It has been a few weeks since the strange encounter with the mermaid and captain Price hasn't stopped thinking about her since then. Her beautiful tail, who had shine in that moonlight, the cutesy way she spoke... He wasn't being able to get her out of his mind.

A few months passed. He had lost hopes to find the mermaid again, she was probably too scared to get out of her place again, he tried staying up as long as he could but he was always dragged to bed by his sailors after 2 am...

Price had a mission today, catch some fish. He prepared everything and got on his boat, he wasn't planning on getting some big catch, just some small fishes that he could eat in 2 or 3 days.

He was in a safe distance from land but still a few far into the ocean, the sea was calm and he didn't had any worries...

While waiting for some fish to take the bait, he starts appreciating the landscape... Which was just the sun and water, but it was still beautiful.

After a few moments, he starts noticing a strange movement on the water, it was getting closer and closer and closer... He grabs his gun and points at it but when he sees the familiar color of the mermaid's tail, he immediately puts it back down.

"Y/N?! Is that you?!" He shouts, looking at the water for any sight of you until you emerged from the water, looking at him with curiosity.

He sighs in relief, "I thought you were dead." He says and sits back on the boat, "What brings you here?" He asks, grabbing a cigarette from his backpack and lightening it up.

"Cat is a domestic animal, a feline. You know what a pet is?" He added, looking at you and taking a puff of the cig. You nods, you've read about dogs before in your books but never cats.

"Well cats are... Like little lions, tigers. They hunt rats, cockroaches, uh... You don't know what any of these are, right?" He explained and then asked and sighed when you nod. He took off his phone from his backpack and showed you a picture of a cat, "that's my cat, his name is Whiskers, my daughter begged for a cat after she went to her friend's house, she takes care of him and such." He spoke, smiling.

Your eyes sparkles, that thing was cute! The cat's orange fur mixed with white was adorable, his big dark eyes and pointy ears were like nothing you saw before. Price chuckles, seeing how amazed you looked, you try reaching for the phone but he flinches, "Nuh uh. You're gonna get it wet." He puts his phone back on the backpack, you looks up at him confused and he smiles, "Don't give me that look... Hey, can you get on the boat?" He asks and gives him hand for you to grab. You grab his hand and he lifts you up like if it was nothing and puts you on the boat, that's when he gets a good look on your body.

Your tail was beautiful, shining in the sunshine, the jointed fingers and the fact you didn't had a belly button, it was weird but fascinating, you were so pretty, the wet hair and how the sun shines in your skin was mesmerizing.

"Oh god, you're so beautiful." "Mine... Dad sells... Hm..." You starts but forgets the word for 'crab' and 'shrips', so you starts mimicking the movements of a crab, which makes Price starts laughing heartily, finding it funny and cute.

"Crab? It's that what you're trying to say?" He calms down a bit and asks and but nods.

"Yes... Crap!" He then laughs again, making you confused. "Crap...funny? Haha... Haha!" That just makes him laugh more at your attempt to laugh with him but clearly confused.

He takes a deep breath, "No, no. Crab, crap is what you say when something goes wrong, you know?" He says after calming down a bit, smiling.

It was getting late and he had to go back to the beach, where the base was so he ruffles your wet hair, "I have to go, it's getting late and you should go too, it might be dangerous, the sea is full of surprises." He says. You smiles, your sharp fangs surprising him, "bye...bye!" You say before jumping on the water, swimming away on the big ocean.

He sighs happily and starts paddling back to base, he caught a good amount of fish and found the mermaid he was looking for, what a day...

John Price was a successful sailor, always had the best fishes and had a big boat in the best conditions, he lived near the sea in a house made of wood, a cozy place near where his boat was embarked.

Price was counting the money he had made that week with the fish sellings while smoking a cigar when he hears a melody coming from outside his house. It was hypnotizing, probably the best melody he had heard in a while but he's also in alert, who would be singing near his house late at night? He goes outside, a pistol on his hand for protection.

He sees a figure sitting on a rock, brushing it's hair with it's fingers while singing. He gets closer and notices... It had no legs, was he going crazy? Was the age finally hitting?

