Bro imagine if Will goes into a Vecna trance he’s in a baseball field… I mean it depends on what Vecna would go after but if it’s Will being gay and his feelings… the baseball field would be perfect because Lonnie would force him to play baseball and Lonnie was homophobic and abusive, so imagine that.

Seriously I would start balling because I know that if Will gets Vecna’s curse it’s gonna be a more of a struggle for him to get out of it, because there is so many things Vecna can take advantage of and that’s what scares me

friendly reminder that twitter user swiftlynatalia is full of shit! her “leaks” that she uses to promote her credibility are usually mooched off of reddit and her “inside source” has never been confirmed to exist. she’s also historically anti-mike/will so anything she says in regards to them i would take with a hefty pinch of salt.

as for the noah and millie interview where they talk circles around will being gay - yeah, it would be great if they could just confirm it and not act like it’s some huge plot point, but they’re under contract not to spoil things. if they’re told not to talk about it, they can’t talk about it. it’s not a big deal that they won’t say anything definitive.

tl;dr, no one who knows anything real about volume 2 can speak about it, and anyone who’s speaking about it doesn’t know anything real. relax.

Can’t believe the Byler fight in the rain (eyewitness parallel) happened 37 years ago

I LOVE THIS WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE A FIC

Considering writing a truly elaborate reverse isekai established relationship older Cleradin comes to Hawkins to meet pre relationship Byler and help El and everyone save the world while also repairing their relationship and getting Mike and Will to smooch while they’re at it.

Lucas’ fantasy counterpart is a prince (this is why he has the horse!) and turns out Erica is a princess and he has to swear Will the Wise and Sir Mike to utmost secrecy that his sister can NEVER find out she is actual royalty in another reality.

Dustin teaches fantasy Will about electricity and they do a magical mourning ritual for Eddie that he would have loved.

Steve invites them to stay at his house but Will the Wise, who is a grown ass man in his twenties, refuses to leave his mommy Joyce so everyone moves in and uses Steve’s house as a base.

Robin has to take fantasy Will aside and explain homophobia to him because he is so incredibly outwardly gay all the time.

Sir Mike and Nancy get along swimmingly because they are both fighters and relentless and he thinks it’s fun to be older than her for once.

There are fantasy to mundane eighties makeovers that upset and arouse Hawkins Mike, fantasy Will is very attached to his terrible wizard hat, fantasy Mike thinks blazers are neat, there are arguments about pants.

El is trying to reach out to fantasy El to repeat the portal accident that got Cleradin to Hawkins in the first place while also trying to help Max and defend against Vecna.

Will is completely flustered at all times by Sir Mike and Jonathan teases him relentlessly.

Sir Mike is an idiot who asks Hopper for an ale and gets his tongue stuck inside the freezer and finally bonds with Mike over the utility of radio communication.

Mike cannot even with Will the Wise who is so curious and outspoken and creative and keeps paying attention to everyone other than him how dare he.

Will the Wise is desperately avoiding picking up Hawkins Mike and squeezing him and ruffling his hair and biting him from cuteness aggression.

Will learns about Cleradin’s romance direct from Will the Wise but Sir Mike never tells Hawkins Mike, but Mike decides it’s worth the risk to follow through on his hunch and goes for it with Will anyway and they have a pre-final-battle first date and it is extremely cute because they deserve nice things.

El gets occasional communiques from her fantasy counterpart who helps her find Max by bringing fantasy Max into the void so El can look for her signature in Hawkins. Fantasy El is a super powerful and deeply weird witch and Hawkins El isn’t sure if she is okay with growing up to be like her and fantasy El is like “of course you won’t! Just by meeting me we’ve changed everything about what you would have been. Everything is changing all the time!” And Hawkins El is like, you are confusing and remind me of my punk sister so I guess that’s okay but please don’t go making any more portals by accident. And fantasy El is like, gosh, you are sooooo serious all the time, fiiiiiinnnneeee. But she makes one little portal a while later after Cleradin gets back home to send their well wishes and ask for Joyce’s meatloaf recipe.

