LSD is one of the most powerful drugs ever created, and for the first time ever, scientists at Imperial College London have successfully image scanned human brains that are under the influence of the psychedelic drug. The study has had profound impacts on our understanding of consciousness. As one researcher explained, βNormally our brain consists of independent networks that perform separate specialised functions, such as vision, movement and hearing - as well as more complex things like attention. However, under LSD the separateness of these networks breaks down and instead you see a more integrated or unified brain. In many ways, the brain in the LSD state resembles the state our brains were in when we were infants: free and unconstrained.β
Is life as we know it a computer simulation? It sure would seem like it is. But is it plausible? Are our lives and everything around us just a made up place controlled by something far greater than we are?
Here are 10 reasons how life is a simulation:
10. Ancestor Simulators
Could there be some other power or civilization thatβs using what we call βlifeβ as a personal entertainment module? Could humans, this galaxy, and the infinite amount of space around us just be a game? We play games like that. Sid Meyerβs Civilization is one. You are the overlord and you can control and manipulate things at your own discretion. You are simulating life for the βpeopleβ in the game. That is a simulation of how you would want things in your own world.
9. If Someone Can, They Will
Could people on this planet and in this realm of understanding be able to simulate this βlifeβ and all that is in it? Absolutely not. Humans are far too low on the scale of intellect to be able to do something like that. If you rule that out then you have only one real option: there must be a higher force thatβs able to and willing to use what we call βlifeβ as a play thing or expendable assets for the sole reason of finding out how to make the perfect βlifeβ for all.
8. Visible Flaws
One thing that you have to ask is: assuming there is a higher power behind that, how do you explain whatβs going on today? We all have heard or have used the term βglitch in the matrix.β Thatβs exactly what it is. If this βlifeβ is a simulation like The Matrix then everything that you can think of: weather, war, health, nature, EVERYTHING, are all just glitches that are introduced to see how we as humans deal with them. Itβs the ultimate trial and error.
We all have cases of deja vu and nobody can understand the phenomena. Could deja vu be our brainβs way of seeing visible flaws in the simulation?
Is deja vu the glitch in the matrix?
7. Math Makes Up Life
Almost everything today is run by computers and computers run on math. There are mathematical equations that can prove almost anything. If βlifeβ is a simulation, then by definition, βlifeβ is a math problem. Math is the source for how the simulation works.
6. The Anthropic Principle
The Anthropic Principle asks one simple question: Why did conditions work out so well for us and not for other planets?
Whatever the higher power is: God, a super race, etc., had to have designed this simulation for us as humans to live in. What would be the point of creating a simulator if both us and they wouldnβt learn something?
5. Parallel Universes
If there is a higher power running the simulation, do you think that this universe would be the only one? Assume there are other universes. Could humans be just the same as we are now? And how many others could there be? The answer has no limits. In other universes any variable, no matter how insignificant, is changed to see how we and our βclonesβ deal with it. The βlifeβ we live in right now is just one of countless ways βlifeβ can be lived.
4. Fermiβs Paradox
Fermiβs Paradox can be summed up like this: Where is everybody?
To date there hasnβt been one shred of evidence of life on any other planet or anywhere in this universe. Could that be proof that this is just a simulation? In another parallel universe, Earth could be vacant and Neptune could be inhabited. See the point? Where is everyone? Itβs just us.
3. God Is A Programmer
In the Bible it says God created everything in six days and rested on the seventh. Could God, or whatever higher power there is, have used computers to simulate everything? Could God be programming our current exist right now? But why would God do that? Again, itβs the same reason: to see how we adapt. Just like any game or story, you have your protagonist, your antagonist and supporting characters in between. On another parallel universe the good guys here could be the bad guys there and vice versa.
2. Outside The Universe
If you could take a knife and slice open the space around you what would be there? Are parallel universes that thinly separated? Could this universe and everything in it be the only universe? What would we find if we went outside of it? Would we indeed find other universes? Would we see ourselves doing vastly different things? Maybe in another universe it is possible to suspend an elephant to a cliff with itβs tail tied to a daisy.
1. Fake People Make For Easy Simulations
Since we really canβt prove or disprove any of this, letβs assume for a minute that βlifeβ is a simulation. Can things change when we blink our eyes? Could blinking be changing the variables of nature and the world around us? Itβs hard to comprehend but maybe it is all a simulation in every aspect, in every way, for everyone.
