My youth is laid out in front of me
Like scattered polaroids
Depicting a Golden Girl
Ready to face the troubles she know avoids
I spy with my little eye
A soon to be no longer
She longs for a different tide
She longs to be younger
The gruesome waters drown the crops before the harvest
Greet settles in and the Fallen get the farthest
Daughter of the Divine
Child of mother earth
Do you know where the sun sets?
Do you know it’s worth?
You mourned winters end
But wished for warmth
You shoe daggers into heaven
And raindrops fell in swarms
Lover of the Light lives in a cave beneath the mountains
Nothing will bring you back, no bridges, no fountains
Board the ship and sail towards the stormy sea
Desperate and naiv, conceited by dreams, you’re no Hercules
Wings of fire light up the sky
The sweet scent of honey
Your eyes reflect the flames
And the work turns sunny
Icarus welcomes me with loving arms
Embraced by wishful thinking, by an old friend
His heart beats like mine, his skin is painted by burns
With you I soar, with you I meet my end
(a poem i once wrote, i’ve always been incredibly self conscious abt showing other ppl what i write but it’s fun to share it and see what other think! i’d love to hear your thoughts!)
