Z.M. Wilmot’s Personality Tarot Spread
1. Central Characteristic: This card represents the most important part of someone’s personality; it is the card that best describes and sums up the the personality of the entire person. It is both the primary factor and the summary of the rest of the spread.
2. Influencing Characterstic: This card is the second most important aspect of someone’s personality, and influences, mitigates, or complements the Central Characteristic; in many ways it also the secondary characteristic of a person, and provides a second dimension to one’s personality, adding depth to it.
3. Influence of Past: This card sums up the influences that past events have had on one’s personality; memory is an important part of our personality, our desires, and our own identity. This card represents and shows the influence that this memory has had on a personality.
4. Goals of the Future: This card represents what one are striving to accomplish; another aspect of one’s personality is their drive, and what makes them motivated: that motivation and drive is represented by this card, which shows the thing that the person is striving to achieve, and their most important desire for the future.
5. Unconscious Thoughts and Motives: This card represents the unconscious thoughts and concerns of a person, and also represents this person’s motives. It answers the questions of “why do they do this?” as well as those of “what are they really thinking?” This is their unconscious drive (rather than the conscious drive of Card 4), and represents the deepest aspects of their personality, hidden from themselves. This card also serves as the synthesis of cards 8 and 10.
6. Conscious Thoughts and Concerns: This card represents the person’s conscious thought. It helps one examine what the most important things are to this person, and represents their most pressing concerns, and what is most important to them at this time. This card also serves as the synthesis of cards 7 and 9.
7. Public Face: This card is the public aspect of one’s identity; this is how others perceive this person, and how their environment (including other people) affects them and notices them. This card is similar to Card 8 (second from the bottom of the Staff) on the Celtic Cross. This card represents how they want others to see them as well.
8. Private Face: This card represents the concept of self-identity and self-image, and shows how a person really thinks of themselves. This might line up with one’s public face, but often is at least slightly different. This card is similar to Card 7 (bottom of the Staff) of the Celtic Cross spread. This card shows how this person really feels about himself, and what they think their own identity is.
9. Public Desire: This card represents what one says they want; it is the stated hopes and fears of a person. This is what the person wants others to think they want and what they want others to think they are afraid of; this card represents those desires made public.
10. Private Desire: This card represents one’s true hopes and fears; their heart’s desire or their deepest, secret fear. These are the desires that people keep repressed and hidden – sometimes even from themselves – for various reasons. These are the inner passions and repressed terrors that often motivate people’s actions unconsciously.
Started doing grimoire prompts as a group in my discord server, and now I'm making a trip to the stationary store today because I'm gonna do this shit. I might post pictures and stuff here as I make progress
You Will Need:
A small or medium sauce pan/pot
3 Fragrant Red Roses
8 to 10 oz. of Spring Water
I recommend that you let your water be blessed and charged by the sun the day before making this, you could use Moon Water if you wanted to also. Make sure that the water is drinkable though, so don’t use Ocean Water for example.
Make sure that your petals are free of all dirt and bugs and if you MUST use store bought roses, thoroughly wash the petals before doing this as they get sprayed in the store with pesticides.
Pour your water into your pot and then add the petals one by one making sure again that there are no bugs or dirt that may have been missed.
Using a wooden (or plastic if you don’t have wood) spoon, gently submerge the petals, they’ll float, but try to get the tops wet too. Heat slowly on Medium Low heat, do not bring to a boil.
After about 30 minutes your water should be turning a light pink color and should be quite fragrant. I let mine heat for 45 minutes to an hour depending on the color and taste. Definitely give it a taste and see if you think it’s strong enough for you, you can always add more petals.
The petals should be iridescent once it’s done. Go with what you feel on when you think it’s done, but it shouldn’t ever take more than an hour. Once you’re done fill a jar or bottle with the Rose water and store it in the fridge.
This keeps pretty well, up to two months in the fridge, but I wouldn’t let it go much longer than that unless you had to.
I hope that helps you guys out, like I said it’s super simple and a lot of it has to do with preference. :) wiccanwolfinthewoods I’d love to see how yours comes out! :)
Where do our herb associations come from?
In our little community we regard rosemary as an all purpose herb, a replacement for other herbs. Rosemary itself is used for a lot of things just in general, and according to pinecone.pub and onespiritx.tripod it can be used for Anointing, Blessing, Cleansing, Consecration, Defense, Determination, Divination, Exorcism, Healing, Inspiration, Love, Lust, Memory, Protection, Psychic Development, Purification, Sleep, Spiritual Healing, Spirituality, Warding, Willpower, Wisdom, Youth.
however, i’ve also noticed a lot more people are asking why we use this herb for that, rallying against blindly following herb meanings and taking them for granted, so i’ve done some cursory research (x). it doesn’t cover everything, but here’s some to get the ball rolling:
cleansing/defense/protection/purification/warding - we tend to think of these in more magical/spiritual senses, of course, but originally it was brought to funerals to protect against infection (segways into next bullet)
memory - the herb took on another association, for memory, as funeral goers would start dropping the rosemary onto the coffin, symbolizing a promise to remember the deceased. In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare writes, “Dry up your tears, and stick your rosemary/ On this fair corse.” rosemary would also be used in bridal wreaths in tudor weddings to help the couple remember their vows. the memory association is again noted in shakespeare, as he says in Hamlet, “There’s rosemary, that’s for remembrance. Pray you, love, remember.” and he mentions rosemary again in The Winter Tale, “For you, there’s rosemary and rue; these keep/ Seeming and savour all the winter long…” referencing how distinctive the scent is all year round.
