Norton Campbell

SFW

-This relationship would take a good while to develop because neither Norton nor you are likely to initiate it. But once the acquaintance hurdle is jumped, you find out just how little Norton gives a damn about shyness. (In a good way.) He talks to you like he talks to anyone else, rarely reacting to or drawing special attention to your timidity. If you respond to him, great. If you don’t, you don’t.

-It’s both cute and hilarious when the pair of you interact with other survivors. You’re so shy, and Norton is so stoic, and inevitably you’ll end up flustered over something and just bury your face in his chest and he just does not care. If he needs to move while you’re occupied this way, he’ll ask you to stand on his boots, and just walks off like that.

-He’s also one of the tallest guys in the manor, so feel free to hide behind him. Again, he really doesn’t care. If you hide under or behind something else, he just nonchalantly pokes his head in when he needs to say something to you.

-The only time he ever gets frustrated by your shyness is if it causes problems while you’re in danger. If those situations ever do arise, Norton is quick to throw you over his shoulder and remove you from the situation himself, regardless of any protests. Safety and health come before comfort.

NS/FW

-Norton is a little different about your shyness here than in public; he’ll let you get away with it in the bedroom for all of five minutes. After that, the manhandling comes into play.

-Norton will respect a genuine boundary, but he thinks claiming ‘you’re shy’ is just another way of playing hard to get. And Norton is hard…that’s it, he’s got a hard-on. He’s ready to go.

-No he will not leave the room pitch dark just because you’re embarrassed about being naked. And no, he won’t let you hide under the covers the whole time either. And no, you will not hide your red face behind or muffle those pretty little sounds with your hands. Try it and he’ll rather effortlessly pin your wrists over your head with one hand.

-The one time he kind of lets you get away with any of this is when he’s got you face-down-ass-up on the bed. He’s a little preoccupied with pulling your hips back to meet his thrusts, so if you plant your face in a pillow or something he’s less likely to reach over and rip it away. He will however definitely take it as a challenge to make you scream loud enough to be heard through the block.

Luca Balsa

-Luca is good with shy people! He’s energetic and talkative enough for several people, and he doesn’t mind carrying the conversation so long as you don’t mind his rambling. Honestly if his s/o is shy, then between them, Andrew, and Victor, Luca starts to look like the trope of an extrovert collecting introverts.

-He’s not crazy with PDA, but Luca does like leaning close to talk, and holds your hand whenever his are free. He always checks with you before trying to initiate PDA in a new kind of situation, but after that he just trusts it to apply to all similar ones. No sense in calling attention to your shyness and possibly making it worse.

-Luca thinks your blushing face is the best thing ever, so he does occasionally go out of his way to draw it out of you. While he doesn’t exactly have a poetic disposition, he has earnestness on his side. Who wouldn’t be flustered when he gets down on one knee and kisses your fingers?

-He thinks it’s fun to make your shyness a game. Whenever you hide away, it’s clearly because he has to earn seeing your best expressions.

-Cue Luca doing his damnedest to suck your very soul out, only pulling away periodically to ask through gulps of air if he’d “earned it yet?” No? Well, he’s not done yet. At some point you’ll be driven wild enough to choose pulling his hair over shielding your face.

-He’ll hold both of your hands with his own too. or, better yet, put your arms around him? He can deal with some angry red marks on his back for a while. Just expect a few revenge hickies.

-If you’re really so shy…he can be out of the room for your pleasure time. How? Oh, just this little remote-controlled thing he made for you. …Wanna try?

Nikolai is very affectionate and he doesn’t shy away from showing it. Although he is fine if you are shy about being affectionate in public, he does prefer it if you are being all cute for him in return. Regardless, he is good at reading people’s behaviour and expression, so if he notices you are uncomfortable, he will tone it down. Though, he will try to at least keep you close, like holding your pinky.

Nikolai shows his affection through any means, to be honest. But he would lean more towards quality time and physical touch. He likes going on dates or just being with you after a long day of work. Simply having you around is already enough for him because he could flirt with you still — like, winking or playing footsie. Nikolai doesn’t mind if you are touchy, he likes it. Even though he seems like someone who is very clingy and touchy, there are limits, surely. However, it is hard to know when he is uncomfortable with the touch or when he is fine as he is good at subtly diverting someone’s touch away from him. He is pretty unexpectable after all. If you touched him excessively while he needs to be free for a moment — i.e, answering an important call — he would tell you or take your hands off him and then hold your hand instead.

