hiii I am here to point out/analyze (??) a scene from Skybound that I haven’t seen anyone mention before.. (if this has already been talked about I would like to see the post about it ^-^) also, apologies in advance if tumblr kills the quality of my pics..

this screenshot. I’m sure you’ve seen it before, I’m sure you recognize the episode/scene it comes from (s6 episode 6: "My Dinner With Nadakhan"). but have you ever noticed the way Nadakhan is touching Jay?! did you ever notice that he’s grabbing Jay’s waist..?

the fact that Nadakhan (after seizing Jay’s wrist) went for Jay’s WAIST next is concerning to me. it was such an immediate reaction, no hesitation whatsoever. he just grabbed him. Nadakhan always vandalizes ANY CHARACTER’S personal space, but this grab felt so violent. and the way that Jay has almost no reaction to it..? that’s also deeply concerning..

now I know you might be asking- "is that even Jay’s waist?". I know, I know. it LOOKS like his hand is pretty high, but remember that Jay is also sitting down. I have more pictures to prove that this is, in fact, Jay’s waist.

and the thing that makes this whole scene even more terrifying is THIS:

the way that Nadakhan smiles when Jay finally gives up is sickening.. and again, it’s so sad that Jay just.. accepts it. and Nadakhan caressing Jay’s hair.. which we’ve seen him do MORE THAN ONCE- not to mention the one time Nadakhan pulls Jay by his hair to lift his face off the ground.

(I couldn’t find a picture of the exact scene, but this is another time Nadakhan is being weird with his fucking hook hand…! ew..!)

Wildbrain era fr ruined Jay so much the fandom just completely forgot what his character was about I'm crying 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭(I opened twitter and saw the polls today 💔)

most of the time jay being mischaracterized is because people for some reason use the 11 minute era as like the complete basis of his entire character… i'm so glad DR exists because otherwise the last thing we'd get of his character with crystallized would be jay giving a peace speech, THAT fucking ramen song and a pee joke because he literally does nothing else in what would have been the final season of the original show

I remembered that one scene from skybound and decided to draw it bc I found it funny. might color this later but it’s almost 4 am so 🤪🤪🤪

FINALLY!! I finished watching dragons rising s3 (part 1)!! (spoiler-free kind of review I guess)

I don’t feel like making a whole essay about it like I did with s2 (which if you haven’t read that.. pls go read it here), at least not yet. I also wanna make it clear that I will not be watching any of the leaked episodes from part 2. I know it’s a pretty long wait, but I am going to be waiting for them to come on Netflix in September. I’ll be censoring the ninjago spoilers tag onceee again!

but hey, now that I finished s3 part 1.. I CAN DRAW SO MUCH STUFF OF IT !! gonna be doodling Jay with his fuckass ponytail for DAYS.

overall, I liked s3 part 1 a little less than s2, but I don’t think it’s fair to judge this season completely when I haven’t even watched part 2. but for part 1? I give it a 7/10. might change my opinion on that later but that’s just how I feel rn.

Zane and Cole (identities au) in a nutshell

jay doodles, DRs3p1 art coming (probably) soon. i'm just hesitant to draw that fuckass ponytail.

Headcan in the all of the Ninja can do something weirdly inhuman.

This all started when I was thinking about The opening scene in Tick Tock (season 1 episode 7, Don't ask why I know it by heart It's my favorite episode I'm 17 and I still get hype when watching it) where Zane was testing his capabilities to hold his breath underwater to an unhuman degree (cuz robot)

But like what if before That scene (It is implied that they do test things like this in said scene So I am running with it) Kai points out how inhuman it is that Zane can hold his breath for so long. And Zane understandably, subconscious about it which fires off a whole series of the Ninja explaining how they're inhuman in this sense.

Cool claims that there's nothing really inhuman about him to which Kai interjects that he can effortlessly pick up the refrigerator in one arm and the couch and the other as he had done so the week before to which Cole tries to defend himself by saying Zane needed help cleaning under the surfaces cut two all three Ninja giving Cole a deadpan look.

Jay talks about how he can be electrocuted roughly a thousand times during his little tinker sections and not feel a thing until someone (mainly Nya) points out that he's actively being electrocuted. Of which Kai makes fun of him for. Jay gets embarrassed and asks Kai what his inhuman trait is.

And suddenly Kai is really embarrassed And he makes the others swear that they won't judge him or make fun of him for it with an odd kind of severity rarely seen from Kai they all give their their is agreements and they stand there in an awkward silence for all of 15 seconds before Kai clears his throat and lets out the most inhuman growl. Like something that isn't even physically possible from a human's throat of which Zane points out and Kai just kind of shrugs looking really subconscious about it explaining that he's always been able to do it and Nya can do something similar but oddly only underwater.

Anyway I just wanted to rant about a headcanon I came up with which is literally just “What if Kai and Nya can growl/roar like dragons (fire dragon and water dragon/serpent respectively)”

they’re the brothers ever 💚❤️ oh, wow. who knew my art had improved this much?! who knew it was so bad in 2023? 😭 kinda embarrassed of even posting this, but I’m REALLY PROUD of my improvement so it’s okay.. (but SERIOUSLY.. why does Kai’s arm in the original look like he has two elbows..?? that’s not how arms work HELP!)

