I like invertebrates because they have no bones :]
so just to explain it, searx is not a search engine itself— it's a frontend for a group of search engines, so it's still searching with wikipedia, google, duckduckgo, bing, ecosia, etc. it's really easy to choose the group of engines or sites you want to use in the settings, plus you're avoiding a lot of data tracking, ads, and there is no AI on top.
there's no company behind it, it's self-hosted so you're either running your own instance or using someone else's. i do recommend eventually running your own, because the more users on one instance means higher traffic which may cause it to eventually get blocked by google and stuff.
searx.space has list of running publicly available instances, some of them are already fine-tuned for academic purposes and there are currently 76 at the time i'm posting this!
wikipedia no longer being anywhere near the top of search results when looking up anything feels eviscerating
Party time! (Monty wasn’t invited)
Frozen beach with glowing coconuts. Yum! ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝🌴❄️
Afternoon nap!
I don't know why, but Wally is stupidly difficult for me to draw, but I loved how he turned out here. I'm leaning!! :D
Got the insertion for this while looking at some of clown's doodles and seeing Barnaby sleeping and I just had to draw THEM. Love the best buddies!
I need every single person to understand how horrible tumblr’s tagging system is
I go into the tag for epilepsy and its all flashing lights. We can’t use our own tag because people without epilepsy fill it up with improper warnings.
Use ‘flashing’ in place of ‘epilepsy’ in your tags. You aren’t warning people of epileptics, you’re warning us of flashing lights. Please please tag properly. Epileptics say this endlessly and constantly and it’s ignored. You are risking lives by doing this.
Here’s proof of what I mean:
Sun's purposely not telling him how to tie his shoes.