Another way Nikolai shows affection is to give gifts. His cloak is a pocket of everything. He likes to show you stuff that he got from somewhere and oftentimes, they are gifts for you. The items he gives or shows you could range from a completely normal thing like a custom-made chocolate bar to an old coin he found in a water fountain. He doesn’t expect people to give him gifts but he will be over the moon if he receives them.

Andrew is very used to scrutiny, disgust and contempt from other people. He was never accepted by others and always felt out of place, so it is no surprise to him that his life in the manor is exactly the same. But Andrew doesn't exactly blame the other survivors, after all, he dislikes himself all the same, a white-haired monster, as they call him.

Due to this, it would be enough for you to show genuine kindness and respect towards him for Andrew to become enamored with you. He is absolutely overwhelmed by something as small as you holding open a door for him, or inviting him to sit next to you at a table while eating. Not to mention, if you were to smile at him while greeting him in the morning, he would melt away completely.

To him, you're an angel. A gift. His chance at redemption. You're so kind-hearted, so empathetic, so pure and perfect. If he can protect you and make sure you stay safe, then all of his prior sins can be forgiven.

He doesn't even try to hide his newfound conviction. Andrew stalks you without even trying to blend into the environment, from now on you can be sure that there's always a watchful pair of eyes looking your way. It's almost like he is your shadow. Even if you tell him to stop, he won't. Should you hate him from now on, so be it, your safety is more important than anything else.

He doesn't see himself worthy of your presence anyways, infact, he thinks of himself as below you. In comparison to you, he's disgusting and vile, like vermin.

Andrew fights tooth and nail to keep you from being hurt in matches. He can take broken rips, bruises, cuts and even more grievous injuries if it means you're unharmed. This man would quite literally die for you if it was needed. Adding to this, he won't ever leave a match without you, and if he sees another survivor being extremely selfish or letting you down, they're sure to receive the full extent of his anger. You would never let anyone down. How could they?

If you allow him near you, despite how unusual he seems to act, he is overjoyed. He can't believe how lucky he is. He carefully listens to everything you say and if you ask him about his life and show genuine interest in him, you'll bring him close to crying tears of joy.

Andrew isn't the type to get violent out of jealousy. He gets extremely jealous, yes, but he condemns himself for it and tries to hide the feeling. It is definitely noticeable, though. The sour stares full of malice that he gives other survivors when they take up your time, how his eyes darken when you leave to spend time with someone else. Truth be told, Andrew looks very intimidating when he is jealous. That alone will probably make other survivors weary of occupying your attention for too long. Andrew would never admit this, but secretly, he is happy about it.

If you ever get seriously hurt during a match, it will unsettle him deeply, even if Emily does her best at patching you up and you end up recovering. It's not unlikely that this will cause Andrew to kidnap you and keep you somewhere safe. Somewhere you won't get hurt ever again. You can try to fight back, but Andrew won't budge. There's a good chance he will overpower you, too. After all, before he came to the manor, he made a living by lifting caskets and digging holes.

Andrew would be a gentle captor. Aside from not letting you leave, he wouldn't ever do anything you're uncomfortable with, and he'll even leave you alone if you want that. He hates to see you angry or sad, especially if you're crying. He will be especially distressed if you try to get him to let you go by hitting, scratching or biting him. Not because it hurts him, no, he can barely feel it, he is used to this kind of treatment by others after all. Andrew just hates to see you unhappy.

You're probably stuck with him for a long time, no matter what you do. Andrew doesn't care whether you hate or love him, because he loves you deeply, so so deeply. If you're upset, he'll hush you with soft words and brush through your hair with his fingers until you've calmed down. If you accept him, he'll be the happiest man on earth, and even if you don't, Andrew will protect you for as long as he can, in his own, special way.