Love/Lust - again, shakespeare references rosemary in Romeo and Juliet, though this relation seems a little weak, “Doth not rosemary and Romeo begin both with the same letter?“
Anointing/Blessing//Consecration/Exorcism/Protection/Purification/Spiritual Healing/Warding - rosemary became considered a “holy plant” through its association with sacred rites, became heavily used by the church for festivals and holidays, and was used as a ward against “black magic”. “Down with rosemary and so,/Down with the baies and mistletoe,/ Down with the holly, ivie all/ Wherewith ye deck the Christmas hall.” -the poet Herrick
sleep/warding/protection/healing - in a letter from Queen Phillippa of England’s mother, “The leves layde under the heade whanne a man slepes, it doth away evell spirites and suffereth not to dreeme fowle dremes ne to be afeade. But he must be out of deedely synne for it is an holy tree.” [the leaves laid under the head when a man sleeps, sends away evil spirits and prevents nightmares]. It was also customary around this time to burn rosemary and juniper berries as a disinfectant. it was also made into teas to disinfect sore gums/throats
youth - “Make thee a box of the wood of rosemary, and smell to it and it shall preserve thy youth.” - Banckes Herbal, 1525. a possible indication of the cultural beliefs surrounding rosemary in this era.

so with superstitions and traditions aside, rosemary itself does have its own medicinal uses. you often see it touted as useful for “muscle pain, improving memory, boost the immune and circulatory system, and promote hair growth”.
however, before making a tincture for any of these uses i would recommend looking for medical studies to see how well/proven these uses are.
I made some lavender milk for my spirit companion L <3 I used this recipe if anyone was interested in making their own! It tastes wonderfully sweet and floral

As a witch with a chronic illness that can leave me extremely low on energy for weeks at a time, I’m always looking for witchy things to do that won’t leave me exhausted. Even simple spells draw from your own energy pool so these are the things I do when my pool is running dry.
Cleansing - Negative energy always builds up in my space during a bout of sickness, after a good cleansing of my outer I find my inner much more positive also. Here are some easy ways to cleanse
-Light some incense -Fill a spray bottle with water (moon water would be handy for this), herbs of your choice (I usually use sage), and some salt. Then go around to each room and spray some into each corner -Cleanse yourself by taking a bath or shower and using gorgeous smelling products -Open a window and let the fresh air blow positive energy into your house
Sigils - When I don’t have the energy for full-on spells/rituals I sit down and make some cute sigils. I try to make them specific to my situation, so when I am feeling especially down because of health issues I will make a sigil with the intent “My health does not affect my mental state” or something similar. You can also
-Put a sigil on your pill bottles for a little boost (although magic is NOT a replacement for medicine and you should never completely rely on it for any health issues) -Put a sigil on your heat bags/hot water bottle -Draw them on your wrist -Draw them at the bottom of your tea mugs with honey
Beauty Products - Being stuck in bed feeling like death himself can make me feel, well, not awesome appearance wise. I found making myself feel nice on the outside can help my moral SO MUCH. I don’t mean you have to get up and put on a full face of make-up, but these little things can make a big difference
-Rosehip oil spray. It smells amazing, has many magical benefits including health and feeling calm and sensual, and is super refreshing with the added bonus of being rly good for your skin -Scented lip balm for when your lips are feeling dry and sore eg I have pomegranate lip balm for when I want to make an offering to Persephone but have absolutely no energy. They come in sooo many flavors and scents, just pick which ones resonate with what you need! -Perfume/essential oils. Just use a scent that corresponds with what you would like to do, like tea tree oil for health or lavender for relaxation. Also, smell pretty=feel pretty.
Prayers - It can be hard keeping up appearances to the Gods when you have no energy so every night before bed, or generally whenever I feel like it, I say a little prayer. Of course if you are a secular witch you could just take some time to appreciate the things in nature/your life that makes it magical.
Tea - It’s so nice having a soothing hot drink when your throat feels like a huge cluster of quartz has gotten stuck in there. There are so many posts out there about magical uses for tea but here is a couple
-Adding herbs for intent -Leaving a crystal in your mug overnight so your mug and tea is charged with intent -Blowing away the steam and visualize blowing away negative energy
Get to know your crystals - Lets be honest, I have so many crystals I’ve forgotten what half of them are. I like taking them out and surrounding myself with them and then picking them up one by one and focusing on its energy to re-connect. This takes barely any of my energy as I can do it in bed, and makes me feel warm and fuzzy seeing all my pretties in front of me.
