With the F1 Movie release lingering closer and closer, it’s time to have an uncomfortable conversation.

Forgive me for going all feminist on you (I’m not sorry), but have a seat and let’s chat, yeah?

Let’s discuss the negative impact this movie is going to have on women in motorsport as well as female fans, shall we?

Of course the obvious conversation is about the women working in motorsport. Imagine how poorly the plot is going to reflect on them. Why? Oh, well let’s see. You’ve got an entire plot that revolves around the main character (who’s played by a misogynistic wife beater, by the way, great casting choice!) sleeping with his fucking female engineer.

Now bear in mind how that’s going to negatively affect the PR of women working in motorsport. Especially Laura Mueller, who is the sport’s first ever female race engineer in its entire 75 year history. Who literally already has incels on the internet saying the only way she got her job is because she slept with someone.

And of course, consider the female fans.

There are so many of us out here every day fighting with male fans who think we “don’t know anything” and “only watch F1 because the drivers are hot.” We are constantly ostracized in this fucking sport and feeling like we have to prove that we’re even allowed to like it.

Can you imagine how poorly the F1 Movie will reflect on us?

All this movie is going to do is push the harmful, negative stereotype that F1 is a “man’s world.” It’s just going to make women feel like they don’t belong in a sport where they already feel shoved aside.

So, and maybe I’m being a little dramatic here, but if you happen to know a female F1 fan, please be kind to her. Please check on her.

And to all my ladies, we do belong in this sport. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. 💜💜

am i the friend that’s too woke or am i not the only person that’s extremely uncomfortable with the use of the word “cult” being associated with fans of lewis and yuki (like CultLH and the newly-coined CultYT) and people shouldn’t be embracing it

like i get that white people think its funny to “reclaim” it from haters but i think the real question here is how come when the Drivers of Color have a lot of fans it means that its a cult following? Lewis, Checo, Yuki fans are accused of being cults because the fans are mostly POC and I don’t think enough people are thinking critically when it comes to POC being labeled as cultists.

idk if this is a controversial take but I'm sick and tired of people saying 'Oh Danny ric should come back and replace *second driver at redbull*' 'Like this post and Daniel Richard will come back'

like most of it is light hearted but some people are getting a bit obsessed

if you had said that at any point before mid last year, I'd agree, or atleast understand where you're coming from.

but the amount of people who are set on the fact this man MUST be back in a car next season feels off to me.

like the joy and beauty of this sport have been tarnished for him, he has been sent through the ringer more times than anyone deserves these past couple years and he deserves to enjoy his life beyond the sport.

would I love to have him back? absolutely

but i think theres a point in which I find myself asking if its really the best thing for him him/something he wants.

it will always be something important to him, and I don't doubt he will stay maintain connections and an enjoyment but I don't think he would want to drive again, or atleast for now

when you're so overwhelmingly tired you plan an entire fanfic cuz you have such a specific interpretation that you need to see in writing otherwise you might explode

now, am I delusional? yes. am I running on 4 hours of sleep? also yes. but hear me out:

Max: known team mate killer (gasly, albon, perez, and now lawson(and danny ric but thats like half))

Now he's with yuki, second seat curse and all that but yuki isn't doing that badly (taking into account the few weeks he's had with it in comparison to lawson)

I think the car recognises yuki for what he is, a fellow team mate eater. (de vyres, danny ric (more than half this time), and almost lawson before he was sacrificed to lion den no. 1)

The curse subsides only for now, perhaps out of hope of what will come, hopes of what two destroyers can create together.
