when she says she doesn’t send nudes
“Bad guys don’t deserve to be redeemed” is a boring plot mindset and it’s cancelled forever.
Show me bad guys that think it’s too late to turn their life around, and then turn it around. Show me bad guys that think they’ll never be loved because of the things they’ve done and then give them love and support that makes them feel like it’s worth it to change. Show me bad guys who are bitter, hold grudges, lash out at people, and then make them realize that this Isn’t Working and want more out of their life. Show me bad guys that ask the good guys for help!!
The “villain gets what’s coming to him and is never seen or heard from again” trope is old and played. I want to hear from them again. I want them to ask the good guys to drive them to their first therapy appointment. I want them to struggle through apologies, not because they’re too proud to say “I’m sorry” bc tbh that trope can die too, but because they can’t find the words to make things better and it makes it feel pointless to try.
Make it hard! Make it hurt! Make them question who they are and if change is possible and make them find out that they can be more than the destructive thoughts and behavior they’ve adapted! Make them learn that having bad thoughts doesn’t make you a bad person, and you can choose which thoughts and desires you entertain and act upon. Let the choice to ignore bad thoughts and focus on positive ones become easier over time. And let them feel proud of themselves for it!
Real people struggle with these issues every day and right now the social message is that if you fuck up, you’re scum and you deserve to suffer and you’ll never be more than scum. Real people need to know that you can’t undo the damage of things you’ve done, but you can be better in the future. Real people need to know that you’re not pigeonholed into being a Bad Guy for the rest of your life because you’re a Bad Guy right now.
Nobody “deserves” to be redeemed, it isn’t about “deserving” redemption, it’s about working your ass off not to keep hurting people because you can.
Well, I just wanted some Roger Delgado on my dash. Thank you very much.
And actually, what is even wrong? Like, I thought his last name meant "thin" or something like that?
You know what Good Omens does NOT get enough credit for? How it never, not once, makes gender presentation the butt of a joke.
Crowley presenting as female to be Warlock’s Nanny? The way this was filmed, acted, and written wasn’t made to be funny whatsoever. She was stunning, I loved the hat!
Pollution using they/them pronouns while the postman used the gender neutral honorific of sir for them? What’s there to make fun of? They’re royalty.
Archangel Michael, who has a traditionally male name, played by a female actress? Never questioned.
Lord Beelzebub’s androgyny? Only respect for the Lord of Hell.
Aziraphale sharing Madame Tracy’s body? Crowley recognized his angel and accepted it no problem. He was right about the dress too, it did suit him!
Crowley’s pure, unfiltered non-binary/gender-fluid energy in general? Fucking fabulous. Who could seriously make fun of this demon’s style? As someone once pointed out to me, you could swap him with Tilda Swinton and I’d see no difference. What an icon.
Good Omens is the first big show I’ve seen to basically avoid transphobia all together when the opportunity presented itself, and even say fuck you to the gender binary as a bonus. If the biggest binary in all the universe, Heaven and Hell, don’t give a damn about it then why should you?
I HATE to do that, but I’m truly in need. My hard disk is damaged, and if I don’t go to a professional, I will loose every piece of work I’ve done, every drawing but even every professional work I did or was doing. I will loose pictures too and others importance files, but the most important thing to me is all the work and psd files I’m going to loose.
I’m taking commissions. I can take three 45€ slots this month (equivalent of 2 characters in full colour). It costs more or less 300€ to get back my files ;_;
I really hate to beg for money but I’m really in need. I cannot imagine losing all those years of work and if there is a chance I can save them, I need to take it.
If you can’t commission me, please share this post as much as you can ;_;
Thank you guys 💔🖤💛
One more time, YES, please
What about Aidan Gallagher in the role of the kid!Loki ?
