some things i wanted to point out about the last line:

1. wilardo says "they" instead of "we" because despite his words, enacting this kind of cruelty would make him believe that he's a monster. him killing ashe quick after that is one last display of his remaining humanity- death as a mercy, death as a kindness.

2. it's also kind of supposed to be a double meaning. he's calling ashe cruel but he's also acknowledging "there must've been something in your life to make you like this, and i'm sorry it couldn't have ended up differently"