I’m just kinda baffled at my own progression. back in 2023, I never would've thought i’d be this good. I would’ve never thought that there’d be a time where I was always genuinely happy with how my art style looked, and how all my drawings came out. if you told my past self that I could draw humans successfully (most of the time), and was confident enough to even start posting stuff… I probably would not have believed you! lol! anyways, I’m super happy with this one. even though it took a while to just painstakingly get every single little detail right, I’m glad I did! because it looks SO good!!

rewatching ninjago recently has been such a weird experience because why does kai actually have a crush on jay or something like hes obsessed with him. they reuse the same joke of kai going "well if jay can do it then so can i" or "HUH??? jay of all people?!??" or "it should be someone expendable....... like jay"or "who would ever want jay?" "jay jay jay jay jay" but it just comes off like hes constantly thinking about him for no reason. that combined with other small things too

Which is Your Fav?? Omg, I finally finished this!! Look at the all sssSerpentinesss✨🐍 Acidicus’s lil horny thingies gave me hell, but i think he turned out pretty sick💚And Selma was very fun to Experiment with, she looks so beautiful💕 I’m genuinely Surprised Jay turned out so good! I love to draw sneks/Cats but i don’t draw humans lol, but this is pretty good cuz I have an excuse for him to look like a snake!!

Just finished dragons rising s2!! even though I’ve already seen some spoilers for s3p1, IM STILL SO EXCITED TO WATCH IT !!!!!! more of my hyped thoughts abt s2 are below (WARNING: spoilers for Dr s2! just incase some ppl haven’t watched it yet. oh, and a yap warning.. bc yeah.. I talk a lot. help.)

pros/everything I loved - the overall plot of this season, continuing from where we were in s1, is absolutely AMAZING! the stakes get higher with each episode, creating such an epic buildup that pays off wonderfully in the finale, but still leaves you with questions about what will happen next. the pacing is GREAT. I loved this season EVEN MORE THAN DR S1! if I’m being honest, I think that dr s2 is one of my favorite Ninjago seasons, like ever. s2 and s5 will always be personal favorites of mine, but in terms of writing and story, and even animation (bc the freaking shading is BEAUTIFUL), dr s2 takes the cake for me. from Lloyd’s arc of getting over and adapting to his visions, the mystery during the tournament, to Arin’s well written and ultimate betrayal— this season is seriously outstanding in nearly every single aspect. all of the characters (even if some didn’t get as much screen time as others), are written extremely well and are very interesting and entertaining to watch. every character has so much thought put into their writing, and that makes them so much more emotional and easy to get attached to. for example; despite Arin’s betrayal and ignorance towards Sora, the writing does not make you hate him— rather, feel bad for him, and understand where he’s coming from, which is what makes his character in this season so interesting. and what makes his writing even better, is that this arc for him, was being built up since season 1. making Arin’s betrayal a slow burn affect is 100%, the BEST way they could’ve wrote this route for his character. I also want to talk about Lloyd, because undoubtedly, I find him and Arin’s character writing to be the best out of any of the characters this season. obviously, Sora, Nya, Wyldfyre and Kai all get their important and emotional moments/arcs as well, but I just felt that Lloyd and Arin really stuck out to me in terms of writing. I love Lloyd’s arc of having visions, eventually getting over them, and then having them come back to haunt him during the last few rounds of the tournament; it was just really enthralling to watch how he dealt with it. Nya’s reaction to learning that Jay had lost his memories was so heartbreaking to watch :( I like that Nya was telling Kai about it during the end of the finale, that was a nice touch. speaking of Kai, holy shit? he’s the goat?? he was trapped in the nether-space for idek how long, and the MOMENT he gets out he just starts BEATING THE EVER LOVING SHIT OUT OF NOKT! I kid you not, I replayed that scene about 15 times. like oh? my gawd? the line: “don’t you DARE touch her! ..that’s my sister.” DID NOT HAVE TO GO SO HARD BUT IT DID! there’s still so much i wanna say about how much i loved this season, and i wanna go more in depth about the character arcs and the villains, but this is getting pretty lengthy already, so I’m just going to stop here before i get even MORE carried away.

cons/things I didn’t like - legit my only gripe with this season is that we didn’t see more of wolf-walker/wolf mask Jay. I think it would’ve been better if we saw him for more than just one episode, or at least have him sideline all the other battles with Lord Ras and Cinder, driving the heartbreaking point home that Jay isn’t on the ninja’s side anymore. but I guess if they kept him there Nya would’ve kept pestering him 😭 I understand why they took Jay out early, but depending on power levels it also doesn’t make sense. not saying that Jay is stronger than Nya, but i believe in one of the Ninjago books, we find out how Ras recruited Jay- and while yes, Cinder almost killed him using Shatterspin (before Ras told him to stop), Jay was still one of the longest to last against Shatterspin without using the Rising Dragon technique. it’s also notable that at that point, Jay didn’t even know how to fight? if he lost his memory he doesn’t remember any of his training either, correct? idk, you’d think with Ras’s training AND knowing how to use Shatterspin, Jay would’ve lasted more than just one round. oh well. this isn’t really something that ruins the whole season for me or anything, this one nitpick is pretty much nothing compared to how many things I DID love about this season, but it’s still a writing decision I don’t really care for.

and thats all my yappings.. I’ll definitely come back to talking about this season, perhaps I’ll make separate posts on each character/aspect of dr s2 I want to analyze, but for now, that’s all. thanks for reading this huge thing! I really appreciate it!! 💙💙

It's quite curious how Jay is seen as a "selfish asshole" by the fandom for wanting to be his own person and for people to stop taking advantage of him, or that it's his fault for not being able to be the same as before, but nobody acts like that with Zane being the Ice Emperor even though both are victims of their circumstances