Most-to-Least Protective: Survivor Guys

I had less time to write before work today, but some good inspo so I whipped up this example for the ranking requests I take! For this one I just used the ten who came to mind and who im probably most familiar with

This is meant in general terms, not just for in Matches. The primary situations I considered for this are heated arguments, physical altercations, and near-death experiences. The ranking considers their responses to these situations, as well as how strong their protective feelings are.

MOST 🔻

Naib would do just about anything in defense of a loved one. Argue, fight, kill, anything. It’s not like he hasn’t done it all before anyway. Naib refuses to lose anyone else, it’s not even an option to him. If someone tried to make it happen anyway? He’s enraged beyond giving his usual mercy of a quick death. He’s gonna make it hurt.

Andrew is not super likely to argue on your behalf, unless you count cussing someone out as “arguing.” In which case it’s like 50/50. He’s more willing to step in physically. He doesn’t want to be a glorified meat-shield, but if your life were in danger he would 100% crack someone over the head with his shovel. He won’t intentionally kill someone for you but it may happen, depending on how that shovel lands. He won’t feel bad about it either way. He’s already an angry guy, and it’s even more intense when you’re in danger.

Kevin would initiate an argument on your behalf. Also very willing to throw hands on your behalf and doesn’t care if he gets hurt. He really doesn’t want to kill anyone, but if there’s no other choice he will. Your safety as his loved one comes before anyone else’s, even his own. Surprisingly, he becomes more level-headed and calculating as the danger to you increases. In other words, he’s at his most emotional in a verbal argument.

Norton mostly trusts you to handle your own issues, but if you’re obviously uncomfortable or intimidated he’ll place himself between you and the threat. Might get into a fight for you if it were serious, but his preferred way to handle things would be dealing petty revenge behind the scenes. (or, during a personality flip, violent revenge.) He would kill someone for you if there was no other way. His feelings are more intense than his actions normally suggest, but he’s concerned about going too far like he did in the mining accident.

William is a large, strong guy, who’s very rough in his sports but not so much outside them. He’ll gladly speak up for you if someone’s being a jerk, but he may or may not make the best arguments. He’s happy to be your shield and willing to throw a punch or two if someone else strikes first but, again, he’d rather wrap things up before getting to that point. If he had to, he’d probably kill to protect you, but it would haunt him for the rest of his life. He’s very hot-headed in regards to your safety.

If Victor is one thing, it’s brave. He’s not likely to speak on your behalf, or try to hurt someone for you, but he’s more than willing to place himself in harm’s way if it means he has even a chance of getting you out of it. He always lingers close by if there’s tension in the air so he can pull you behind him at a moment’s notice.

Luca is very likely to step into an argument on your behalf—though in his case it’s more him trying to end the argument rather than engage it. He’s willing to step into danger to guide you out of it, but not to attempt violence. Not because he doesn’t care, but because he knows he’s too weak to be helpful in that way. He’s quite calm up until your life is in immediate danger, at which point he would beg his more-capable friends to save you.

Aesop is not protective in the moment at all. He won’t step in to argue or fight for you, and isn’t very likely to step into life-threatening danger, either. His self-appointed role is healing and comforting you after the fact. And, secretly, plotting revenge. No one ever suspects Aesop as being the type to hold a grudge. But I stand by what I said in his general HCs: if we go by canon, he’s easily one of the most dangerous people in the manor.

Edgar is pretty unhelpful. Listen, listen…you’re supposed to be the tough cookie in this relationship. Edgar has venom for days; he’ll run his mouth off if you want him to, sure, but he’s not throwing himself into danger just because you can’t handle it. If you almost die…well, you’re one of the few things he cares about anymore, so the line must be drawn. If they’re within reach, the culprit ought to watch their backs for a while. And maybe not eat or drink anything they didn’t prepare themselves.

Joker is a lot like Aesop, but there’s like a 90% chance of it being without the revenge bit. He does, in fact, hold grudges, but he’s still not likely to attempt anything against someone. If they did something really horrible to you he’ll look into whatever form of public justice can be dealt to them, even if that just means trying to rally the other members of the manor into shunning them. Unlike Aesop, he’s somewhat likely to try to stop a verbal altercation, but he’s not very assertive and ends up not being much help.