Read/Study - This is what I spend the majority of my time doing. There is ALWAYS more to learn about witchcraft and I can do it while lying down. There are so many free witchy book pdfs on tumblr as well, just remember not to believe everything you read.
Witchy Crafts - This one could take a little more spoons than the others, but it’s super gratifying. To find some things to do you can scroll through the tumblr tag “witch diy”. Some things I have done are
-Sewed cute tarot bags to hold my cards -Used thick cotton to make my own little necklace crystal holder -Bought gemstone beads and made my own jewelry
Visualization - This is in my opinion the foundation of all spells and a lot of the time I don’t even use any other ingredients because that takes too much energy. I just focus on my intent and chant a little bit or sing and let the spell come to light all through visualizing it. I have charmed items, helped my plants grow and a lot more this way. I also like to visualize myself in a beautiful, flower-filled forest and feel the sun/moon pulling dark clouds of negative energy/illness out of my body to help when i’m feeling particularly unwell.
Meditation - My favorite spoonie witchy thing to do. It calms you, cleanses you, broadens your mind and senses and helps me personally deal with any pain caused by my illness. It can be done at any time and you really feel recharged afterwards. You can even light some candles, light some incense, sit outside under the moon, so many things.
So these are all I can think of right now, feel free to add on so we can all help each other out! Much love to every one of you 💕

Hello witch mom!! 🖤💜🧡 Wanted to ask if you read any good books that would do for a beginner witch? If so, I’d like to hear some of them!
A lot of witch books, especially for beginners, have some wonderful information! They also have some iffy information, or stuff that may not fit for you. That’s just how it is. You can always learn something from any book if you go into it with critical thinking. That being said, here’s some books I’ve read that I would recommend:
Grovedaughter Witchery by Bree NicGarren
The Sisters Grimmoire by Bree NicGarren
Pestlework by Bree NicGarren
Of Witchcraft and Whimsy by Orriculum Rose
Garden Witchery by Ellen Dugan
Modern Tarot by Michelle Tea
The Way of the Hedge Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock
Italian Folk Magic by Mary-Grace Fahrun
Five Principles of Green Witchcraft by Asa West
Currently reading:
Viridarium Umbris by David Schulke
Wortcunning by Nigel G. Pearson
I’ve purchased these books but haven’t read them yet:
Moonology by Yasmin Boland
Tea Leaf Reading for Beginners by Caroline Dow
A Cart Full of Magic by Ileana Abrev
Weave the Liminal by Laura Tempest Zarkoff
Haus Magick by Erica Feldmann
Revolutionary Witchcraft by Sarah Lyons
The Green Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock
Green Witchcraft by Paige Vanderbeck
The Green Witch Herbal by Barbara Griggs
The Witches Almanac 2018 - The Magic of Plants Issue 37
Books I’ve read that I wasn’t impressed with:
Witch by Lisa Lister
Modern Witchcraft by Skye Alexander (from what I remember, but I plan on re reading it in case it’s better than I recall)
This shop features a lot of excellent witchcraft books.
Another thing to consider is the value of non-witchy books. Some of my best information is from books catered to everyone.Science and witchcraft go hand in hand.
Field guides (for the PNW/North America)
Advice for finding helpful online resources for plant identification (plus some field guide recommendations for the PNW/NA).
Additionally, don’t underestimate the value of online resources:

THIS MUST BE THE PLACE: an inspired “love” tarot spread by The Talking Heads.
Perhaps you have caught the eye of someone sparking something unexpected in you. Maybe you need a little assistance in deciphering the fickle nature of The Lovers and the journey that may partake amongst you. You want to understand the tender nature at hand and reassure that your heart is in it’s rightful place as events transpire. This spread is to help assess the emotions and feelings you are having towards your person of interest. Remember: the cards are merely an outline and guide to your story, but ultimately, you write your own ending. *feel free to switch out any lyrics you may not connect with for each card
The significator card: The Lovers
1. i feel numb, born with a weak heart, i guess i must be having fun: this card represents your overall feelings at the moment towards them; where your heart is lingering. feel free to draw another card applied to the first one if you feel the need for more clarification. add another draw if you’re curious about what they may feel for you.
2. and you’re standing here beside me, i love the passing of time: this card represents the situation that has brought you and them together. remember as best as you can what events lead up to your first initial meeting, or what you could currently be involved in with eachother.
3-4. i can’t tell one from the other, i find you, or you find me?: the strength and weakness of your heart placed in a romantic situation. either card could be the strength or weakness–you must decipher between the two meanings.
5. share the same space for a minute or two: a future challenge that you may come to face involving them. love invites challenges to the table in order to test it’s foundations of trust and compassion. do not be so alarmed, but prepare yourself.
6. eyes that light up, eyes look through you: represents the outcome between you and them.
