the girls with guts. these girls have so much drive and ambition, plowing their way through a male-dominated field with intensity and success that can only be dreamed about. pencils tucked behind their ears, calculators stuffed in their pockets, notes scribbled haphazardly in countless notebooks, they take on the world. some of these girls love science, love to learn about the changes of the tide or the environment or how to mix different chemicals. some love math, love how everything always lines up so perfectly, love the exhilaration of finally figuring out a difficult equation. no matter what their passions are specifically, these girls are the next generation of geniuses.
Hi! I found your studyblr a few nights ago, and I was reading through your posts. I saw that you mentioned something about a summer program in astrophysics. Do you mean the summer science program in astrophysics? :)
nope, it’s a program run by a scottish university!
(also i’m sorry this is late, i never check my inbox)

chem test number 2 tomorrow !
27th march 2020
was being all productive rewriting my higher physics notes (seeing as i’ve no set work until after easter -_-), but then i got onto fission and started raging about how undercredited lise meitner is, so now i’m in a state of feminist rage about the severe lack of women in stem and particularly physics. happy friday!
Hi all, it’s werelivingarts. I just stumbled across this method called ‘eat the frog’, which means you get the most difficult or important task out of your way first. I actually have been using this method for a long time, hope this post gives you a new way of managing your time and productivity! 😜 ❤️
“If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.” – Mark Twain

modern studies revision in the library with some pals before a violin lesson 🎻🎻
in other news my first official exam is tomorrow !! holy shit !!
april 26 2019,
some simple spreads for the next few weeks of exams, only 7 to go now! i did music yesterday and it went well i think (you know it’s a good paper when mamma mia is in one of the questions). i also saw endgame yesterday and oh. my. god. it’s so incredible please go watch it (also dm me if you have i need to scream about it) :)
(seeing as there are v few scottish studyblrs and highers are bloody difficult!)
(for non-scots, highers are exams we do in between gcse and a-level equivalents)
understand, don’t memorise. this applies to basically every class- if you understand why you do a certain method to solve a problem/ conjugate a verb/ analyse a poem then you can do it in every scenario
prepare to get stuff wrong. there is a significant difference between national 5s and highers, and most people i know took a confidence bump at the start of the year because of the sheer quantity of work. it’s okay!! it’s all learning and all learning is good
work with the right people. i sat with my friends in maths and desperately wish i hadn’t because i worked way better with people who actually challenged me to work hard! find people who are a similar level to you and work together
past papers. there are dozens of past papers online, far more than national 5s. watch out for content that isn’t in courses anymore! dunblane high school’s website has a great collection of past papers that i used loads
have time off. the workload in s5 is crazy so you need to balance your time. use any study periods to finish work and give yourself relax time in the evenings and at the weekends as much as you can
prelims are important but make sure you don’t burn out. as soon as you finish prelims you’ll likely start learning the next part of the course, and i know from experience that it is horrible to do when you’re completely exhausted after prelims. schedule days off into your prelim leave when you can!
i hope that helped somebody because s5 was a really difficult year for me and i wish i had known some of this at the start! if anybody happens to want tips on a particular subject, i got As in maths, physics, chem, french and english and would be more than happy to tell you what was helpful for me!! <3
what kind of laptop do u have??? ive been looking into getting a new one and i noticed urs is lenovo👀👀
i have a lenovo yoga 300! i’ve had it for ~3 or 4 years and it still runs really well, plus it flips 360° round which is so so useful!
