Queer Themes in Taylor Swift's Music (Masterdoc)

I've been working on this project for about six months now because I wanted a comprehensive resource that explains why the music feels queer. I'm intending to keep it as a living document, adding on as new music and videos are released but I think it's ready to share and start using as a resource.

There are no pap photos, no mentions of any official or assumed relationships, nothing that can be argued as falling into a grey area. It's just lyrics, music videos and public performances, with the occasional interview or social media picture for context.

I really hope it helps everyone in exploring the queer themes in Taylor's music, and that it can help explain why it authentically captures the LGBTQIA+ experience. ✌️

Headcanon for Hizzie. When Hope graduates, she goes to some prestigious university. When Lizzie graduated, she takes a gap "year" for however long, and becomes Hope's roommate in her apartment. That's where they find they've become a romantic relationship ship without ever meaning to.

Yes! Oh! Or Lizzie gets an apartment near campus and Hope ends up spending all her time there. A small group of people start a rumor about Lizzie being Hope’s “off-campus girlfriend”. During finals when Hope is really stressed out Lizzie comes and brings her coffee while she’s studying in the library. Eventually they start going to all the little school events together like bonfires and rec center skate nights. 

And yeah, neither of them have dated someone in a while and sure, they go out to dinner and the movies and share a bed when Hope stays over. But they’re not dating. At least that’s what they say. Eventually they start kissing each other on the cheek to say goodbye and then they’re saying “I love you” and holding hands everywhere and then, oh. They’ve just sort of fallen into a relationship together. 

I love it!!
