Drew this one a little bit ago. The idea was that Johnny and Pony are at Jay Mountain and needed to save their matches, so they try to light from the same one. I know they’re already supposed to have their hair changed at this point, but I wanted to draw them regular. 😅

The image for this one came to me pretty clearly as I was going to bed one night. I actually had to drag out my iPad so I could sketch it right away.

What if Ponyboy and Sodapop were younger. Soda would be in his sophomore year, and Pony would be in 8th grade (skipped his 7th grade year). Soda would come home and tell Pony all about his day, from girls to sports to studies. Soda would constantly tell him that when Pony gets to high school with him, Soda would show him around and teach him everything there is to know. But as Pony went into high school the following year, Soda had to drop out to help Darry with the bills. So, one of the things that Pony had to look forwards in school, just, disappeared. He tried once to bring it up with Soda, tried to tell him about when they were younger and how Soda would make that promise to him. "Really? Wow man, I can't remember a thing past freshman year." And Soda would get up and leave, probably going with Steve somewhere. Some part of Pony left him that day, but he couldn't place it on what caused it. Either the guilt of Sodas past and present and future, the saddness of his own future, the fear of being left behind, or the dread of knowing that things will never be the same- of never going back to when times were good. But if that didn't leave a mark, the glare that Steve sent Pony (a mix between 'don't try to follow us,' and of Steve knowing that soda just left his brother for him) definitely did.

You guys know what I don’t understand? Why did Steve follow sodapop (who mind mind you, wasn’t wearing any clothes.) into the room with him only for there to be the ‘racket of a pillow fight’ the second he went in? 😭

Either Steve and Soda are just weird and randomly have pillow fights, or Ponyboy misinterpreted what they were doing.

I’m listening to The Outsiders Musical cast recording and I was not expecting it to be so gay. Like, Pony and Johnny sing about how they want to get a house together to watch sunsets and work on a garden with each other. And then in another song they sing “The reason I’m living is you/ Wherever you go/ That’s where I’ll be/ Even if death tags along/ I don’t mind there is still you and me.” And then proceed to sing about how they will never leave the other alone

I don’t even ship Johnny and Ponyboy but those lyrical choices are just so gay

It's sooooo good!!! The music hits differently. I have never heard a musical that's like, southern. Yeah, there's Waitress and all, but that's classic Broadway with a southern accent. THE OUTSIDERS, however, has like a popy style, but still has a twange, while still being very Broadway!!!!!
