Definitely okay! Yes, characters should obviously still have flaws but 1: The things mentioned don't really contribute to the story or teach a lesson, 2: The characters mentioned will still be themselves and not a hollowed out version of themselves, one strange flaw like that does not change their personality or really how we view them, and 3, probably most importantly: It's your own work of fanfiction! You have the right to change characters as you please, even if it could be seen as a downgrade, or watering them down, or even just making them too good compared to their original. That's what fanfictions are for; doing what you want to do.

Danganronpa community I would like your input!!

Is it a bad thing to redesign / rewrite these characters to be potentially less egregious (e.g., writing Kiyo’s sister as a hallucination rather than a split considering it wasn’t handled well, or making Teruteru NOT dr!g people, making Hifumi NOT a l0l1con)? I have thoughts about all this but I don’t know if it would be considered rude or “watering things down”.
