pt 1 of some much requested cyra lore
Okay okay we all know Johnny cash did his cover of Hurt and we were all like “ok he owns that now” but I watched the music video he made and I’m like “oh he OWNS it owns it”
(Same universe as this, this, this, and this)
Wayne is at the stove.
The skillet sizzling. The air is thick. He’s got the window up and the screen door propped open, and he can hear those boys out there fussing under the hood of Steve’s car.
It’s a good day. One that they needed.
“One of yous boys get in here and set the table,” He calls out. “Supper’s almost ready.”
“Steve’s doing it!”
Heavy footsteps follow and when Wayne looks over, Steve’s tromping into the house fiddling with his hearing aid. He looks at Wayne and gestures at the door behind him, “Unfair advantage.”
He starts moving, washing his hands and grabbing the dishes before adding, “Eddie didn’t like, force me to help. I wanted to.”
“Didn’t think he did.”
“Right.”
“Have a seat when you’re done,” Wayne says and then calls Eddie in to scrub up. He gets an ‘lemme finish’ back and knows it’s a loss cause to do anything else so he goes back in and plates the food.
He sits his plate down, then Eddie’s, and then hands Steve his, but it’s not Steve’s hand that grabs it.
“What are you doing?” Eddie asks, taking the plate. “He can’t eat that. He’s allergic to fish.”
Wayne shoots Steve a betrayed look, “He brought the fish.”
“Technically Hopper gave it to me,” Steve cuts in. When he gets hit with two Munson stares, he adds sheepishly, “It’s a mild allergy.”
Another story of people not knowing Steve is bisexual.
Since he asked Eddie to be his boyfriend at a party game night, Eddie took it as a joke and accepted. He made a grand ordeal of it too, jumping on the table and dramatic gestures.
He even declared his true love shall catch him and fell off the table and fell off into Steve who struggled, but did manage to catch him. If Steve fell on the floor doing it, it’s nobody’s business.
Steve is like “omg my first boyfriend!” And since Robin was there, he assumes she knows.
Little does poor Steve know, everyone thought he was joking. Except El because she’s El and Will.
El and Will are both bewildered as to why the boys weren’t being nosy like they expected them too. But, they don’t figure out that nobody else knows either because everyone else is like “Yea, Steve and Eddie are totally Dating”.
El and Will begin to pester Steve because they love him and he’s the first queer relationship they’ve seen. It’s not like anyone else will tell them anything.
Steve absolutely regales them with every date (which Eddie thought were just hang outs) and what a great choice it was to ask Eddie out.
Steve and Eddie get high together one night and Eddie looks so relaxed and cute that he just has to kiss him.
So he does and, of course since Eddie is his boyfriend, Eddie kisses back. They make out that night and curl up together and then fall asleep.
When Steve wakes up, the bed is empty and cold where Eddie was.
He gets up, assuming Eddie just left to get food, but Eddie is pacing in the kitchen.
“Hey, Teddy, What’s wrong?” Steve tries to get close and hug him, but Eddie shrugs him off.
“I can’t do this with you right now. I need some time to think and I think you should leave. I need a break from you.” Eddie tugs at his hair, not nervous, but stressed.
Steve hears ‘break’ and almost starts crying. He sniffles, eyes getting watery, and Steve just lets out a cracked “okay.” Before grabbing his stuff and bolting out of the house.
By the time he gets in the car, he’s in full out tears.
It’s like Nancy all over again! He just knows that Eddie means to break up with him, nobody goes on a ‘break’ other than to soft launch the ‘break up’.
He thought he was such a good boyfriend to Eddie, he went to all his shows, he brought him home cooked meals, and made sure he knew Steve appreciated him. Steve had started listening to metal for him despite his crushing migraines.
Steve barely makes it home through the warping effect of the tears in his eyes.
He calls out of work for the week to mope because Eddie was his first boyfriend and he really saw a future with him.
On the second day, Will overhears Eddie talking about Steve to Robin and how he “couldn’t be around him.” Will immediately puts together Steve’s absence and sudden ‘flu’.
Will runs back to El and they hop on Will’s bike and go to Steve’s.
When they get there, Steve is still red eyed and teary. His pitiful two month relationship was over and he had been crying over losing Eddie.
Will and El immediately harass him into telling them what happened over some ice cream they extracted from the freezer. Steve tactfully leaves out the weed detail, but otherwise sticks to the story.
El is incredibly mad by the end. Stuff has started levitating half an inch and she questions Steve “why would he do that?”
Steve can’t hold it in anymore and just starts crying again.
“I don’t know.” He croaks out.
Will is patting Steve’s back and El is probably planning a murder.
By the time Steve has calmed down, his phone is ringing and it’s the party looking for El and Will. He offers to drive them back, but the kids insist they bike back.
