Apparently Grace Kelly used to call Stephanie her wild child or “enfant terrible”

So I just found out that one of Grace Kelly´s daughters is named Stephanie… Coincidence? After all Skulduggery is weirdly obsessed with Grace Kelly.

Imagine a Skulduggery Pleasant AU where everyone is Australian:

Everyone swears 120% more than in canon.

The perpetually changing Grand Mages fits with what's been happening in mortal Australia.

Anton has a shack in the bush instead of the hotel, he grows a beard and fits in perfectly.

Saracen is a hipster.

Skulduggery was a bush ranger back in the day.

Valkyrie's school is so much more feral and out of control. There's a reason she's so quick to become Skulduggery's partner - she just wants to escape.

They all have different Australian accents.

Children of the Spider makes more sense considering ...

Valkyrie has to say "that's dog" at least once. Lots of Australian slang should be included.

Larrikin tried to ride a kangaroo and succeeded (nobody can ride a kangaroo).

Much more wildlife and dangerous animals that nobody really cares about.

re-reading (well– listening, technically) has made me realise how SAD the plotline with the twins and beryl + fergus is ):

when i first read it, i just saw them all as comic relief and the death didnt hit me that hard, but now?? its honestly heartbreaking,, having seen the massive character development of the twins and then seeing the effect that carol’s death had on the rest of the family even though they didn’t know what had really happened etc etc is rlly sad

I like to imagine two things: 

- Dexter grabbed Valkyrie and danced with her when she was so overly bored on their long walk in book #8 to cheer her up and it totally worked even though she tried half-heartedly to free herself and NOT to laugh 

- the Dead Men spending a day at the beach which would be the biggest disaster including Dexter chasing a screeching Saracen into the water and Valkyrie building a sandcastle with Ghastly i’m needy of fluff and harmony please

i see so many posts interpreting nat’s ‘are you incapable of letting go of your ego for one goddamn second?’ line as a defensive dig at an undeserving tony and i just need to say something about this line (as someone who loves both nat and tony!)

if you don’t think tony’s ego is a bit contributor to cacw, you’re looking at the definition of ego too narrowly. in the strictest sense, tony’s cacw isn’t about his personal moral values about oversight - he’s not thinking about himself in terms of winning an argument or anything.

however, that in no way means his ego isn’t involved.

Missing the old Dexter

A/N: This is completely self-indulgent, since my Dexter Vex feels were at a peak. This is set during SOW, but there are no spoilers involved. Valkyrie and Tanith miss the old Dexter and Skulduggery knows how to get to him.

„I’m worried about him.“ 

Tanith looked up from cleaning her sword and sent Valkyrie a clueless look. „I’m worried about all of us.“ Meaningfully she motioned at the all surrounding death threats of the Leibniz Universe. „But do specify.“

Valkyrie put her head up on her hands and sighed. „Dexter. He is … not himself.“

Taniths’ shoulders slumped down a little. It was true, she had noticed it herself. But what was there to do about it? He was marked by all the things that have happened to him. He didn’t take life as lightly as he used to. He wasn’t an adventurer anymore, but a man who had seen too much, had endured too much, had lost too much. He was slowly but securely turning into Skulduggery. There was still a spark inside of him that reminded her of the old Dexter - a friendly wink, a sudden uncontrollable laugh, an instinctively done dance move during a fight. But a lot was missing. So much of him wasn’t there. And the sparks didn’t last long. They vanished, making space for the grim, scarred, silent Dexter whose beard had replaced his smile.

„Do you think there is anything we can do to…“ Valkyrie stopped mid-sentence, sighing like any attempt of restoring the old Dexter was hopeless from the start. Her sad face combined with the sad surroundings and the sad situation made Tanith wish for a medicine strong enough to cure her friends traumas alltogether. All of them wiped away, making space for happy memories and happy new experiences. 

Skulduggery started getting up from where he had been meditating close-by and put on his hat. He stayed standing there, seemingly checking if Saracen and Dexter were returning from their hunt. Gently and surprisingly moved he said: „I can help.“
