Where an already endangered species is on the brink of functional extinction...
Oh, and 500 million animals unique to this country have already lost their lives, upon homes that have been destoryed and lives lost of people as well...
I mean... we're only living in a literal inferno...
415 fires. Fuck are we dying...
Oh yeah and people are just fleeing to the damn ocean, you know?
Do you want to know what Hell on Earth looks like..?
Because there it is in all it's unfiltered, firey rage...
There it is... my home from space...
This is only the beginning. Our country has not only entered a new decade, it seems a new dawning era as well, because this flaming apocalypse doesn't show any sign of stopping any time soon.
And you know what saddens me? I've never seen Australian tragedies trending here on this website. I mean it's been going on for months and only now does it seem to really be getting recognized, even if it is only at #9.
And I'm going to be honest with you here - the internet, and media in general is so American centric, this website being no exception. You'd think that an entire continent being on fire for several months with devastating consequences would have more recognition, but no, it really doesn't. The most notes I've ever seen on a post about the Australian fires is at least a few thousand, and that's about it.
So just... please. If you can, with this post or any other post in regards to the fires going on down here, reblog. Because the only thing that should be spreading like wildfire, is a post about a burning country...
Ok, so here’s my take on Hozier and his band wearing Catrín/Catrina makeup (I’m a Mexican living in Mexico, so yeah, I can talk abou this, just in case anyone was wondering):
I’m not gonna lie. My first reaction was “oh, he looks so good, he’s beautiful,” etc. But a feeling of discomfort was still there.
Here’s what he said about the painting at his concert:
I think he did it with respect and admiration, but… he could’ve done it better. He could’ve metioned Mexico explicitly, or Día de Muertos (I also think it was a mistake to do this on Halloween, ‘cause Día de Muertos isn’t Halloween’s equivalent or just a costume, it’s a culture and a tradition which is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd.) I’m not really mad at him, but I understand the anger and sadness of other Mexican fans. He could’ve done it better.
What REALLY bothers me is people saying “nice Halloween costume!,” ‘cause that’s sheer ignorance. I’m also bothered by people who say we’re “overreacting” or “it’s not that serious.” IT IS. As I said before, that’s OUR culture. It’s a big fucking deal to us. FUCK OFF if you’re saying shit like that.
I don’t think he’s gonna say something about this, but it’d be great if he ever does. He could use his plataforms to educate people, especially American ones (yeah, sorry but that’s the truth), and it really makes me sad to know that’s probably not gonna happen.
I get that Ricky Gervais has presented as a trash person in the past and I get that I don’t entirely understand why because most of his trash moments happened basically right before or on the precipice of me becoming a part of the internet, so no, I don’t know slash understand everything horrible he’s done or said, and no, that won’t stop me from deciding for myself whether or not he’s the kind of guy to ignore even when he’s making a good point, or the kind of guy I feel I should listen to. I know everyone’s ready to send me All the Good Points on why I should Love/Hate this dude, and eventually I’ll figure it out for myself, thanks very much.
Right now, all I’m thinking is he fucking tore into the corruption of hollywood, he very happily pointed out the racism, sexism, and accepted sexual abuse associated with hollywood, and if I end up deciding that he is not a person to be listened to, that’s fine, I will decide that myself, and I am not closing myself off from that possibility. But right now he is also the guy that told all of hollywood, on international TV, what absolute corrupt hypocrites they all are, and that if nothing else was fucking satisfying to watch.
Anyone who sends me any messages about how I’m right or wrong or good or bad for appreciating this one monologue will be ignored. Again, this is not about me digging through all the clues to figure out if Ricky Gervais is a dude I support or not. I don’t care about supporting this one controversial comedian. I really mostly just care that for whatever reason Ricky Gervais lost his fucking mind and burned the entirety of hollywood in 7 minutes.

