no one here to talk about how raph’s sense of self-preservation vs self-sacrifice is directly tied to how it affects the safety of his family and i resent that

leo gets dropped off a building, raph all but throws himself after him to catch him, no real plan, just desperation.  shadow of evil, he sees they’re way outnumbered, he literally picks his entire family up and runs.

shreddy or not, not only is he the second mvp of the initial brawling (gram gram is of course biggest mvp) putting it all on the line THROWING HIMSELF at shredder, saving bacon left and right with like zero regard for his own safety. he then has to buckle down and make the choice to get his brothers to safety TWICE while leaving people behind in the span of a couple of minutes, and he looks so absolutely torn up about it

in the movie, he’s the one who sees them getting their butts handed to them in the first kraang showdown and calls for the retreat/escape pods! and then he puts himself on the line saving leo’s life, getting hurt in the process, then getting leo out safely and being captured in the process.

and i think it’s so interesting that like. when he knows his family made it home safe in one piece, when he’s alone in enemy hands and sister kraang is straight up like “let’s kill him already he won’t tell you anything,” raph is just like. “yeah, she’s right.” no trying to stall for time or argue back. 

like his sense of self-preservation and i think overall worth really is SO so directly tied to his family’s safety. which makes it hurt even harder to see his mind and autonomy get violated and used to hurt them imo

Prequel (star-ish) - Part 1 - Next

Look. this is already a super self-indulgent au. I might as well go all in at this point. (thanks to @ahyesanerd for having the idea that there should be some apocalypse timeline shenanigans. I will be getting to their idea for the next stop. I wanted to do Webs first b/c it's going to be a little more light-hearted and silly than that. (plus, i just needed these two to meet. i can't verbalize why. I just very, very much did.))

I'm not going to be doing all the apocalypse timelines. basically just Webs and Dee before i go on with the little left i had planned. Basically, i wanted to make sure that all four Donatellos had their time and it didn't just turn out overly Seer focused (which it kinda was.)

(Poor Dee. He doesn't have any of the weirder protocols so every time one of them is brought up, he has no idea what's going on lol.)

ps. yes the first two pages i've posted before. but they went with this very well so i cleaned them up and added them here too.

so here's angie's 03 room all decorated with mystic art (it's less visions and more just vague dreams involving his brother's ninpo. since he's already unlocked his to a degree, he gets to see what his brothers will do with theirs lol)

I actually had a lot of fun with this. I used a lot of brushes i don't normally use and just went to town on the drawings. i love textured brushes but i can never figure out how to use them properly so i tend not to. This was a very good excuse just to play with them : )

Is that plush is Dees work? Like he wanted to give his kiddo something he had in his childhood

Sort of! he found it while he was out collecting scrap. It was in pretty bad condition when he found it so he washed and fixed it up so he could give it to CJ. He figured he had turtle plushes growing up, his kid should too.

And yes, it's name is Purple (b/c Cass found a little purple ribbon and tied it on before Dee could give it to CJ. So CJ saw the ribbon and was like "that's a purple ribbon. Purple would be a good name. not knowing his Papa was named Purple when he was small, or that Dee had a similar naming scheme for his stuffies lol)

Also, CJ was definitely taught some sign language since Dee knew a lot of it from when he was tiny and didn't want to talk. A lot of it is altered signs for our three-fingered turtles, but it works lol : )

Any chance of a drawing of CJ meeting the 03 guys? either apocalypse or when Dee reunites with them in the good timeline?

I...may have went a little overboard. But this image was what popped into my head when i read your ask, and it would not leave until it was finished.

Anyways, This is CJ is meeting them but not them meeting him. That happens a little later since he's being stealthy in the vents atm. He does that quite a bit, actually. Shelldon will keep him hidden there for as long as he asks to be.

This is probably about the time the 03s first showed up in the apocalypse future. They've only just found out about Dee like a minute or so ago and Leon's taken off again. I should really write this whole scene out (or comic it at least) since i can imagine it pretty well. (the only thing holding me back is that i haven't quite figured out how Dee would have died, and i'm fairly certain that would be mentioned during such a scene lol)

I think she used to dance with bitty baby donnie when he was fussy b/c the movement calmed him down. Then when he was a little less bitty, they'd dance b/c he liked it.

I would love it if after Mikey brings Raphie over to the Rise universe, CJ sees him and shouts "Grandpops!" At the top of his lungs(or great uncle Raphie but Grandpops has more oomph) and Raphie face just gets stuck on this weird strangled smile as he tries to figure out what exactly Dee has been doing since he got sent home

lol yes! Raphie's just sitting there like "yes i have a grandchild!" but also like "It's only been two years. how did i get a grandchild?!"

Though, i will say this, it would be pretty cute if, in the apocalypse timeline, Future Dee was the one that adopted baby CJ (similar to how FW has Raph adopting him.) Cass would still claim CJ first, but since Dee is probably one of the few in their group with even a little bit of Tiny human experience, He'd probably end up taking care of CJ a lot and accidentally adopting him along the way. It would be a very adorable way of Dee following in his pop's footsteps : ) (and would give CJ a very good excuse to call Raphie Grandpops)

anyways, welcome to the plot side of the Donnieverse (or at least Seer's plot.)

Everyone look at Seer learning how to use his powers for good! I'm so proud of him!

anyways, explanation, in case none of this makes sense.

Seer saw himself meeting this Donnie b/c he was going to meet him. What he didn't know was if this guy was going to have a good life after they left. So he meditated as soon as he got to this Donnie's dimension, hoping that being in said dimension would let him see that Donnie's future.

It did. So Seer immediately went out to find him to help the one way he could.

