inspiration strikes me. I am also a chronic doodler and thus love the fact that I can draw anywhere I'd like without trying to make it neat. If you're one for junk journaling or mood board pages this would be a great opportunity try out new things without worrying about making it pretty.

You can also use it to record any omens or signs you see for later interpretation. Sigils or servitors can be made on the fly, and thrive off of the chaos in the book.

And once it's finished and has served it purpose, well the next part is up to you. Burn it, keep it, tear out its pages and add it to spell work, use it as a divination tool if you damn well please.

“Hello, my name is Sharlene Pike and I am a black transgender person originating from South Africa and working as a receptionist/host. I moved to the United States 4 years ago alone and without any support, as my parents died in my home country when I was 18. Being a transgender black female immigrant places three discrimination barriers and makes it extremely hard to socialize and find a job to live properly. Nevertheless, I tried my best. I had been working at 7 different companies as a receptionist/host/waitress for these four years, but 2 months ago I lost my job. The reasoning I was given - ‘staff reduction due to COVID-19 complications’. I have been unemployed for these 2 months, but the reason I can’t start a new job is not COVID-19. In February, I was diagnosed with stage-3 esophageal cancer. I had no prior knowledge of my diagnosis as this type of cancer can be quite concealed, and I had only two or three weeks of eating discomfort before I had a medical consultation. The company I was working at had a special program to support staff members who need expensive surgeries or therapies, and I believe my diagnosis was the true reason I was reduced, since it happened just after I told my office I might need an extended medical leave. The sum I have spent on the medical procedures only to clarify the future treatment equals my 3 salaries. The sum I’m asking for is actually covering first 6 months of treatment and the cheapest drug - basically simply to have a chance to survive. I have no health insurance and I can’t take a new job because my health condition significantly deteriorated. The thing that I have learnt throughout these months is that it is very hard to get any, even basic medical help if you are transgender. The death rate of the esophageal cancer is about 30%, which is very high, and I ask you to help me to have a chance to survive.