What I'm gonna write right now could be triggering for a lot of people so if you're sensible to gruesome stuff do not read - but if you read it I ask of you to help us by reblogging and sharing and supporting us on this fight against gender violence ♀️💚
Yesterday, a 25 year old girl named Ingrid Escamilla was murdered by Erick Francisco, her 45 year old boyfriend. He stabbed her on the throat with a kitchen knife, skinned her from the face to the knees, and removed her organs and discarded them by drainage - all of this while his 15 year old autistic son held witness of the atrocity. Erick confessed to Ingrid's murder and yet people on social media have been saying is her fault for dating a much older man, for being lazy and trying to get "a sugar daddy", for not taking care enough of herself. And if that wasn't enough, pictures of her corpse have been shared publically via social media, almost going viral 💔
In the past few years mexico has had a feminist rise given that statistics show 10 women are killed every day in mexico city alone, 66 out of every 100 women suffer a form of gender violence in mexico, 1 in 5 complaints ends in conviction, 27.93% of pregnancies are from girls from 10 to 18, in 2019 there were 5350 feminicides and 7526 women were vanished from earth.
Women have marched, sang and danced, and vandalized monuments, and people got mad and said "we dont need feminism", "that's not how women should protest", "feminists are criminals", with a hashtag becoming really popular among women: "they dont represent me".
Ingrid was one of them, tweeting in March "feminism has to end if your best argument is that (we need it) because we are women, WE ARE PEOPLE and your life is not more important than a man's life stupid beast"
Yet, the feminists are fighting for her killer to be convicted and for it to be classified as a feminicide - the reason I'm telling you this is because I hope you'll realize that feminists fight for you and are your best friends. The best support system you could have.
But HERE is the reason I call for your support - the president has proposed to eradicate the term feminicide while stating: "I dont want feminicides to overshadow the presidential raffle". 🎫
If you're not from Mexico you wont know that the president promised during his campaign to sell and not use the presidential airplane. However he was "unable" to sell it and hes planning to raffle it amongst the mexican people, each ticket to enter the raffle costs $500 pesos - which is a lot. And it has been implied that people wont be given the plane but a prize in cash that's not even a 100th part of what the plane is worth. ✈
We cant allow our president to eradicate the term feminicide. We just can't. Itll make things worst for the victims and every single woman in mexico. This is a great act of violence towards women and it's coming from the most powerful person in our country, please spread the word about what he wants to do to us. 🤮🤢
today, thanks to all the chaos and horror, I learnt that the United States has an official ceremonial mace
I fear it really is time to invoke the 25th Amendment.
Trump apparently doesn’t know when to stop. If he was capable of putting the nation before his own needs, he would have forcefully condemned what his angry followers did in his name today at the Capitol.
Instead, Trump weakly told the Capitol mob to “go home” while at the same time repeating his continued lie that the election was stolen from him.
But I think the thing that really got to me was Trump’s saying to these would-be insurgents,
Yes, Trump “loves” his “very special” insurgents.
This is particularly galling because the “Law & Order President” had a very different response to the Black Lives Matter protesters:
And how about Trump also telling the mob,
This from a man who has expressed minimal empathy in the past year for the nearly 360,000 Americans who have died of Covid-19.
Here’s the video and transcript of Trump’s appalling speech to the Capitol mob this afternoon:
“I know your pain. I know you’re hurt.
“We had an election that was stolen from us. It was a landslide election, and everyone knows it, especially the other side.
“But you have to go home now. We have to have peace.
“We have to have law and order. We have to respect our great people in law and order. We don’t want anybody hurt.”
“It’s a very tough period of time. There’s never been a time like this where such a thing happened. Where they could take it away from all of us. From me, from you, from our country.
"This was a fraudulent election. But we can’t play into the hands of these people. We have to have peace.
“So go home. We love you. You’re very special.
“You’ve seen what happens. You see the way others are treated that are so bad and so evil.
“I know how you feel. But go home and go home in peace.”