YES
Aidan Gallagher as Kid Loki
It took me a while to find articles and character dialogues that mentioned any kind of passage of time but I was able to complete a definite timeline. Contrary to what others say, the changes of game order in the official timeline for dmc5 fixed contradictions. Thanks to Patty’s birthday and the “Before the Nightmare” novel, now we have concrete ages for the Devil May Cry cast:
Dmc3 Manga- Dante/Vergil are 18 years old. Stated to be 10 yrs since Eva’s death. Vergil meets Arkham. Vergil visits Fortuna city either shortly before or after meeting Arkham & Nero is conceived.
Dmc3 - Dante and Vergil are 19 yrs old. Nero is about a year old.
Dmc1 - Dante is 28 yrs old (stated to be 20 yrs since Eva’s death). Nero is 9 years old.
Dmc Anime- Shortly before dmc2, Patty either 7 or 8 yrs old is introduced
Dmc2 - Takes place 5 years after dmc1. Dante is now 33. Patty is 8 years old. Nero is 14.
Dmc4 - Occurs 5 yrs after dmc2 as stated by Lucia in Before the Nightmare novel. Nero is 19 yrs old, Dante is 38. It matches developers’ statements of Nero being as old as Dante was in Dmc3 and Itsuno mentioning Dante was “almost” 40.
Dmc5- Occurs 5 yrs after dmc4 as mentioned by Nico in Before the Nightmare, Patty is now 18 years old. Dante & Vergil are 42 yrs old, Nero is 24.
Extra: Kyrie is stated to be one year older than Nero in dmc4’s novel. Lady in the other hand is one year younger than Dante and Vergil (gurl you looking good). No age for Trish since its unknown when Mundus created her but she is mentioned to be “very young”.
THIS. THIS IS WHY V IS COOL AND THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH HIM
Still think that was one of the best ways to develop Vergil's character, nice move CAPCOM 😉
Guys i Know you loved V… I loved him too.
But you guys are not understanding what he is. He is not a wasted character… He is Vergil! It’s a side of Vergil that we could never have meet if he haven’t pushed to be separeted with the Yamato.
A side that himself forget. That is why V was mysterious and calm, because this parte of Vergil that was ignored by him, that he never payed to much attention because his life was rough and he did not had reason for it. Putting Everything that V was as something he just wated to get hid of, wich he actually did.
When V and “Urizen” are back together Vergil absorves all the feelings he had suppressed to the point of almost oblivion. Through the eyes of V he sees Dante it still that crazy guy and Nero as a decent person.
That is why he wants to fight Dante fairy, because his proud makes him desire a good fight with his rival/brother. A proud he losted when he created V. And that is why he thanks Nero, because the boy helped him found himself.
Nero helped V… Nero helped Vergil.
During the fight with Dante he says that Nero means nothing to him, but as soon as the battle stops the way his voice sounds unsure when he asks… “Nero’s my son?” Well he looks like he can’t belive unil once again he remembers the past/emotions that he had forgot?supressed even before creating V. Vergil actually stops for a while, and smile… Probabilly it was a happy memory.
The fight with Nero was to see if his son was like him, making the same mistakes, having the same doubts. Vergil lost because at that moment Nero’s motivation was the stronger one and at the same time he was trying to know his son.
For a Warrior like him the best way to know someone was through fight.
In the end Vergil already wannet to cut the stupid tree, and go straigh to the point to work with Dante like if was meant to be. Like it was a every day thing, he protected Nero from following him both punched the boy at the same time without talking, or looking at each other. They just had the conection back at full speed.
This is showed at the moment that he and Dante are being real brothers killing demons. And challenging each other without the intention of killing, only fight because Dante and Vergil like that… And they are seriously good at that. Maybe that’s what Dante always wannet him to see.
The poetry books that he leaves to Nero is like a promise that he will try to go back. Because Nero actually holds the books and he knows that will be a next time for him to see his father.
He is a brother, a father, he is a fucking Warrior.
one of my favorite tropes is when a character is talking in the foreground and something happens in the background that directly contradicts what they’re saying
Friends: How do you choose your ships & OTPs?! It's so hard!