As for Donnie vs the world, (a joke title i'll probably keep b/c i cannot think of anything better) is basically that a year ago (a few months after the krang incident) Bishop found out about the turtles and kidnapped them from their own home. Now Donnie, newly escaped and only just finding out his brothers are alive, has given himself the task of finding his brothers and making sure everyone responsible for this regrets ever being involved.

It's an old fic i'm currently rewriting a lot of but i couldn't resist putting in here, specifically so Seer could help him like this.

The idea of dragons in modern times is so fun because imagine a hot summer day on your vacay and go to use the hotel pool and staff is like “valued guests we regret to inform you that the pool area is out of service at the moment, we apologize for the inconvenience”

And people like “wtf why” looking out their hotel room window and there’s this. This dragon just curled up in the pool chilling, literally, cooling itself down

Some of the staff are trying to gently shoo him away and the dragon does a soft little “rrrrrr” like a grumpy cat and a warning puff of smoke and they’re like “fuck it i don’t get paid nearly enough for this” and no ones using the pool today sorry!

I like to think that Donnie uses turtle sounds instead of speech much more often than his brothers. So I wonder where Casey might have picked up the habit from hmm hhmmm

Anyways, welcome to the start of "Donnie has a waking vision in the middle of the apocalypse for the first time while they're on mission" comic. I'm not sure how long this will be but it will probably go through Leo yelling at Donnie once he wakes up, so it will at least be that long.

the only reason this took so long to come out was b/c i got stuck on the stupid krang monster at the end. I have since given up on drawing them properly so have a pink krang-like blob instead.

Soooooooooo I saw this tweet

and…….it has consumed me!  I already know what y’all are going to say!  I know I have a lot on my plate, ok 😭😭!  I’m just being hit by ideas and prompts left and right!  Sometimes I’m just compelled to write them!  

Anyway, here’s the opening of what I’m working on.

Once Donnie took control of the Technodrome, it was frustratingly easy to take them down.  Leo doesn’t remember much of the initial assault.  He was too focused on cutting down the Kraang Generals in front of him.  They’re old, Leo can tell by the faded yellow of their eyes and the thickness of their leathery skin, but they’re the only generation left now.  The Kraang had closed ranks once the resistance shut down their birthing centers.  A Kraang hadn’t been produced on Earth soil in four years, and they’re numbers continued to dwindle with each successful attack on overtaken cities around the world.  Now, after so much death, they’re able to launch an attack on Kraangs last strong hold.

New York.  What a fucking town.  

The battle passes in flashes.  Gold chains tearing through machines and alien flesh.  Red covering the sky as Raph roars through Kraangified humans and animals alike.  The green of April’s magic crushing most of the battlefield and finally, the fiery red fall of the Technodrome.  A purple beam of metal cuts the falling wiggling ship in half, creating an open for them, and ending any hope of the machine getting off the ground.  Leo finds himself in the dilapidated throne room with his family at his back and retribution in his heart.  

What stands before them is an abomination and their last obstacle to freedom.  The Kraang, only known as Prime through intercepted communications, raises a single red eye in their direction.

“Alright boys,” April says.  She swings the giant hammer until it sits heavily across her shoulders, glowing a dangerous green.  She abandoned the bat three years ago, left it buried at the base of Sunita’s grave and enchanted a new weapon from her own rage.  “Let’s finish this.”

The monstrosity kicks rubble out of its way, its face pulls into a dangerous scowl.  “Insolent worms!”  That fight destroys what little remains of the Technodrome.  They knew Prime would be strong.  It never appeared in many battlefields, but when it did decide to leave its castle, there was never anything left.  But now, Leo thinks.  He plants a foot into the flesh of the alien and stares down into hateful eyes.  

“You think you’ve won?” it coughs.  “No one defeats Kraang.  NO ONE!”

Leo doesn’t respond, doesn’t give it anything.  This monster doesn’t deserve his words.  Leo adjusts his good hand and brings the sword down with so much force that he screams.  The blade sinks deep into the mangled heart of the beast, but Leo keeps pushing.  He pushes until his hand meets the unmoving skin of Kraang Prime and then twists for good measure.  Leo yanks the weapon free of the corpse.  He falls back with a gasp.  He stares at the twisted organ these things call hearts.  Stares as it slips free of his weapon and then he’s crying.  They did it.  They did it.  They did it.

“Casey,” Donnie says.  “It-Its done.”

There’s an echo of gunfire before her voice breaks over the com with a sob.  “About fucking time,” she cries.  There’s an evil screech, the revving of an engine, and then a sickening squelch sings loudly over the com.  “Sister is dead,” she pants.  “They all are.”  

A roar builds outside the fallen ship and Leo grins at his family.  They didn’t come out of this battle unscathed.  April wraps a bandage tightly over a shaky limb.  Her hand lost to a powerful stomp before Donnie could get to her.  Raph’s right eye taken in a single swipe and the only thing stanching the blood of Donnie’s missing leg is a mystic construction that struggles to stay solid, but they made it.  They won and they’re alive.

A shoulder leans against his and Leo looks down into the face of his little brother.  He’s bleeding and leaking mystic power everywhere, but he’s grinning.  Leo adjusts his mangled right arm with a grunt but he’s grinning too.  “I don’t know about you,” he says, and for the first time in a long time, a joke comes naturally.  “But I could use a nap.”

April snorts, but her face is just as bright as everyone else.  She tightens the tourniquet and stumbles to her feet.  “Let get medical before I lose more than just this hand.”  

They fumble to their feet and it reminds him so much of old times that it hurts.  They lean on each other, Raph even pulls Donnie on his back, the big softy.  Donnie doesn’t complain, instead he laughs, and they all laugh with him.  They did it.  They spill out of the wreckage to a wave of cheers and hands bathed in blue medical gear, and Leo finally sees a future on the horizon.