Whoever it was, notices Price staring, shocked and, at the same time, amazed and...it jumps into the water. Price, getting out of the trance, rushes to the ocean.

"Oi! You are going to drown!" He says, the water was from the ocean at that time of night it was cold and the tide was choppy. He runs into the water but...he doesn't see anyone, he looks around, left and right but...it disappeared?

But, when Price less expected, a head sticks out of the water, looking at him, curious but at the same time a bit scared. He sighs in relief but he frowns slightly.

"Who're you and what are you doing here?!" He says, accusingly, pointing at the person at the water.

"..." You doesn't answer, scared and not quite understanding what he is saying but at the same time curious.

Price gets even angrier. "Who. Are. You?!" He says, practically yelling. You flinches.

"Y/N! My name Y/N!" You says. You understood the basic English but didn't know how to speak clearly.

Price's expression softens and he takes a deep breath. "Do you speak English?" You nods a bit shyly, knowing it's not fully true. "Good... What are you?" He asks, frowning again, "You don't seems human." He crosses his arms.

He gets closer and stretches his hand, wanting to help whatever you were to get out of the water, you flinches slightly and his expression softens. "I'm not going to hurt you, I mean no harm." He says with a softer tone.

Hesitantly, you take his hand and he drags you closer, making half of your body sticks out of the water. That's when he notices, your fingers webbed, the web having a soft slightly transparent blue color, your nose and cheeks that had a blue blush and most importantly, the conchs and algae as straps that covered your breasts. You certainly weren't human.

"What are you?" He asks again, more to himself than to you. You frowns slightly and says 'what' in your mermaid language, making him answer to that with another "What?"

"You're a mermaid, so how do you know English? How are you understanding me?" Price asks, confused and amused. "Me English... drowned library!" You says, trying your best to explain the situation.

You had discovered a drowned library from a ancient english civilization while exploring the ocean, it was full of books and you studied English by the books but, of course, you weren't fluent.

"You learned English by a drowned library?" He chuckles softly, you nods, smiling slightly. It was hard to see each other's face because of the lack of light in the night but he could tell you were smiling so he smiles too.

"I've never seem a mermaid before, is there more of mermaids like you in the ocean?" He asks, kneeling down to be at your level, letting go of your arm, not caring if his clothes get wet. You nods. "Where are you from, mermaid?" He asks with a softer tone, looking at you. "Hydralis! Uh...Hydralis is...between Pavlopetri and Sublima!" You says, your broken english and thick mermaid accent making him chuckle., finding it cute how you tries to explain to him. "Oh yeah, my name is John Price by the way, I'm from England." He notices your eyes sparkling a bit and you get closer, a bigger smile on your face. "England? Me have uh... Read about England!! In history.. books! Y-you like tea?" You asks, making a little pauses betweens words to remember how to speak English.

Price giggles heartly, finding you expression and question adorable, a mermaid interest in England? How cute. "Yeah, i love tea, do you like tea?" He asks quite sarcastically, being fully aware she couldn't drink tea in the ocean, you shakes your head, not understanding the sarcasm and that he was just joking. He chuckles, finding your unaware of his human's sarcasm quite charming. "Can i see your tail?" He asks, raising an eyebrow. You nods and swims to the rock and sits on it, giving him a good look of your tail.

It is a beautiful light blue with some white scales, it has a natural sparkle on it, making it glow on the night, he also gets a better look on your skin. It was (your skin color) with the extremities colored with a blue color. Your elbows, ears, shoulders being blue. Your hair was a beautiful (your hair color) that had waves on it, like the ocean, your (eyes color) eyes captivating and your slightly blue lips also catching his attention. You were a beautiful thing to be seem, for sure.

Before he could say something, a voice is heard.

"Captain! JOHN!" It was one of his crewmates. You, scared, jumps into the water and swims away. "Hey! No, don't go!" Price tries to stop you but you had disappeared in the great ocean.

His crewmate finally finds him. "Captain! There is a bunch of rats eating our stock of food and our cats aren't doing anything! Help us!!" He yells. Price sighs in frustration. "I'm coming!" He says and the guy nods, walking back to the storage, to try to stop the rats. Price takes a last look at the ocean before rushing to the storage.

Maybe, another day, he would see you again...