When El comes in, it is evident she has only gotten more enraged over the entire drive home. The second her eyes fall on Eddie, everything starts shaking angrily.
Eddie on the other hand, does not know El very well and is borderline pissing himself at her rage.
Instead of the flying plates and psychic violence, El starts to cry.
“Why would you do that?” El cries out, tears filling her eyes. She begins to sob and Eddie still has no idea what she’s talking about.
“What do you mean?” Eddie looks halfway between trying to calm her and bolting the other direction.
“Why would you do that to Steve? He really likes you!” Her voice cracks and gets strained at some points, it nearly sounds like nails on a chalkboard.
Eddie is completely not ready to discuss his queer make-out sesh with a child in front of the entire party. Luckily, the Wheeler parents were out and not there to hear it.
“He’s your boyfriend! Why would you break up with him like that?” Eddie lets out a soft understanding laugh.
“El, me and Steve aren’t actually dating, that’s just a joke.” Eddie says soothingly.
“He asked you out in-front of everyone! I was there!” El yelled at Eddie, Will finally beginning to approach his angry sister.
“That was a joke!” Eddie laughs out.
“Did Steve know that?” Will finally pipes up and Eddie’s blood goes cold.
“O-of course, he did!” Eddie feebly attempts to justify. His voice was stringy in a way that showed Eddie didn’t believe himself.
Will just shakes his head at Eddie with sad eyes.
“He thinks you guys have been dating for the past 2 months. El and I thought you were dating for the past two months.” Will says slowly, punctuating his every word carefully.
“That’s why he stopped dating, isn’t it?” Robin pipes up, sounding a little hollow at her failure to notice.
Nobody answers her.
Pt 2 if you ask nicely, or meanly I don’t really care.
Steve, raised since childhood on a strict diet of tax forms, utility bills, and neatly labeled folders, handles Love with capital L the only way he knows how—logistically.
So the moment he realizes things with Eddie are serious-serious, he doesn’t make a big speech or even breathe a word.
He just quietly opens a joint savings account.
Then a trust fund.
Lists himself as Eddie’s emergency contact.
Buys a gold ring (simple, tasteful, suspiciously the right size). He knows Eddie likes silver, but that's not what it's for. Gold is in any case an investment in the future, if something happens.
And—because, well, they’ve survived four apocalypses—he updates his will.
Steve wrote it after Apocalypse #2.
The BMW had been bought with his money and, should anything happen, was legally designated to go to Dustin.
Everything else—his personal savings, the shared funds, and whatever compensation the government might cough up for the next end-of-the-world scenario—was to go to Eddie.
Nobody knows this but Steve. It’s filed in a folder marked “just in case”.
Eddie, on the other hand, doesn’t do paperwork.
When he realizes things are serious, he gives Steve his favorite band t-short. Then changes the tires on Steve’s BMW from summer to winter without being asked. Fixes the bookshelf Steve’s been threatening to burn for a month. And starts making him sandwiches in the morning — the kind his mom used to make for him, with just the right amount of mustard and that one slice of tomato Steve always forgets he likes. Uses his entire vocabulary of cute nicknames on Steve and comes up with a couple of new ones.
Miraculously, it works.
Because Eddie gets this strange, unfamiliar feeling of being safe. And Steve? Steve finally feels understood. And cared for, in a way he didn’t know he needed.
Hopper is trying to enjoy his anniversary dinner with his wife at Enzo’s, in spite the fact that Diane is pissed at him and he doesn’t want to be there, when he suddenly hears, “Mr Hopper.”
Hopper does not roll his eyes when he looks away from his wife’s empty chair to six year old Steve Harrington next to him, “Yes?”
The kid is in a suit. Should Hopper have worn a suit?
“I’m okay, Mr Hopper.”
Well, that got Hopper’s attention. His eyes flicker from the kid to the table with his clearly whisper-arguing parents. Steve certainly looked okay so, “Good?”
“I’m gonna ask Mama if I can get ice cream,” Steve tells him. “If she says no, I’m going to cry real loud ‘til she gives up. I’m not really sad, Mr. Hopper. I’m just really good at crying. Please don’t arrest my dad. He didn’t hurt me.”
Hopper gives him a bewildered look so Steve compromises, “Okay, you can arrest my dad but after I get ice cream.”
Hopper barely manages not to smile at this ridiculous kid when he says, “Are you telling me about a premeditated tantrum?”
Steve thinks about it, “Yes.”
There is a trend I’ve noticed that smut fics tend to be much more popular than anything else and honestly I just want to have something to look at to remind myself and that writing doesn’t have to have sex to be worth putting out into the community.
I’m sure someone has said all of this before, so i’ll just say it again.

