So Obsessed I Made a Playlist: Anne Bishop's The Others

It took me all of two days to read Written in Red and Murder of Crows, Anne Bishop’s (the author of the high fantasy Black Jewels series) take on the urban fantasy/paranormal genre. Since I can’t stop thinking about the books and I’m not quite ready to leave the world of Lakeside Courtyard and its terra indigene residents, it’s playlist time.

Inspired by Meg Corbyn fiddling with the radio in her office, trying to figure out which music she likes, and the songs that remind her of her world.

* This one is maybe a tad cheaty because Meg doesn’t see Ferrymans Landing in Murder of Crows, but Steve Ferryman and the Intuits clearly needed a happy song.

hannah gadsby took the format of a 1 hour standup special and split it into 3 related acts: 1. do normal standup comedy jokes. funny. feminist. 2. riff extensively on art history. move back and forth between outrage at the patriarchy and hilarity. 3. critique the whole format of standup comedy, explain why she’s quitting her comedy career, and discuss her experiences as a survivor at the intersections of homophobia and misogyny with complete seriousness and sincerity. Woven in with stories from the “regular jokes” and “art history jokes” cast in a new light. will make you cry.