Will: I don’t have a jacket

Mike: Oh I can-

Lucas: Oh! I have my letterman jacket, here Will!

Will: Thanks

the byers are used to having to let go of the things and the ones they love.

joyce lost will, her son, her boy. he disappeared and nobody paid attention to her consistent desperation to get him back and if they did, they only did because they thought she was crazy. talking to the lights, putting a hole through her wall with an axe, not believing he's dead despite seeing "his body". everybody wanted her to let go of him already, accept that he's gone for good.

then she lost bob, her light after darkness. she saw him die, a brutal, horrifying death where she could do nothing but stand, watch and break. after finally witnessing and feeling what it's like to live in the sweet comfort of predictability and stability, she had to let him go.

and it doesn't stop there because then she lost hopper, the only person who truly understands her and has been there with and for her since the beginning. she didn't only have to let him go but she had to live with the guilt and the pain that she pulled the lever that killed him.

jonathan lost his childhood, nobody ever acknowledges it but he did. he was abused by his father, forced to kill animals and become somebody he's not. he had to work to help his family at 15, plan a funeral for his brother at 16 all while keeping everything held down for his mother, taking care of her, protecting her and while getting heavily bullied for being different.

joyce lost her son but jonathan also lost his brother and had to live with the guilt that if he didn't pick that extra shift, he could've saved will. he had to let go of one of the only two people he cared about and nobody bothered to ever ask him how he was doing.

and now jonathan is letting go of nancy because he loves her too much to get in the way of her future. he knows she has big dreams, knows she doesn't want to turn out like her parents, knows she doesn't want to get married and live a stereotypical life so he's letting her go because he knows she can't have the life she truly wants and deserves if she stays with him and he loves her too much to hold her back even at the cost of his own heart breaking.

will.. where does one even start with will?

will had to let go of everything. his childhood was half gone being kidnapped and possessed by a dark shadow from an alternate dimension and half gone being bullied for who he is by his classmates and his father.

he had to let go of his hobbies because his friends outgrew them. he was forced to grow up when he still wasn't ready yet. he had to run to get to where everyone else walked to.

then he had to let go of his love for his best friend, his best friend who is in love with his step sister. his best friend who said the day he went missing was the best day of his life. his best friend who he adored like no other. his best friend who he'd risk his life for but he had to let him go because at the end of the day, he's just like his brother. he's letting go of the one he loves because he doesn't think he's enough for him. never enough to be what he truly wants. so he has no other choice but to let him go the way he had to with everything else he's ever loved.

idk what this is and it's probably shitty but i've been thinking about it for the past few days and it's been breaking my heart & making me sad so i'm gonna force you to be sad with me. sorry and you're welcome.

M*leven: a relationship that was never meant to be

I would like to say this is not an attack towards anyone who ships Melvin. I don’t even want it to show up on their tag, but if any of them find this, just know I am doing an analysis and that anyone who attacks me for it is not cool. I also ship byler which could make my point less convincing, but I am not trying to be biased. None of this comes from a bias, just me talking about a relationship that I have grown to highly dislike and show why it has a high chance of breaking up.

With that out of the way, Melvin is a relationship between the characters Mike and El in Stranger Things, and has been canon since season 1. They didn’t really get together until the end of S2 and it has been that way ever since. Many people think that this relationship is cute and yes, it is, but let’s replace the is with was.

Ever since season 3 this relationship has been shown to be quite toxic. I noticed how my opinion on Melvin was positive until season 3 and it’s funny how it’s when they actually became a couple. In fact, I noticed that Melvin became toxic when they got together. This shows that maybe they should not be together at all and that has been Duffers intention.

To show why it’s always been toxic, is how no one in the show has said anything positive about it at all. Ever since season 1, the party thinks Mike has crush on her, but they don’t find this cute or endearing, they mock it. An example would be Lucas teasing Mike about El:

Lucas: El! I love you so much! Would you marry me?

