Alright, I think I like tumblr now.
A pun post crossed my dash, and I reblogged it with an equally bad pun in return. A couple of my followers find it funny, it's a good day for everyone.
That was on July 7th.
Virality on Reddit was entirely algorithmic. You could garner a couple crossposts, but the success of a post was entirely dependent on whether or not it hit r/all--the main page of Reddit. If your post does that, it's immediately exposed to 10x the number of people and immediately gets upvoted.
On my pun post, I get a couple reblogs. And those reblogs get a couple reblogs--nobody really adds any content to the post, it just gets a couple reblogs here and there.
There's a specific chain of reblogs that I'd like to focus on. The most popular post on this chain has about 25 reblogs on it. Half the posts have three reblogs or fewer. Five posts in this chain have just one reblog total.
But the reblog chain keeps going. And going. It breaches containment many times over. And finally, after a chain THIRTY SIX posts long, at 9:30 AM, July 22nd this morning, it hits a popular account.
99% percent of the people who have seen the post--virtually unchanged from how it left my dash--have seen it because it was curated by 36 different people. That's insane to me.
None of those 36 people know that they're part of this chain. They saw a post, reblogged it, and moved on. If any one of these people had not reblogged, the post would have a fraction of the impact it has.
And yet, after two weeks, the post has effectively hit the main page of tumblr. It was picked up, only because people liked it enough to show it to their followers. There were no algorithms necessary.
You really, truly, cannot get this on any other website.

As a Konoha employee I can say it’s more than just a job, it’s a lifestyle. One we were born into and groomed from childhood to respect the state and the state only. The culture of Konoha is comfortable, fun, and all I know. I am paid two dollars above minimum wage. I’m proud to say that Konoha is my ninja way!!
I don’t even fucking like tomatoes. When was the last time you ever saw me eating a tomato? It’s a fucking vegetable. Or a fruit. Why would I want to eat something that can’t even make up it’s mind
it's always sunny in the dungeon
something that drives me insane on a relatively regular basis as a body jewelry understander is talking to people who have sensitive skin who are like "oh well I just can't wear any earrings without my ears getting inflamed" and I say "well what have you tried" and they say "well I've tried sterling silver and I've tried gold..." and it's like. ok. I don't know how gold and sterling somehow got spun by the jewelry industry as being especially good for sensitive skin but whenever I'm like "well have you tried implant grade titanium" they're always like "no....... but I've tried sterling silver... and it didn't work ..." like. I don't know how this narrative about sterling silver somehow got so strong but when they put pins in your fucking legs when you snap your leg in half are those pins made of sterling silver or are they made of implant grade titanium or surgical steel????????? HELLO. HI. YOU MIGHT BENEFIT FROM TRYING IMPLANT GRADE TITANIUM I AM JUST SAYING
Y'all are amazing. Reblog to hug the person you’re reblogging from.
Have you missed watching cartoons that didn't just feel like it was only for kids? Longing to watch another action-packed story about nervous highschoolers with people pleasing tendencies falling in love, demons and family? What about one with a banger opening, kids setting towns on fire and creative monster designs?
Look no further than JENTRY CHAU VS THE UNDERWORLD!
Alot of cartoons feel like they're going to be inevitably cancelled, which has discouraged alot of viewers from watching them and given executives more reasons to can them. Netflix has done ZERO marketing for this and most of the marketing I have seen has been from the staff of the show, which is absolutely ridiculous. Though we may be bitter (trust me, I understand), it's worth atleast giving it a shot to try and tell them that we want more shows like this.
If you're craving good young-adult supernatural shows, stories with POC and female leading casts that aren't about discrimination or just want more animation aimed for audiences beyond children, PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE go check this show out and spread the word. It's 13 episodes that are half an hour long, and every one is packed with love!
