As My Own Direct Immediate List Of Game Grievances I Hate That Stardew Valley Expects You To Side Against

as my own direct immediate list of game grievances i hate that stardew valley expects you to side against a wheelchair user who is upset that he was moved without his consent. i hate that the mass effect trilogy gives you visible scarring as a direct result of choosing mean dialogue and heals it if you're nice. i hate that the vampire the masquerade ttrpg has a monstrous player class that can appear as horrible vampiric monsters or as visibly disabled people and both of these appearances are mechanically the same. i hate that dark souls games have a difficulty level implemented in a way that cannot be adjusted for disability. i hate that i can play as a mermaid or a werewolf or a horse in the sims games but can't use a wheelchair. i hate that the ace attorney games have so much flashing and not all of the games can disable it. i hate that disability is constantly something that happens to teach a lesson, i hate that disability is something that happens as a punishment, i hate that disability is either compensated perfectly with no drawbacks or something that is endlessly sought to be cured. i hate that no character customization will ever include the mobility aids i use, that the player avatars that represent me will never look like me. i am so goddamn annoyed and so goddamn tired.

people acting like accessibility tools are an inconvenience to them and would rather they not exist are annoying little shits. no, the captions aren’t ruining the movie. no, that ramp isn’t making your life harder because you have to go to the side entrance. abled people are so entitled to think that other peoples accessibility is a nuisance, especially considering disabled people rarely get the same kind of access abled people get automatically. equity is not oppression of the privileged

Pyro culture is being increasingly annoyed with a lack of proper discussion around pyromania (and pyrophilia)

It's also being frustrated with a lack of proper lists of pyromanic characters and instead only receiving characters with fire powers or weapons.

the mods of cripplecharacters are god's strongest warriors because some of those asks are really just "hey can i use this disability trope? I know you guys said it's offensive like 10 times already but i don't care and i wanted to use it anyways. Btw here's the most ableist oc scenario you've ever seen" like at this point i would just start telling people to fuck off and read previously made posts before they ask me another dumbass question

Hi. This isn’t about writing necessarily, but i still want to see what you think of it. :( I just recently gave somebody a free character design as part of an event and the character i’d made was using mobility aids (a cane and a prosthetic leg). I noticed later the owner saying the character wouldn’t need a prosthetic or cane because they’d decided already that the character would have disability negating magic. I am able-bodied. I don’t know this person closely. Is it wrong of me to feel bad? Should i speak up even if it’s not my business and they can do whatever they want with the design?

Hello,

No, it's not wrong of you to feel bad or be upset, that's a shabby thing to do and I would be upset. Maybe direct message them about the change and try to talk it out with them, explain how you feel, maybe explain why magic that negates disability is a bad thing? Don't accuse them, just ask them and talk to them.

But no, you aren't wrong in not liking the change, you are very much justified in that.

Jus wanted to take a moment and say..

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, TAG MY POSTS WITH ANYTHING RELATED TO LIFTBLR!!!

That shit is fucking stupid...I swear..how're you gonna go into a store (or several) shoplift, and then not only come home and brag about it online but do so by sharing photos of the stolen items, a list of the locations you hit, AND the monetary value of the items in question?!?!

This blog is NOT about shoplifting or theft for fun or to be quirky or what the fuck ever...it's about legit KLEPTOMANIA!!!

I feel like we don’t talk enough about how having chronic illness and/or chronic pain makes you irritable. It makes you grumpy. It can make you a not very fun person to be around.

We don’t talk enough about the ugly sides of chronic illness/pain. The parts where you feel like a bad person not because of the pain in of itself but because everyone else thinks you are pushing them away. The times when you don’t bear it like a saint and the roughest edges of your personality come out. Where maybe you do hurt other people’s feelings. Its a complicated side of the experience thats resists an easy answer.

Obnoxious how most anti-infantilization activism in many low support-centric autistic communities seems to rely on arguing we don't need support rather than reducing the stigma attatched to needing support.

Simply put, most anti-infantilization autistic activism I see is about how we don't need to be talked to slowly, need 24/7 care, don't need help with going to the toilet, don't need help shopping, etc. because we 'aren't toddlers'.

Which is a bad kind of activism, because, uh, many of us DO need those things. This is a fact. Ignoring it won't make it go away. And saying that only children need those things IS infantilization.

What we SHOULD be arguing is that adults who have medium to high support needs and who need help with or just can't do basic tasks, can't speak or can't speak well, need to have things explained slowly/repeatedly, etc. are still adults and deserve to be respected as such. Having higher support needs isn't childish.

No, people shouldn't assume that all autistics have higher support needs. But autistics with lower support needs also shouldn't erase those who do, when they are ALWAYS the ones most impacted by infantilization.

wheelchair users deserve a minimum of three wheelchairs to meet different needs. like, bare minimum of indoor chair, outdoor chair, and off road chair. chairs that meet different needs for transport, activity, positioning needs, energy levels, etc.

there is not "one chair" that can meet every need. wheelchair users deserve to have multiple chairs that meet specific needs, no matter how complex their seating/positioning needs. we deserve to at least have a backup if our chair breaks that is just as suited to our needs.

I think I might be relapsing.

I don't even want to really say it because I'm afraid the second I say "I think I'm relapsing into compulsive lying," everyone is going to think everything I've ever posted is a lie and nothing I'll say will ever convince them otherwise. But I am. I am relapsing because of the situation at work and because I'm scared to go into work every single day and that's just making my mental state so much worse and now I'm compulsive lying again.

At least this time, unlike when I was younger, my lies are believable so I'm not getting caught when it happens. It might landslide back in that direction, it might not. I hope it won't. I'll try and talk to my therapist about it and see if we can figure out how to fix this.

This sucks. It could be worse, but still, it sucks.

(And no, before you ask, I'm not lying about the stuff I post online. Because online, I type out the lie but realize it before clicking post and I can just delete it. For me, compulsive lying is only really an issue in my real life. I can stop myself from lying online. And if I do lie, I can always delete the post fast. I'm not lying.)
