Stop comparing Checo with Lawson, they are practically VERY different. The only thing they share is the fact that they drove for RBR as second driver. Everything else, completely different
Checo had been in F1 for years, in mid-table/low teams, achieving podium finishes in some cases. Practically demonstrating his driving skills, but without any luck of victory. Until Sakhir 2020, a victory where he came back from his incident to win. Reason why many people were happy when I joined RBR. Checo is known for being a kind person who treats others well within F1.
Instead we have Lawson, who was painted as a great pilot, being able to achieve what Checo didn't, lie! He started in 2023 showing himself as an option, it was not until 2024 that he was already in the VCARB seat that he showed who he really is. Having problems with Spanish-speaking pilots. It's already been bad for him and it's getting worse, not only he's not give good results, but other pilots have shown to have problems with him- I would say it's ridiculous to see it like this, bc one wouldn't expect it to go SO badly. And it's surprising to see everything that happens, because in FACT it gives worse results than Checo's last races, because Checo simply ended up with a wrecked car, without a team to help him, with an engineer who ignored him. Lawson ain't, bc his engineer is not the same (the previous one didn't even do his job well), team does what they can to help him, but this is very embarrassing to see.
Fun fact: when RBR said goodbye to Checo, Checo's helmet, his famous slogan, was erased, his "Never give up". I guess that wasn't just an edit, but it reflects on the team itself, and I'm happy that's happening.
And last thing to comment, I hope Yuki isn't going to be in that damn car and that damn Helmut
Well, I tried. Cringe is eating me up alive
this is the most stressful race weekend of the season what the hell
ima come on here and yes idc but the disqualification of portugal was upsetting.
120 mins and failed chanced and that’s okay, everybody makes mistakes. but hating on a TWENTY FOUR YEAR OLD MAN, over one missed penalty? and saying it was ENTIRELY HIS FAULT? is disgusting, i’ve seen comments such as “joão felix live execution” , “joao felix biting the curb 4k”. yall gotta understand that these are humans like us that deal with difficulty, pressure and possibly depression.
i am defending him bcs its upsetting that his depression from last year is coming back, it’s sad too how thinking that death threats is going to make shit worse for somebody like him, and saying “ronaldo lost his last euro bcs of him!!” shut up, yall switch up everytime.
I don’t think we as a society properly appreciate how fucking insane “Maybe God is with him, but he is not God” hits.
That’s some Shakespeare level shit. That belongs in the Godfather. And Max Verstappen just dropped that about Lewis Hamilton. Fucking insane.
genuinely I am worried about Max and Checo in Redbull and how they will be treated going forward after Max's newest championship win. The win was something that they as a team desperately needed and you could tell Max was so relieved, but also the way both drivers talked about the win afterwards was so ominous. Max practically yelled to the heavens he won despite the awful car and team management, and Checo emphasized the same for Max while also being disappointed about the failings of the strategy chosen for him (even though he pulled impossible levels of overtakes and tyre managements on this track)
I'm worried that all concerns that Max and Checo have about the car will continue to be brushed aside, because a dangerous failing car and a mess of a team that has to buzzsaw their rear wings is of no concern when Max still wins championships. They'll keep having those two race those death tractors until something horrific happens. In the meantime they're happy to have Checo take the entire brunt of the racist xenophobic attacks despite Max constantly defending him.
Alex being this loud on the radio this season whether positive or angry I think is a good thing. I’m glad he’s aggressively advocating for himself and being unrestrainedly expressive. He’s trying to get his team to listen to him and treat him like the senior lead driver of the team (as he should!!) instead of ignoring him
People are clutching their pearls over his radios but it’s because they’ve never taken him seriously and always treated him like this child who is supposed to be happy and positive all the time. They’re either switching up now that he’s not acting “palatable” and standing up for himself. its the infantilizing of asian/SEA men
I think it's embarrassing that Marko is this pathetic at his crusty old age and that the driver he chose to put in the Red Bull seat hyped up on his own arrogance failed this entire race weekend.
This is the disgusting behavior that doesn't allow drivers to show emotion, especially drivers of color. They cannot express frustration or be upset, they will always be dehumanized and berated for every human emotion. Thank goodness that Anthony Hamilton comforted Isack in such a genuine and beautiful way. I am so scared for how this sport is going to try to chew up our two VCARB drivers.
how I’m sleeping tonight
I also just have to say that I know people are worried for Jack Doohan about his seat (and they have a right to!) but I hope this doesn’t come with more hatred for Franco and his fans. People can talk about how much Alpine sucks without dragging Franco about it.
people were so terrible about Franco after he replaced Logan and acting like him and his fans were the problem instead of Williams Racing. And its not a stretch at all to say people were being weirdly aggressive and mean towards them because franco’s fans are mostly latine.
“Oh people only notice or care about how awfully Williams treats its drivers now that it’s Franco 😒—“ I don’t understand, more people were noticing and talking about Williams driver mistreatment BECAUSE with Franco came a new and larger audience who was helping vocalize the issues within F1 fan spaces. Why are you complaining and calling us the problem?
I’m worried the same convos will come up this season with Alpine. Franco is a delight who is respectful to all the drivers unlike other rookies while also fighting properly for his ambition within the sport. And us fans are there to support that too! Discuss awful F1 business practices without being weird and critical towards minorities.
Lando fans pushing the mental health narrative gets really old when they willingly disregard every single McLaren employees and Oscar’s mental health by bullying them and sending unalive threats.
News Flash - mental health doesn’t just matter when it’s about Lando. Actually, since the guy talks about it so much (which I respect endlessly) it should really make his fans think twice about what they do and say about others.
