Tony in India - scene analysis 💕
Peter is attacked by the Vulture. His suit detects the danger and activates the parachute function.
- Tony did everything to protect Peter. He made a great, high-tech suit for him, making sure to put in a parachute, an AI, a lots of features and everything he might need in any situation to make sure he's totally protected.
But during his descent, Peter gets wrapped up in the fabric and almost drowns.
-- Imagine how Tony must have blamed himself, he who always blames himself for everything, that something like this happened to Peter
- Tony always worries about Peter, and wants to be alerted to anything that happens to him.
He puts a baby-monitor protocol in his suit to be able to watch over him
He puts a tracker to be able to find Petet wherever he is, because he knows what it's like to be lost, and to come to his rescue when he needs it
And he thought about what he experienced before to make his suit
- He puts the parachute because he saw Pepper and Rhodey almost die falling, and doesn't want it to happen to Peter.
- And he puts this heater so that Peter is not to suffer the cold as it happened to him in Iron Man 3.
"You're in dire need of an upgrade. Systemic, top to bottom. 100-point restoration. That's why I'm here." - Tony in Civil War
He asks Peter what exactly he wanted to do. He doesn't yell at him directly without listening (like his father did with him) but asks him for explanations and tries to understand.
He listens to him and understands what Peter is saying, trusts his judgement and his words and later calls the FBI to take care of it.
Tony is in India because he needed to step back, take stock (cf: a homecoming adaptation book I have) and reflect on everything that just happened in Civil War. He needed to get away from the empty Avengers facility.
But even on vacation he always keeps an eye on his loved ones to make sure everyone is okay.
He's really afraid that Peter will get hurt or get killed trying to deal with things that are too big for him. He wants him to understand that it's also good to save and help people on daily life without doing big things every day.
He listens to the messages Peter leaves him every day and remembers the little details he told him like the fact that a woman gave him churros to thank him.
(He will also remember that Peter left the band and how long ago in the ferry scene)
At this moment we can see that his hand is shaking like when he's about to have an anxiety attack. He just got so scared for Peter.
Imagine, Tony was trying to rest in India and all of a sudden FRIDAY tells him that Peter is in danger and then a few seconds later that he's about to die.
He's also afraid that Peter won't listen to him and will continue to get into dangerous situations like this and he needs Peter to listen, he can't bear it if anything happens to him.
"And if you died, I feel like that’s on me. I don’t need that on my conscience"
This is the proof that Tony would never make Peter face anything that he knows he won't be able to or that would put him in danger.
Peter was already Spider-Man before he met Tony and the only thing Tony did was upgrade his suit to make it safer. And then always makes sure that he stays safe.
That's why the kill mode is not activated in his suit for the moment. Tony created it because he knows that if Peter stays in this superhero path, he will have a lot to go through. And Tony tries to make the journey the least painful possible. He knows that this mode will be used one day, but obviously not for now.
When they went to the airport Tony thought they wouldn't even have to fight because he was always hoping to prevent fights. But he knew that if they did have to fight they wouldn't hurt Peter.
Plus he had spoken with him before to make sure Peter was ready. And they had discussed to make sure that Peter would stay away and not even approach them to avoid any injuries.
"What we discussed. Keep your distance. Web 'em up."
He trusts him to handle the problems properly and do the right thing
He wants Peter to be a normal teenager and have a normal life. He wants him to focus on his studies and knowing his potential even offers to help him get into MIT.
He always took care of Peter and did everything to protect him and for him to be happy. He's the best mentor and he deserves the best 💕

Steve did choose to live in Tony’s honour, and in his memory.
