“Hug me from behind. Kiss my shoulders, go for my sensitive neck for more kisses. Make me melt into your sweet being.”
— k.b. // melting in ur arms
on this day in 2002, layne staley passed away, he wouldn’t be discovered until 2 weeks after his death. last year was a really sad year for me. i made the other edits during that time frame, the only thing that pulled me out of that sadness was alice in chains and layne staley. i am forever thankful to have discovered music that i can relate to on such a personal level because it took me years to find that. layne’s voice has brought me comfort in times when i needed it most. the person i’ve grown into is in part thanks to the music he helped create. i can’t really fathom the words for what i feel now, but what i do know is that i will always be thankful for the beautiful music from alice in chains to mad season, and for layne. even though it’s been 20 years, it still makes me so profoundly sad to know that he’s not around to make more music and grace the world with more musical peace. the best thing i can think of to do today and forever is keep listening to the music, and keep celebrating the legacy that is layne staley. thank you for the music layne, hope you know how much you’ve helped me as well as countless others get through some of the darkest times.