This fandom has me writing fanfiction again, something I haven’t done in YEARS and wasn’t planning on doing ever again really.
The goddamn chokehold steddie has on me is literally insane.
Steve and Gareth as Cousins, no longer a warm-up and now called Lifelines, part three! I’ll throw it up on A03 when I finish the fourth part.
Prior parts can be read here: Part One / Part Two
First things first, the most amazing @ sereinpetrichor managed to track down the OG Twitter thread this runaway train is based off of!
It was this thread by @gatorthots, the Tumblr version of which can be read, here. All blame for this idea firmly rests on their brilliant, plot bunny inducing shoulders.
The other, follow up thread I mentioned was this one by Silas, whose tumblr name I do not know.
As always and forever, shout out to the most amazing @chalkysgarbagefire who helps me edit/plot/pats my head while I’m crying in their inbox bc the words aren’t wording right.
Warnings: Steve and Robin are canon (S3) drugged. I took a slightly (kinda sorta) more realistic approach. Vomit mention, canon threat of violence/guns (the Russian guards) Mention of pantsing/past bullying, Steve and Robin’s drugged asses not understanding personal space, Dustin’s canon…Im gonna go with assholishness? but like, I think its more than he’s a young kid and doesn’t quite have the emotional growth/awareness yet in this kind of insane situation to know how to react to the whole address/torture bit (really who does)/its a defense mechanism–and Gareth sort of has a panic attack.
Whatever the hell they had been drugged with, Steve and Robin went from ‘giggly happy fun time’ to 'vomiting into toilet bowls while loudly wishing for death’ awfully fast.
Gareth was not an expert on drugs. He knew Eddie wasn’t either (the guy never dealt anything stronger than your average psychedelic–had some agreement with his Uncle about only selling “the 70s basics”) and repeated looks towards him proved Eddie was still trying to figure out what Steve and Robin were on.
Answers hadn’t exactly been forthcoming–Eddie’s gently made attempts at ferreting out information had only caused more confusion.
Like why the two of them were so freaked out about a gate, or what had made Robin gasp, and then laugh so hard she cried when Steve had made a particularly rough noise then muttered; “Even that sounds better than Tammy Thompson.”
Either way, Gareth was mostly trying to figure out what the hell they were going to do, because sobering up in a busy, public mall wasn’t exactly the best idea.
“I regret,” Robin tried to say, in-between gagging. “I regret–hrk–"
"Me too.” Steve moaned, head resting against the stall wall. Gareth, still caught up in panic, had been permanently regulated to door guard while Eddie alternated between sweet talking, rubbing backs and offering quietly whispered advice.
“Let’s go back in time and ignore the whole silver cat thing.” Robin continued, slumping back down onto the floor.
“Wouldn’t have mattered.” Steve muttered. “Dustin would have figured it out without us. Kid’s too damn smart."
"So?” Robin grumbled, quietly thanking Eddie as he once again brushed her hair out of her face.
“So he would have gone down there anyway, which means I’d be down there anyway.” Steve concluded. “We shouldn’t have gotten you involved though."
He shakily pushed himself up, staggering to his feet and looking like bambi on ice while doing it.
Eddie quickly came round to offer his help, hands spread as Steve groaned out a curse and clutched his head.
The older took a step forward right as Steve lurched back, unbalanced and shaky.
"Oh shit.” He said, eyes wide as he crashed backwards into Eddie, the latter catching him with a grunt.
Despite the entire situation, Gareth found himself stifling a laugh as Eddie wrapped his noodle arms around Steve’s chest, trying to hold the other up without falling himself.
“Come on big boy, why don’t we just siiiit back down.” Eddie said, slightly breathless as he helped guide Steve back to the floor. “There we go…”

Robin fully thinks that Dustin is a dog that was sent to obedience school and not a human child that went to summer camp because Steve talks about him like:
Steve, sighing wistfully: I just miss the little guy, you know?
Robin: ?
Steve, right after servicing ice cream to a guy: That’s my mailman. Dustin fuckin’ hates that guy. Goes crazy when he sees him.
Steve: *does not elaborate on Dustin’s long standing feud with the postal service*
Steve: My parents are actually kinda happy that’s he’s gone. They think he’s loud.
Robin, thinking of her neighbor’s dog: Yeah, they’re like that.
Steve: And the jumping, they hate that.
Steve: - bunch of chocolate. Got an upset stomach and threw up.
Robin: They can’t have chocolate.
Steve: Yeah, I know. He’ll throw up!
Steve: Dustin’s coming back next week. I think I’m going to get him a welcome back gift. Got any ideas?
Robin: Something that squeaks?
Boy, walking up to the counter: Hi
Robin: Hi
Boy: I’m Dustin
Robin, internally: *no one can ever know any of my thoughts ever*