Mike: Shut up Lucas

You could say Lucas approves of the crush, but the way he also went “If you love her so much why don’t you just marry her?” Which is more of a negative thing to say than a positive. I get that this was when the party just met El, and Lucas didn’t trust her at the time. But still, it was intentional. The over exaggeration that Lucas does is, in my interpretation, a way of the Duffers mocking Melvin. Which goes into my next point.

The Duffers show how their relationship doesn’t work romantically. Ever since they have become a couple, they have had problems. S3 is a huge example with them breaking up and both of them not even being sad about it. You’d think that such a strong bond would be sad about their relationship ending at least a little, but it’s not. Even the scene where Mike says he loves her, everyone reacts in such a weird way. Like they think he’s lying.

What makes it better is how humorous their breakup in S3 is. Like the Duffers do not take their romantic relationship seriously. Whenever they are together, they act so out of character to where it doesn’t feel real, which is most likely intentional. Because their romance is a lie.

This also just doesn’t affect the two of them, it also affects everyone else around them. With them ditching their friends when they were going to meet Dustin’s girlfriend and have them all complain about it. Sure, Max says “It’s romantic” but not even an episode later she starts going against their relationship. I feel Max is supposed to represent the audience, most found it romantic or cute in earlier seasons, but after seeing their relationship more clearly, it’s just bullshit and they need to break up.

Let’s not forget the constant Ted and Karen parallels. Which I touched upon here. Especially with the new season’s main messages being about conformity, which is what their relationship is, conformity. These two work better as friends, not as a romantic pairing.

Another example of their romance being a lie is how when they became a couple, they both lie to each other. First it’s Mike in S3, then it’s El in S4. Which actually can be proven with of the most popular phrases in this show “Friends don’t lie.”

Friends don’t lie. El never lied to Mike when they were just friends and vice versa, but when they became a couple, it was all lies. Because their love is a lie. They didn’t actually love each other in a romantic sense.

Now you could say that S4 has taken a more serious tone with their relationship and argument, but the reason it’s serious is because this is where they realize that this isn’t what they actually want. They are taken seriously when they are a friendship. The fact that eulogy played in the background of their argument in S4 shows that their romance is dead. It’s always been. This can also be proven with Mike calling it an “argument you can’t come back from.” What’s something that you can’t come back from? Death. Their romance is dead.

There’s also the whole superhero thing. This has been here since season 1. In the same scene I mentioned with Lucas mocking Mike earlier, Dustin compares El to plenty of superheroes (X-men and green lantern) with Lucas saying “She’s not a superhero. She’s a weirdo.” You’d think Mike would shut both of them down, like with something like “She’s a person.” Or something like that. Usually I find that to be more romantic when it comes to something like this and you have a character who’s supposedly in love. But he does the same thing Dustin does by saying “The X-men were weirdos.”

This to me shows how Mike does not love El, with season 4 proving this even more, but it also shows how this was intended. Mike admires her, of course he cares about her, but it’s not romantic it’s just admiration. And that’s why having Mike tell El he loves her would be more damaging to their relationship because now El has her powers back, so Mike saying he loves her after just proves how he doesn’t actually love her. And you know what? Maybe we should have a scene where Mike tells El he loves her, but she shuts it down and tells him that he doesn’t. Making him realize that maybe they shouldn’t be together, after all, friends don’t lie.

There are plenty of other examples of how their romantic relationship never worked from the start and how they are not endgame, but I am going a bit too long here, and I feel that I might continue this post with more examples, like a part 2 or something. But that’s all for now.

In conclusion, Mike and El were never supposed to work out as a romantic pairing. And they will break up this season as that is the more healthiest and logical conclusion for their romance. Despite this show not exactly being realistic (it involves supernatural beings after all) it is realistic with their relationships. Keep that in mind.