Me: The question is more like "how do I stop"
Seriously, try talking to a non comics reader about the members of the batfamily. They look at you like you’re crazy!
Howard Stark: I have made Tony, my greatest creation.
Jarvis: You fucked up a perfectly good genius is what you did. Look at it, it's got anxiety.
To be quite honest (and adding this to the post I just reblogged) the only thing that sets Nero and Dante (and Sparda) apart from the other demons (and Vergil) is just that they have someone / something they care about.
I mean, look a bit closer:
You have this inhumanly powerful guys, who likely will get shunned by humans usually because they stand out, are different, are scary… who live a much more dangerous life in general because every damn demon is gonna be after them… who live much longer than a human (at least in Sparda’s case)… who lost their family or never had family to begin with…
That gotta break even the most positive and kind person down some day.
Look, I would totally get if those guys just stopped caring about the world at large at some point. Because this “shitshow” called life keeps repeating itself. Because no matter how much you try, the next demon follows up the one you just cut down. Nobody ever thanks you for helping them out. It’s infuriating. It’s exhausting. Because sometimes humans are just as bad as demons, in their hunt for power (and, especially, the power of Sparda).
They don’t want anything to do with it anymore, just give them a break.
You see it in Dante’s attitude back in DMC 3 – that’s not just snarky banter and witty comebacks, he seems downright bitter and pissed a lot of the time. “I don’t have a father, I just really don’t like you.” – “You show your thanks by shooting me? Whatever, do as you please.”
Because at this point in time, Dante’s been alone for years, and there’s nobody he openly cares about anymore. He climbs Temen-ni-gru because some part of him thinks it’s his duty to clean up Sparda’s mess and stop Vergil, but he’s neither enthusiastic nor passionate about it.
There’s only a change in attitude, a hint of care the moment Lady is open with him after their fight and then keeps standing by his side after everything is over.
That later extends to Trish, Lucia and Morrison (and, if they keep her, Patty Lowell). Dante doesn’t fight for humanity as a whole – he does his job, takes out demons (especially those after his father’s power, because he sees that as his duty) and apart from that, will fight for the few people who earned his respect and love.
It’s the same for Nero – orphan, not welcome in the Order at large, likely eyed suspiciously in the whole city because he is a stranger to them – he only cares about Kyrie, whom he loves, and Credo, who was brother and friend to him. Nobody else. He doesn’t show any hint of care for Sanctus getting shot in the head in front of everyone, he only moves to kill the demons attacking people when Kyrie throws herself in front of others…
Basically, the Sparda descendants don’t give a damn about saving the world (despite Dante’s grand speech how you don’t get the opportunity to save the world every day) or humanity at large – they only fight and care for a selected few people. That’s their whole driving force. They are not heroes with a large heart who would sacrifice themselves selflessly at every turn – nope, especially Nero would likely have walked away if he didn’t know the victim of an attack.
Doesn’t mean they are not good people! They are, once you get the honor of being important to them. Then they would do everything for you.
It’s just that they are so used to being alone, being damaged, that it takes a while to even get a place in their heart, you see.
(Not to mention that they are also part demon, which is a race not exactly known for love, care and selflessness. We probably can’t even fully measure them with human standards and morales.)
Not European, but WTH, I'll do everything in my power to stop this nonsense
Soundtrack
I’ve had this idea on the shelf for a year, pretty much since my first days in the fandom. But animating the whole scene properly was always too gargantuan a labor for me to tackle. So instead I made just a few scenes. Your imaginations can hopefully do the rest of the work for me. ;D
Merry Dishonorable Holidays, you beautiful fandom, you! I love you, guys!
This is it, this is the Dishonored Christmas Special! And Dishonored it sure is. Christmas, not so much. XD
P.S. Forgive me, Whaler fans, for I can’t draw their gas masks. XD They look like paper cups. XD
