Meet Monty: The Adorable Cat With An Unusual Face
“A year ago, we adopted little 3-year-old Monty boy from an animal shelter. Monty was born without a nasal bridge (the bone in the nose) which affects him now and then and makes him sneeze a bit. Nevertheless, his personality, he showed from the very beginning, is rare as a diamond! Monty shared a room with some of the other cats from the animal shelter [that] acted a little aggressive, [but] Monty [remained] uneager to pick a fight. Monty also has a tendency to urinate in his sleep due to a leaky/loose bladder. He [becomes] embarrassed when he finds out, so we are struggling to encourage him not to be since this is a problem he can’t fix and has to learn to live with. He loves lying on your lap and at night he’ll keep you company […] until you wake up. [His] favorite place to cuddle is by far in the arms of [his dad] Michael. Monty is almost never afraid, he even loves being at the vet, a brave little fella. We wish for Monty to be an ambassador for ‘crooked’ cats or cats that may not look perfect in everyone’s eyes! We also want to raise attention to the fact that looking different doesn’t mean you can’t be fantastic.”

Every morning, her priority is to stand by the side of the road and patiently wait for her mate to return - on his scooter.
She is a gray Toulouse goose named Maria. He is a retired salesman named Dominic Ehrler. And together, they have become the talk of Echo Park.
“They walk around the park together like they’re in love,” said one park-goer. “It’s wonderful.”
“People would look at us like - what is this?” Ehrler said.
“What, they’ve never seen a guy walking with a goose before?"
"She thinks that she owns me,” Ehrler said. “The other geese are not allowed to be near me on account of Maria.”
It’s not just other geese. Maria doesn’t want any species stealing her man.
“I’ve seen her go up and scare the heck out of pit bulls,” Ehrler said. “Maria, be nice, don’t bite the dog.” [x]

On this day in 1972, Apollo 17 landed on the moon. No human has been back in 42 years. At 2:55pm EST on December 11th, 1972, soon after undocking from Ron Evans and the command module, Harrison Schmitt and Eugene Cernan safely landed on the lunar surface. Apollo 17, as it turns out, represents the last time human beings have not only ventured to the Moon, but have left the confines of low-Earth Orbit.
Schmitt and Cerman clocked in more hours (22 hours, 3 minutes, 57 seconds) exploring the moon than any other previous mission, and traveled more than 22 miles. Apollo 17 consisted of three EVAs, and the Taurus-Littrow landing site provided nearly 244 pounds of moon rocks and other lunar samples to be analyzed upon returning home. Eugene Cernan, the commander of Apollo 17, spent the last moments of the transcendent Apollo program alone on the Moon’s surface, and while he climbed the ladder and took one final look back, he expressed his thoughts: "…I’m on the surface; and, as I take man’s last step from the surface, back home for some time to come - but we believe not too long into the future - I’d like to just [say] what I believe history will record. That America’s challenge of today has forged man’s destiny of tomorrow. And, as we leave the Moon at Taurus-Littrow, we leave as we came and, God willing, as we shall return, with peace and hope for all mankind. "Godspeed the crew of Apollo 17." If you feel that it has been far too long since we humans have set foot on our nearest celestial neighbor, you should contact your elected officials and express your desire for us to go back. www.penny4nasa.org/take-action
