A common misconception is that the rising sign rules physical appearance, when in fact it is ruled by the dominant planet.
A planet becomes dominant in the natal chart when it is posited in a sign of its rulership, when it is posited near an angle on the natal chart, when it rules the Sun or Ascendant, or when it forms numerous aspects in the natal chart. To find your dominant planet, go here.
SUN

MOON

MERCURY
Slender and tall, wide/tall forehead, pointed chin; long nose and fingers, sly smile, glinting, striking eyes; prone to breakouts, dark, thin hair.
VENUS
Body in proportion, no matter what height, gains weight evenly. Heart-shaped face, high cheekbones; large eyes, dark, shiny hair.

SATURN

I hope that life treats you well, and when it doesn’t, I hope that you treat yourself well.

The First Quadrant: Houses 1-3. The first three houses of the birth chart represent your understanding, and awareness, of yourself. They lay down the foundation for your life journey.
The First House: “This is Who I Am.”
The First House, which marks our Rising, or Ascendant, arouses our cognizance of the self. The idea that we are a unique being with our own skills and talents, though probably not developed yet, becomes solid. Here, we do not acknowlege others, let alone consider what characteristics they have. We are wholly our own.
The Second House: “This is Who I Am and Why I Matter.”
The Second House broadens our awareness ever so slightly. We finally begin to see beyond ourselves, to the things (not yet the people) around us. We decide that we can give worth to the “self” by staking claim to what is “ours.” Our priority shifts from self-definition, though still salient, to self-preservation.
The Third House: “This Is Who I Am to My Surroundings.”
The Third House helps us make the transition from “self-centered” to “self-assertive.” We are not yet ready to understand others, but we begin to acknowledge a relationship. Somehow, we find that we can co-exist with things that are not of ourselves or owned by ourselves.
●Stelliums or heavy placements in the First Quadrant : If there is an overriding amount of planets in the first quadrant, the chart holder may experience identity issues. They may spend and overwhelming amount of time seeking personal validation.
●Low planetary activity in the First Quadrant: This may lead to an individual feeling lost in their purpose. Self-consciousness and inferiorities may surface regularly.
Planets that will have a positive effect in the First Quadrant:
•The Sun- Leads to a strong sense of self
•Mercury - Lends strong verbal skills, an ability to express oneself.
•Venus- Adds beauty.
