So Something I've Been Rethinking A Lot When It Comes To Toriel, While She Is A Very Wonderfully Flawed

So something I've been rethinking a lot when it comes to Toriel, while she is a very wonderfully flawed character, is why she called Asgore's lack of action out in the end. Her words were DIRECTLY telling him that if he "truly wanted to free everyone, he would have gone to the surface and collected six more souls".

While Asgore has every reason to not want to go to the surface, what Toriel is dissatisfied with isn't that he didn't immediately kill everyone on the surface. I think the post pacifist ending was a bit rushed, so that's why it mostly went everyone's heads, but let's really think about this for a second.

Asgore is a dangerously selfless person, to the point that Papyrus himself indirectly calls him out on it and calls him a pushover. He is too nice and considerate to everyone to the point it borders on self-sabotage. And that's where his flaw comes in. He was lying to his people, essentially, promising freedom that he never intended on bringing them. While Asgore undeniably has his reasons for delaying the inevitable which I'll get into in another future meta post, you also can't deny that his flaw, by extension, has not just hurt himself, but his people by lying to them and giving them false hope. To the point he's literally willing to kill himself just to further delay things.

I believe THAT'S what Toriel was calling out all along. That he never had intentions to free his people in the end and couldn't just be honest with them while finding a different solution.

The neutral endings when Toriel is dethroned ONLY happens when you hurt or kill people in the underground, and monsters are more or less fairly happy to accept her proposal after you leave when you're on a post pacifist run/haven't killed anyone.

Toriel and Asgore are both parallels to in each other, and they are just as deeply flawed as each other. Neither one of them is "better" than the other, and it's time we put an end to that debate.

In the end, all they are is two broken people who separated due to severe and terrible trauma that neither of them could hope to fathom.

I guess, this universe has accepted me

Around two or three years ago I had a fever dream with them. I thought it was too low-quality to post, but now I think it looks okay.

This is based on theory where dr.Gaster traveled into another universe/created it (deltarune) where war between monsters and humans never happened or something (I never played deltarune). And Gaster here is satisfied that, in some ways, he did improve monsterkind situation, as he had promised... The underside is that he is no longer part of that world. As an outsider, a person from another universe that never existed in that one, he never interacts with the world in fear that something will go wrong. But sometimes he comes out of his hiding place for necessaries.

That is when he meets Asgore in the shop and he tries to talk to him or smth. Gaster runs away from interaction but in his panic he does not look around and gets hit by a car??? Or it was Asgore who hit him??? I don't remember honestly. But then this conversation happens and he learns that he can interact with ppl now

As I said it was a fever dream after watching too many lore videos, but this is cool AU. So much fluff and so much angst of my god. Gaster knows everything about Asgore, yet Asgore does not remember him. Yet he feels some kind of familiarity, predetermined gentleness and care toward this strange man, and feels at ease around him. And Gaster, who haven't interacted with people for 1000 years is just 🥺💔 But also he doesn't know if his original universe ceased to exist, he misses his home, and this Asgore is not his Asgore... I'm sucker for this shit Anyways the english here is bad, wingdings is even worse. I didn't have original script and had to translate wingdings from the pictures(read in ALT). Everything for you guys
